As for the mining, I forget what date the march was on, but it's important to remember that all your anti-capitalist fruit loops / far left loonies always come out to play around that date. I'm not sure why you think that protected conservation land is a "potential mining site" that needs to be surveyed. If you're not going to destroy conservation land then you have no need to survey it in the first place.

I think we should switch the flag to the silver fern. It's simple and is commonly related to New Zealand. It's also not related to any race which I think is good, since New Zealand is far more than just Maori and European - so we shouldn't focus on using maori symbols or european symbols - but creating a new zealand brand which we can all unite under.

Yes Our Canadian Flag is great. The Maple Leaf design was a great debate during the Pearson years. It was all about symplicity. I would design NZ flag with the national symbol and the Southern Cross.

Secondly, stop getting students into thousands of dollars in debt which encourages them to move abroad to avoid paying it back.

Thirdly, realise that the richest man is not the one with the most money, but the man who needs the least.

EG, free or even more highly subsidized fees.

The only way to stop students getting into debt is to

cut the interest free loans. That way, dropkicks who only do a course for the hell of it are discouraged and people who *really* want to study will study, knowing if they invest in themselves in the present, it will pay off in the future for them and their country.

Wait until you have a $30,000 student debt and see a job prospect abroad where you don't have to repay your loan. It's attractive to many well educated students. Its none as the 'brain drain'.

As for owning our own banks.....well none of us really want banks because they funnel wealth unfairly to the rich. So why would we want all that wealth going to Australia?

I don't give two hoot's who owns my bank, as long as it provides the services I expect. The fact is we are a small country, and until a time that we are not, overseas groups will dominate many areas of our economy.
