  • DOE can always do the Elizabeth Warren argument: "since your kid is educated by THE REST OF US, not you, not your tax money. So we, the REST OF US, have the right to do whatever the hell we want to your kid."

  • @newyorkairsoft and people wonder why I homeschool.

  • Lets see The Young Turds try and defend the DoE now!

  • SHONE: The Turds, I mean the Turks are still defending the unconstitutional and ineffective Fed. Dept of Education? Won't they be surprised when they learn FDR himself believed that education was left to the states, as the 10th Amendment states?

  • the new data would be great for people like Steve Sailer to write good columns. However if they put in stuff like "student displays nationalistic bent". I oppose that.

  • This is just one of the many reasons why I'm voting for Ron Paul. Abolish the DOE! Federal government has done nothing but dumb down the education system. Public education was created to give people a positive view of government through propaganda, not to educate. The reality is that government is nothing more than an over-glorified criminal organization that steals (taxes), kills (war) and lies more than any other organization.

  • High school is just like jail. I should know because I've been to both.

  • where does the federal govmnt get the right to even do this, the dpmnt of ed. should be abolished. our tax dollars are being used against us,,,,good going assholes.

  • go to private schools. much better. until the libturds and their minions outlaw them.

  • just another reason to try private schools.

  • information is POWER .. the government is POWER MAD ... DO NOT COMPLY...

  • Maybe a reason to vote for Ron Paul?

  • People are giving out lots of personal information on the Internet anyhow. Often far more than the government can collect with all their policies. All you have to do is Google someone and you can often find out almost anything you want to know, they have a trail out there already. Why aren't people concerned about that?

  • Trusting the government to "honor their word" is suicidal thinking.

  • I have a solution to this...eliminate the Dept Of ED!

  • IT IS A NATIONAL DATABASE, WAKE UP, in fact this is an INTERNATIONAL database!

  • Government has NO BUSINESS in our lives,

  • Its time to kick all of them out

  • Remember the ominous 'record' teachers would always threaten with?

  • All we need is a 15 cent bullet for child molesters.

  • Bachman 2012!

  • @mistara31415 From another perspective, in an anarcho-capitalist system, what's to stop you from selling your daughter as a sex slave?

  • @mistara31415 I'm finding it hard to believe you've done much research yourself.

#1 Anarchism, at base, is the rejection of governmental regulations. Which includes enshrining basic human rights in a legal framework.

#2 Capitalism, at base, is the belief that everything has a price.

Remove the legal application of human rights in a purely capitalist economy, and the safeguards against buying/selling humans no longer exist.

  • @mistara31415 According to the parameters of anarcho capitalism (at least all variations I'm aware of), owning other human beings as property is a-ok...as basic human rights would no longer be part of a constitution, but up for sale to the highest bidder.

To claim you're 'owned' by elected politicians is inaccurate.

  • @mistara31415 Are my questions too hard?

  • @mistara31415 Anarcho capitalist. Got ya. I'm curious, are you a millionaire? Or just want to be owned by one?

  • Thank god I go to a private school ;)

  • We are just little "Copper Tops" for the full disposal of GOV/INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX!!!

Someone already has an INDUSTRIAL application for the data, then it reason for the need for data is "re-wrapped" to appeal... C'mon people, wake up!

  • Ron Paul 2011. Abolish this useless appendage.

  • She's not very good spokesperson. Gov keeps track of kid's weight, hacker releases data, insurance raises rates 'cause childhood obesity linked to heart problems, BAM! Gov just cost you money!

  • Um, the reason U.S. schools are so bad is precisely because of so much government intervention.

  • @furyofbongos Government intervention is not the problem. If it were, all countries with government run education systems would be as bad as the US's. It's the type of intervention that's the problem.

    The US is not pro-people. It's pro-corporation.

  • @TheHigherVoltage Lol sure whatever floats your boat bud.

  • Is this a surprise to anyone? Our nations education system is ran by the Department of Education. A government agency. A governments purpose of existing is to control the people through anyway and any means they can think of. It's only natural that they would seek total control by going after our children. They train them from a young age to be the perfect, docile, taxpayers that are used to being watched at all times.

The worst part is we allow them to do this.

  • Our insect overlords only have our best interest in mind. Now put on your chains like good little slaves.

  • why how much they weigh ? what does that have to do with education ?

  • Dont know whether to thumbs up or thumbs down on this. I REALLY REALLY want the

gooberment to get our of your lives so we can do what we want to do as long as we dont interfere with what other people do. IT IS NOT ROCKET science.

  • Homeschool. If you give your kids to the Government, you get government's children.

  • @mamabritts Well put.

  • @mamabritts

Actually ,,,, you get a "" INDOCTRINATED "" child if they attend the government school. They rewrite history and teach it as the truth with it is FAR FAR and AWAY from what the real truth is.

  • @DizzyDish ** when it is.... sorry

  • The Department of Education is a disgrace and is one of the reasons we rank so poorly compared to other industrialized nations. DOE encourages mediocrity, teaching to tests and vaules the teacher's and administrators over the education they provide. We spend something like $12,000 per year for each student and look at what we get for it.

  • I'm sure every one of these kids (and most Americans) is already volunteering this info via Facebook.

  • Why the hell would anyone send their kid to a government school?

  • good thing ron paul is getting rid of the dept. of educ. they're horrible.

  • THIS IS ANOTHER REASON TO VOTE FOR RON PAUL AND MORE PROOF AS TO WHY WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION !!! THIS IS OVER THE LINE AND THEY ALWAYS PUSH THAT IT'S TO BETTER EDUCATE THEIR KIDS .YA RRRRRIGHT IT.S JUST ONE MORE STEP TO TAKING YOUR CHILDREN AWAY FROM YOU AND PROGRAMING THEM TO SERVE THEIR DESIRES NOT YOUR OR YOUR CHILDREN S CONCERNS!!! .

  • Doesn't Facebook already do this?

  • Fucking LOSERS at CNN siding with the government 100% on this issue. Sham journalists!!

  • @asphyxiafeeling Everyone @ CNN is a Big Gov ass kisser. They were one of the reasons I finally ditched my cable TV.

  • My daughter brought home some dumbass questionnaire asking if her parents are married and live together ect. Threw it in the trash.

  • On the bright side, the terrorists who hate us for our freedoms will have less of an excuse now!

  • @gsuitter Terrorists don't hate anyone for their freedoms. They hate because they're convinced everyone else is God's enemies, and God's on their side.

  • weight... O.o!!! what would that have to do with education?

  • what works and discard what does not?

How about discarding the entire damn Dept of Education

  • @ForTehNguyen well you know who to vote for them bro.

  • And we wonder why Ron Paul wants to end the Dept of Education.

  • look how they act like they give a shit! if they gave a shit they would be supporting ron paul, so he could end this over reaching bullshit!!

  • next step, surgically implant cameras to the kids heads so u can then also SEE what they are doing! :D

  • Allot of people these days are concerned of 2012 when they should be concerned of 1984.

  • The government is NOT your friend.

  • Obama has trashed the Constitution with impunity for the sake of his police state. Simple answer: Elect Ron Paul.

  • I already can't do many things at my high school, I post up messages on the message boards about Sopa, NDAA, Occupy Wall Street, Wikileaks, and my website that hosts to politics. The posters and flyers on the board usually get's taken down by administration before it is even sought out by students that usually don't notice it. I realized also they have just blocked my website for being "offensive". Big brother is watching.

  • Welcome to the first steps towards totalitarianism.

  • @mistara31415 I agree : violence is bad. Unfortunately, violence is often necessary.

  • Lisa may be the most inarticulate, deer in the headlights, of all the Reason team. Don't let this chick in front of the camera, or better yet, fire her. She was unable to provide an example of how this sort of database might be abused, which demonstrates a lack of poise on camera or a lack of basic understanding of the issue.

  • @jackbenway Maybe she is new and she got nervous, I sure would be.

  • @jackbenway How is she ever going to improve? SHe clearly can confidently put forward a point on national TV. She may not have done a fantastic job of it here but it was hardly a disaster.

  • DDD Department of Dumbing Down

  • since when does the DOE give a shit about improving education? They have had how many years to create a successful program?

  • Compound this attack on are children's liberty by attacking the Dept. of Education. Congress created the D.O.E. in 1979, there is plenty of data available to prove D.O.E. is a complete failure and a waste of money for the tax payers. Having person(s) go on T.V. and just point out " what if's " is a weak tactic. Bring data to the table, show how the graduation rate as declined since the D.O.E. was created and prove how the level of education has also declined since their inception.

  • @mistara31415 I'd also like to add, from the wiki entry "The use of the word "libertarian" to describe a set of political positions can be tracked to the French cognate, libertaire, which was coined in 1857 by French anarchist Joseph Déjacque who used the term to distinguish his libertarian communist approach from the mutualism advocated by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon"

'Libertarian' began as a branch of communism. Go figure.

  • @TheHigherVoltage And yet now it isn't.

  • DOE is fucking useless

  • @mistara31415 "Libertarianism just means that we don't use violence, intimidation or force to solve our problems."

What definition of 'Libertarianism' includes this?

  • Erin Burnett is a moron.

  • Abolish the Department of Education. They think they own your kids.

  • I like that at the end - "we'll just have to wait and see". Bullcrap, we don't have to wait, there is tremendous history of how government handles information and it is ALWAYS abused.

  • Holy Shit!!!!!!!!!! It's time to eliminate the public school system. Home schooled kids are smarter anyway.

  • SMALLER FUCKING GOVERNMENT! Shut up CNN shill. Theres plenty of things wrong with the government intervening in education.

I hope Ron does become Pres. I cant wait to see a bunch of fuckwads at the DOE lose their jobs.

  • I've been trying to inform people that what they are doing in violating liberties to fight a drug war will expand to violate many other areas of life. When the government is given the okay to violate liberties, even if it's in the name of stopping drugs, it will use that okay in everything it does.

People are already so tracked by government that this extra little bit really is meaningless. Government needs to be forcefully removed from our lives in a big way, small changes are a joke.

  • The who reasoning that the Department Of Education is doing this-is the problem. Why is the DOE worried about creating more programs. Why don't they worry about actually improving education.

Ever since the inception of DOE, the tax payer has payed in billions and test scores, quality of education, and accountability has not increased. In many cases, things have gotten much worse.

DOE, worry about educating students. Or better yet, dissolving this department completely.

  • the CNN woman is just a government mouth piece. Its funny to hear government talking about accountability and transparency! Ha!

  • Of course ALL of this info will be available to the wrong people. Of course all the information can be corrupted by vindictive, corrupt teachers and school administrator. Of course all of this information will eventually distributed and aligned with Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc...

We allow Google to monitor and store all your info/GPS, and even distribute pictures of your house overhead and street level. Cameras in every room of your house, including your laptop and Kinect.

  • @antimarxism Someone could be tracking and watching your children, and you, and monitor your exact routine. You think your "private" cloud info, and facebook posts, are really "private"? haha!

Eventually Google will have more detailed and current pics of your property, and even live streams. We will roll over and take it. Instead of putting down spike strips and fighting the Google camera vans like we should, we will stupidly ignore. Ignore all, until its too late.

  • can't stand those CNN dry, lifeless bitches..

  • Leftist lies about their programs always sound good and innocent. That's why people get duped into accepting these pernicious policies and programs.

We don't find out until it's too late exactly what has been perpetrated upon us. Our first reaction to any new federal leftist proposal should be a resounding, "NO!"

Nothing this administration has done has been for the betterment of our country or anyone in it.

  • @TheOlderLady I don't disagree with what you say. However, I do disagree with your implication that it's only the left that's full of shit.

If your first reaction to any 'rightist' proposal is anything but a resounding 'NO!", you're as much of a gullible fool as you imply your opponents are.

  • @TheHigherVoltage Perhaps we need to define terms. If by "rightist" you mean "Republican," then you are correct.

However, by "right" I mean "Conservative." No true Conservative would try to force such oppressive, big-government tyranny on our lives and the lives of our children by lying about how wonderful their program will be "for the children."

We don't have to lie about our agenda to get people to agree. It's too bad, but many in the GOP aren't Conservative

  • Are you kidding? Conservatives are the WORST at pushing government into our lives. Anyone that argues otherwise has a lot of explaining to do about a 40 year drug war that justifies a million violations of our liberties.

  • @rickl7069

Not if Ron Paul gets elected. All this crap will be a thing of the past.

  • @TheOlderLady "No true Conservative"??? Look up 'no true Scotsman fallacy'. You're using it to justify a biased perspective.

Politicians always lie to get people on their side. It's called politics for a reason.

  • @TheOlderLady To make my point, I could just as easily say 'no true liberal would...'. And every time you point to something bad the left did, I simply reply "oh they weren't a true liberal". Much as I'm sure you would do if I started listing all the abusive laws conservatives/right have pushed through.

  • This information will be turned over to prospective employers when the child applies for a job after age 16. When applying for a job, applicants (who want to work) must sign a form giving permission for a prospective employer to get their school records.

These records will also be available to social welfare programs like medicaid, food stamps, aid to dependent children, child 'protective' services, the justice system and the medical system.

This could also be used to psychologically profile

  • All the more reason to take that child tax credit, pony up a little extra money and send your kid to private school!

  • You guys put a lot of effort in to titling this video

  • @98nafets Glad to see you guys changed it to something more descriptive instead of ReasonTV Video ####

  • This is conditioning for future generations to accept more and more authority over their lives once they enter adulthood.

Everything from zero tolerance policies, to being told what they can eat, the schools are where we can see the future of America, if we don't do something about it.

  • @chronDiggity Hear hear!

  • Too late, we are already conditioned - how many already accept that the government can tell us what we eat, what we consume?

  • big brother just got bigger

  • We'll see how big and bad they are when Ron Paul shuts them down. RON PAUL 2012!
