Dump the neo-cons. Re-read and apply the tenets of the original GOP platform (i.e. back to President Lincoln's era) as well as former Senator Barry Goldwater's platform.
Hmmm - the contract of 1994 did not accomplish much except further bankrupt our country on multiple levels. So why write yet another contract; especially one that, yet again, is written in sand?
Newt's new Contract, clearly, is an attempt to short-circuit pro-liberty dynamics of our time, from the Paul movement, to the tea parties, to end/audit the Fed, the state sovereignty efforts et al, and once again replace it with a counterfeit agenda. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Newt's Contract in 1994 was successful, in that it worked to co-opt the momentum of the term limits, land rights, militia, 10th Amendment, etc liberty movements of the mid-'90's. It derailed all those efforts, and pulled all the focus back to the left-right paradigm, whereupon Gingrich fell on his sword and led the GOP to its cave-in to the Clinton regime after the OKC bombing.

What he really means is - "these are the positive steps the Republican party will take to ensure Corporate profibility... Energy - deregulate so big Conglomerates can make profits like Enron did. Environment - Slash restrictive laws to enable Big Companies to dump there waste where they want to. Education - Keep cutting back budgets so our kids cant find good jobs. The Economy - De-regulate De-regulate DEREGULATE... hell it worked for G.W. Bush for eight years. It's the same old Sh!t ! ! !
Deregulation doesn't help large corporations. They are already setup and have more leverage to react to regulation changes. Deregulation helps small businesses because it reduces the hurdles they have to overcome in order to setup.
Money doesn't equal a quality education. California's education has increased over the last decade with some of the least amount of $ spent per pupil. At the other end D.C. schools are failing despite the money spent on them.
You're joking .... right? Deregulation is a Republican cornerstone. It was NEVER ment to help anybody but the Money givers ie: LARGE CORPORATIONS. Republicans dont give a rats ass about small business, just look at there so called economic plans for the last 30 years. Ever heard of Trickle down economics? And if you've REALLY read up on California's education, you would know the ALL the spending cuts have ONLY resulted in poorer test results. I live in Cali, I've seen the drop first hand.
I live in Cali too, the test scores among the younger generation has been going up for the last 7 years.
If you ever owned a business, then you should know what regulation does to smaller businesses. It creates new rules you have to follow. When its a large corp, they can hire a couple more people to handle the new regulations. For a smaller business they are going to lose much more money complying to new regulations.
Regulation has been a method to create large corps in the first place.
The younger generation ie: K-6 is the ONLY area of education the Gov. Arnold HASN'T TOUCHED. Grades 7-12 has seen nothing but class increases and funding cuts ever since Arnold got into office. The corresponding test results show that the majority are suffering. I disagree with you about regulations, Corporate laws is the only method to create a corporation in this country, Regulations are the rules the corp must obey to due business in a given field.
"We the people" are sick and tired of entitlement programs, being told what we must do, having a government that spits on the constitution, insane spending, corruption, intentional destruction of our econonmy, liars, cheats, thieves, special interest groups, bribes, over taxing, false claims regarding global warming, welfare for lazy people (not for those who truly need it-probably 1%), political correctness, vilifying good spirited Americans and that's really about it for me anyway.
The dumbing DOWN of the modern conservative movement . . . Buckley Goldwater Nixon's Southern Strategy Reagan (talk & DEBT) Religious right hijacks Jesus. GOP hijacks the flag. Limbaugh & Hate Radio Fox "News" Bush/Cheney Palin Birthers Beck Carrie Prejean THE ABYSS - Welcome conservatives! YOU ARE HERE!
Bush, Cheney, Guilliani, Beck, Palin - how can anyone can wish the nightmare of their leadership onto the United States of America, the leader of the free world, the greatest nation the world has seen - ? But it's only ~25% who hope for bad stupid leaders - so for now we are safe-
Isn't Newt the guy who rammed through Clinton's impeachment for lying about blowjobs while Newt himself was getting blowjobs from his secretary? The Conservative movement has the leaders it deserves - :-P
The GOP should just represent the 20% of the country they are trying to represent. fuck common ground, screw moderates. just hold your 20% and shoot for 20% of the seats in the house.
I have no problems having them be marginalized and out of power if that is what they want.
But i would love to see a new political party that actually represents the majority which is now left without representatioin thanks to extremist ideologies.
This man has been rejected by Conservatives. The establishment is trying to keep him around. He is scared of libertarians. Obama is trying to help gingrich out. Please donate to Rand Paul in Kentucky.
He sounds good. The two most heavly Gov. regulated entities that are most costly and big time failures are Healthcare and Education. Medicare/medicaid and competition cutting regulations have skyrocketed healthcare cost. Medicare trustees est. income taxes would have to almost double w top rates at 66% to sustain medicare. That will cut incomes by 20%. Gov. has thrown money every year for 30 yrs at education and each year we rank lower on world scale. What does that tell you?
The GOP stand a chance in 2010 if the Dems continue to fuck up. The GOP are a huge pack of incompetent, corrupt and condescending losers but could gain seats if the Obama administration continues as if Bush had never left. Obama has his close group of Zionists, pulling his strings, with no sign that he will take a decent step in his tenure. Healthcare reform is a disgrace, as passed by The House and promises to go further downhill after The Senate gets through with it.
in 2010 we will be out of Iraq, Health Care will have passed and people will be enjoying the improvements, the economy will have rebounded a bit, Afghanistan will be being handled in an intelligent and measured way with an exit strategy - that's what Obama ran on for two years, and he'll be able to say he did what he promised with the help of the Democratic congress and Senate - while the GOP has no ideas and nothing to offer accept hate - Vote For Us, We Hate Obama - nope, won't fly...
If the health care bill passes, it doesn't go into effect until after Osama is kicked out of office in 2012, so there's a bit of a problem with your projection.
a.) It will pass - you read it here first - there is no doubt. b.) Once it passes it will have immediate effect as health care organizations adjust their prices and practices, with the eyes of the American People on them, preparing for the changes - the rest of the world can provide decent health care for all their citizens - I truly don't understand all you conservatives who say the United States of America is so great and powerful, but is lame and incapable when it comes to health care?
it's just a step - the public option is the wedge the gov't will use to get to the real agenda: universal health care - it's inevitable - probably take about 12 years - but it'll come -
Is this the same Newt that gave us NAFTA? The same Newt that backed a RINO up in NY Congressional District 23 named Scazzafava over the TRUE CONSERVATIVE?

Newt needs to realize that his "friends acrosss the aisle" are not his friends. He doesn't know how to win a fight. Remember when he said Hillary would make a good president? sheeesz

Newt, go away. You and Dede Scozzafava should start a "destroy the republican party" club. You could invite McCain, Lindsey Grahamnesty, Snow, and Charlie Crist to join you. Newt is an incredibly smart guy. I hope he's deeply involved on a policy standpoint with the Republican party going forward. Why doesn't someone commit to getting us off of oil? We keep insisting we can't. But I keep seeing where we probably can. We already have our electric grid off oil. We should take it piece by piece. Next lets use the Pickens plan to get the big trucks of oil. Perhaps then put aviation on bio-fuel. By then cars may have made strides toward hydrogen or increased battery storage. And I haven't even mentioned solar yet, which is possibly our best source of energy.

Afganistan = Opium Trade control
