Fantastic............spent alot of time there!!! That's when dragracing was fun!! I also met my better half there..( it'll be 42 years). Loved everything about that place!XO
Who was Jan Gabriel's partner in these commercials? I remember these on WLS radio in Chicago from Thursday until SUNDAY!, SUNDAY!, SUNDAY! This was some of the best radio marketing ever produced. US 30 was the place to be when you were growing up in the late 60's and early 70's. Jan Gabriel missed his calling. He should have been a Havard Professer of radio marketing. He could have taught those overpriced kids a thing or two about selling on radio air time. He was simply the best at it!
'First race track I ever went to. 'Lived up in Highland, and the thrill of going to the "strip" in the mid-sixties for a teenager was indescribable. God bless guys like Jan Gabriel. They put some of that "spice" into life for lots of people. ☺
Goodbye Jan. You're one of my fondest memories when I was young going to Santa Fe Speedway and one of the reasons why I got into motorsports. GODSPEED
Have a heavy heart today for Mr. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday and his family. So sorry about his passing. The cool thing is he was taken home on a Sunday...

The car had BFG G-60-15 bias ply tires.. Ran 13.90 @ 97 Mph.. Not too bad in thoses days. If it had slicks it would of run better.
