This is kind of late I guess but I still want to answer (because I wasn't into DW when you made this) I actually got into DW because a friend of mine sent me The Impossible Astronaut from Series 6 and I LOVED it so I decided to go back to the beginning of Series 5 and make my way through to the end of 6. That took me about 3 days and then I decided to go back to Series 1 and make my way through Eccleston and Tennant and that took me a couple weeks! Now I'm heading back to 1963 in my TARDIS ;]
It´s strange, I just got into doctor who a week ago, after seeing it all over pinterest and hearing @nerimon and @charlieissocoollike talk so much about it!
And already I´ve watched almost an whole season! :) It´s pretty awesome!
I hadn´t heard much about it before, since I live in Norway, and we dont run it here.. :/
Only problem was that I really didn´t know where to start, so I just hopped on to the last season of the ninth doctor, so that at least I´ll have two more doctors to watch! :)
The Harry Potter fandom peer-pressured me into it. Everyone was like, "You've got to watch this show about this guy who's a time traveler" And I did. I can say it's developed into an obssession I guess...
I saw a link to Don't Blink on YouTube the summer of '09 and loved it, checked out all the other videos from the Chameleon Circuit guys and the music was so intriguing I had to see what this Doctor Who thing was all about. Now I'm hooked.
Let's see, I was on a really short vacaction at this ski resort this spring. That day there was a Doctor Who marathon on Space and I was utterly bored in the hotel room so I flipped to that channel since I've heard of it vaguely before. I wanted to see what it was about, you know? My first episode was Vincent and the Doctor which I know, I started EXTREMELY late. I went back and watched episodes of Doctor Who and have been in love ever since. :)
I started watching Doctor Who as a child in the late 1970s. My mom was a fan and she would let me stay up late to watch (it aired at 11pm on Sunday nights, way past my bed time). My first Doctor was Pertwee, but my favorite classic Doctor is Tom Baker. I met Tom Baker in 1990 at a Doctor Who Con that used to be held annually in Chicago. He was an amazing person - instead of fans lining up, he had them stand around in a ballroom and he went to each person personally for photos and autographs.
I got into it this summer. A lot of my college friends were into it, and I knew that I would need something to stave off the boredom of staying at home all summer away from my friends. I also like a lot of other british tv shows, so I thought I might like it. I was right; it's now my favorite show!
It's because of Kristina and you that I read the Hunger Games, and because of The Oceanic Six that I started watching Lost with my best friend, bu as for Who I wasn't really even aware of Trock until after I got into it.
I only got into Doctor Who in April, I knew people who liked it, and I knew that a lot of the people I look up to online liked it, but I didn't realize to what extent until Easter when my entire Twitter feed was about Doctor Who coming back... for a while I kinda resented it, I thought I was going to hate it ad I didn't want to watch it. But when I saw just HOW MANY of my friends watched I thought what the heck, may as well see what I'm missing. Now I'm 100% caught up and it's my favourite show!
I was super late but got into it as soon as I started it. I'd heard a lot about it from watching youtubers, mostly Alex and Charlie, and then started seeing a ton of ad's on the Space channel and on bus stops for the sixth season. I googled and watched the Fine Brothers Doctor Who in five minutes or whatever and started with season one of new Who. I watched at least five episodes that night. I got completely caught up and watched my first episode on TV when the episodes about the flesh aired.
My sister forced me to watch the first episode of season 5, then I didn't have to be forced anymore. Then I went back and watch season 1-4 while season 6 premiered. watch it all in about 2 months!
I first heard about Chameleon Circuit (and later Doctor Who) through Alex Day and Charlie McDonnell's videos, but didn't start watching it until very recently, after I'd started talking to several Nerdfighters who all told me how awesome the show was. So my friend and I decided we would both start watching it and we love it!
I got into Doctor Who almost exactly the same way Alex did. Only I came to it through Charlie's channel and his ukulele version of Exterminate Regenerate. I liked that a lot, so I checked out the band and the album and I thought the music was so good that I ought to watch the show. And then, of course, I fell in love with the show.
so many youtubers sang its praises (no pun intended) I decided to check it out. I think I saw one episode with 11 and decided to start from the beginning (of the new series not the old ones) and now it's like my favorite thing everrr
I actually got into Doctor who after Travis put out a parody of Tik Tok and it was posted on effyeahnerdfighters, there was a couple of references to Doctor who and so I checked it out. I'm so glad I did, though it was a bit of torture when Series 5 came out and I had watched the first part of the finale and had to wait over a month to see the second part after I got back from Madagascar. Luckily I had a Doctor Who friend with me and we could freak out together!
I am English. I first got into Doctor Who when the first 9th Doctor/Rose episode came out when I was like 7 or 8. My Mum (or Mom) used to watch it when she was young so she wanted to see what it was like when it returned so my whole family watched. I loved it and have watched every episode since. :)
I got tired of practically everyone on YouTube going on and on about how great it was. I mean it was just a TV show. So last January I caved and watched the first episode of Nine's season, and was halfway through season three the next day. So yeah.
I saw your Contour show in DC and I loved the song about Doctor Who that you sang so I started watching it the next day. And I'm just finishing up watching all the episodes today. I love it!
I only watch it because my best friend and boyfriend love it! they're complete doctor who nerds and insist i watch it every week! being in england i guess its quite normal to watch it though... everyone i know likes it at least a bit! but i am one of the few it seems who loves matt smith! i think its cos iv seen him in other things and i loved him before doctor who though...
Actually, it was kind of because of you, Alex. I had heard about it before, and I kept hearing about it, but then I went on youtube and saw that you liked some random doctor who video. I got fed up with not knowing what it was, and started with the first episode. Watched it almost nonstop for about two or three days, and only stopped watching nonstop because of school.
I did not start wataching till right before the sixth season came out. I had heard so many people talking about "Doctor Who" and I saw a marathon on New Years on BBC America. I started to watch an episode and thought it looked interesting so I watched another. So I decided when I had the time I would catch up on the show. I ended up watching all 6 seasons and the specials over a month.
I have not gotten into Doctor Who ONLY because I don't know where to start. I've heard so many conflicting stories on where I should pick up, start, etc. And so, for fear of getting it wrong, I've avoided it. I have season 1 - current now, and will probably start it soon. Maybe. Hopefully.
My Doctor story is kinda solemn but ends well! I had just got out of a long term relationship and I was feeling really down in the dumps. A friend of mine burned the first 2 seasons for me to watch and I just loved it! When my friend moved I didn't know where or how I could watch the show, so it wasn't until last month that I got to get back into watching it again! I'm so excited for part 2 of season 6 to start up I'm making a 11th Doc costume for Dragon*Con! :)
We only got a TV in my house about 5 years ago, soon after that I was channel surfing and I stumbled upon one of David Tennant's first episodes (can't remember which) I fell madly in love with the whole show (and David Tennant's hair) and I've been obsessed ever since. When I got into youtube about a year ago I was very happy to find so many youtubers who loved it too.
My husband's been watching Doctor Who since he was a little kid, so it was really only a matter of time. ;) He was very excited that I got into the new series but keeps reminding me that there's so much I don't know since I haven't seen much of the older series.
My mom watched the original Doctor Who back in the day and started watching the new seasons randomly on cable. I watched a David Tennant episode with her and my interest was peaked. I was talking to one of my coworkers about it who happened to own the dvds of seasons one and two. He lent them to me and I was hooked. It's been almost three years and I can't imagine my life without it.
Two of my best friends and I have what we playfully call a "Nerd Competition". Basically, it's a competition to see who is the nerdiest. There's points for having read all the HP books, seen the films, seen AVPM/AVPS/MAMD/Starship/LWL, read the Hunger Games, seen Dr. Who and lately now: Merlin. So both my friends had seen Dr. Who and they basically forced me to watch it. I finished the first season (from 2005) within one weekend.
I had heard about doctor who before but never really attempted to itch it but I saw it on netflix streaming and decided to check it out as I am pretty interested in all things British. This was during series 4 I think? I admit, I was hesitant after watching the first episode - crazy mannequins what? But by episode two I was hooked. Just such a great show!
My friend Freya begged me for years to watch it and I didn't until I discovered most of my favorite YouTubers love it!! (You, Kristina, Kayley, Alex ((other Alex- Alex Day)) Charlie, Rosie... etc.)
I only started this season but I've just watched Rose and now I'm watching The End of The World.
I became interested in doctor who just when series 4 have just ended!
I remember I was trolling around the internet looking for something else nerdy to cling too and I stumbled onto a blog of someone talking about Doctor Who
Later
Kristina mentioned it in her videos a few times and THEN Charlie McDonnell made a video about and I knew I must find out what this awesomeness is!
Charlie McDonnell told me to watch it. Not, uh, in person or anything because I don't know him, but he mentioned it in enough of his videos that I was finally like fine, I'll watch it. I was kind of resistant to it at first. I knew people who watched it, but I thought it was gonna be so weird. I started on series 1 last spring so I'm kinda new to it too. And then I literally didn't do anything all last summer and just watch DW. Now I'm obsessed and have gotten all my friends obsessed too.
I first heard about Dr Who from Charlie's Blink video, but I only started watching it this summer after caving to peer pressure. I watched all of New Who in about ten days. I can't believe what I had been missing all this time.
I got into late too! During the fifth season. It seemed as if everyone watched it but me, like the whole tumblr universe and my friends and brother. So I watched it and I fell in love!
aaaaand I got into Doctor Who the same way I got into LOST - everyone I followed online was constantly tweeting about it and I wanted to know what the hype was about. Watched it, fell in love with it, and the rest is history!
my brother watches doctor who and and i tried to watch it. i've tried several times but i just cannot get around the cornyness and just how bad the quality of the effects are. Sometimes i get around that and i really wanted to but i just couldn't....so i really really really don't like doctor who but i do like some trock songs! a little weird but some of them aren't completely specific to doctor who so i can relate to them in different ways. =)
I only got into it 3 months ago... 2 of my friends were bothering me about it, then i went to a New Years party and someone was playing "the Idiot's Lantern" i liked the episode, but thought it rather strange. Too bothered by classes and later exams to look into it further. Summer came round and i was reminded of it by a girl sitting across from me wearing white hi tops and a "trust me, im the doctor" shirt at an audition for a show. I asked her where she got such awesome shoes and the meaning
@VadaliaOnions I would definitely recommend starting with Series 1 of New!Who. You need to know Nine because it's like a requirement of life. He's so adorable.
Here's a link to a good site that has all six seasons so far: .watch- doctor-who- online .com (take out the spaces)
I'm sure there are better sites out there, but this one works and the only episode it doesn't have is The Runaway Bride. :D Have fun watching!
I owe all my nerdy origin stories (except Harry Potter) to my friend I've been roleplaying with for two years. Her character would always make the strangest and obscurest references. I eventually discovered that a lot of these were Doctor Who references, and in January (after catching a bit of The Idiot's Lantern on Space Channel) I decided to watch it. I started at Series 1 of New!Who and loved every minute. Then I got obsessed, and the rest is history!
I have not yet watched Doctor Who, but I've been meaning to for like...6 months now. My dad used to really like the show, and Charlie, Alex Day, and you are always talking about how amazing it is. My biggest problem is that I don't know where to start! One of my friends told me season 5, but you just said that season 4 is really good :/ Please help?
I am actually the third generation of Doctor Who fans in my family. My dad was born in Australia and my Papa watched the original series while it was on so when they made new who my house sat down and watched it as a family.
I remember my parents wathing Doctor Who when I was a kid and we lived in the UK.. wouldn't have a clue what season they were watching but I remember being afraid of the doctor! then when the show re-started in 2005 I caught a few here and there- the obsession grew and it's gotten better and better!
I don't remeber exactly when but I started watching it with my older brother and the first couple I can remember were with Chris Eccleston but I really didn't get into it fully until David Tennant. Last year I decided to watch every episode from the begining of the 2005 restart and I do want start watching the old series.
A few months after season 4 came out, my sister showed me 2 episodes from season 2, which I promptly forgot about for a few more months. Then I was bored and remembered liking the 2 episodes, so I watched an episode or 2 every night for a while until I was caught up, only a little bit before season 5 aired.
what is keeping me from finally meeting the doctor? graduate school (and full-time work and two tiny humans). but i graduate in december, and it's waiting for me in my netflix queue when i submit that final final exam! :)
My friends forced me to watch Blink, and when i got home i saw you uploaded your song, Blink. And it was so cool i had to watch the show. up until then i just figured the daleks where too stupid looking for any sci-fi show. so untrue. thank you Alex!
So for a really long time I was only vaguely aware of Doctor Who; I knew that it was a nerd thing that I should get into, but I never did. At least until I met this girl at my school in February or March who was a nerdfighter (she saw my ALL CAPS shirt) and she asked if I watched it. I said that sadly I didn't, upon which she gave me a look that could easily kill a weeping angel. So by the time that the sixth season aired, I had seen all of the new Who. My only regret is my tardiness.
I finally got fed up of seeing everyone fangirling (and more often than not MOFFAT!ing) about it on tumblr, and only vaguely understanding what was going on. So I sat down and watched all of new Who. In about a week. Sleep? INTERNET PEOPLE DON'T NEED SLEEP. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK! I just started working my way through Classic Who and OMG! OMG OMG OMG! IT'S BLACK AND WHITE AND THE MUSIC IS LIKE ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME (but less new) AND IT GOES VWORP VWORP AND EVERYTHING and omg I'm in love.... xD
I didnt get into doctor who untill series 5 so im even later than you :') i have a really annoying girl who lives down my street and she's pretty odd. all she talks about is doctor and she kept asking me if i'd watched any of the new series so to stop her bugging me i did and i practically fell in love with it :')
There were 3 girls not including me at my lunch table senior year and basically all they talked about was Dr Who.So it was either find out what was up or leave the table. I didn't have any other friends in my lunch, so I found out what was up. I sat down one Saturday, caught the second half of a rerun of Voyage of the Damned (my first full episode was Doctor's Daughter on BBCAmerica) and I've been obsessed ever since. I've seen every New Who episode and I'm working on Classic as well, 2,3,5 esp
I was at an anime con and there was an 11 cosplayer. My friends were talking to him about the show and I was confused. So when I got home from the con I watched some to understand what they were talking about. Then i just started watching more and more till I had seen all of the episode with 9-11 and bits of the other doctors!!
i could not sleep one night so i went to watch some tv at about 12 until i was sleep-E and i was fliping chanels and there was david yelling at the beast and i just thought "he's gonna die, i'll watch" then he was just a boss and i watched the next one and the next one until about 6am then i got ready for school and i could not stop thinking about it so i got the first two seasons of it the next day
am old school Whovian i watched it from the Tom Baker years as i am from the uk and watching it from a little girl until now it still draws me in too it am very lucky as i meet both Tom Baker and David Tennant . in fact Tom live's not that far from me and often see him in town doing his shopping it just fab
My uncle has always been a huge scifi nerd, including a Whovian. A year and a half ago I saw him watching Doctor Who, a show I'd heard about but never actually watched, and was intrigued. He gave me series 5 to watch and I've been a Whovian ever since. I then went back to watch 1-4 and some of the 4th Doctor. Also, because it's what I always do when I find something I really really like, I talked about it non-stop until a few of my friends gave it a try. Now we watch it together :)
Phff.... well, I saw the first episode of torchwood with my family, but we didn't decide to watch the rest of it. And then My brother started watching the first season, which I didn't really get into. And at the same time my sister was getting into Alex's videos while they were putting out the first chameleon circuit album. So I was getting into his videos/vlogbrothers videos as well, and then the first episode I saw was The Doctor Dances.... And then I we watched it all the way through. :)
When my dad was younger he always watched doctor who, so when it came back out, I watched it with him because he said it was really good, so I watched like the first episode and I was so amazed that I just kept watching, I sorta stopped watching it when Martha came on and then like started again with Donna, I now have all the episodes from series 1 and like watch 3 a week if I have time, Doctor Who is a massive part of my life.
I remember watching the tom baker stuff and the first season with rose alot when I went to my dads house as a little kid, but It scared me. Then 4 years ago I was at his house and they had a marathon of all the best episodes in order as voted by viewers, I saw the empty child and blink, that's when I got hooked.
So I went home and watched all the new seasons online within a few months.
Now im a super obsessed Whovian and Ive painted the door to my bedroom like the front of the tardis.
I started watching Doctor Who in high school... I watched BBC America a lot and I saw a couple of random episodes over a long period of time and I guess I liked it enough to want to record it and try to watch it from the begining.I think I started it when Season 4 was airing originally and I eventually went back and watched it from season 1.
The Harry Potter fandom peer pressured me into it XD I just kept hearing everyone talk about it and when I finally started watching I really enjoyed it :) I'm working on some trock right now too.
they were showing reruns on the Sci-fi station (back when it was still sci fi) a few years ago. I was hooked. I watched 3 and a half seasons to catch up in about 2 weeks during my sophomore year of high school and have been watching it since. having to wait for episodes sent me to youtube watching fan videos, until I stumbled upon littleradge (liam)s videos and vola discovered vlogging, and the green bros, Kristina, you, alex and charlie, and everybody. Doctor who changed my life basically. :D
saw my first episode of Dr. Who in May, but I couldn't really follow it because it was mid-season and I didn't really know the premise. Didn't realize it was on netflix instant until this vid
I didn't want to do homework one day and I was browsing Netflix..I looked in the British TV section and saw it had really high ratings. I've been a massive fan since that day!
I got into Doctor Who after watching five awesome girls/guys and hearing Alex, Charlie, and Kayley talk so much about it, and it sounded like something I would like, and it was. And now 4 of my friends and I watch it together, and it's super fun.
I got into Doctor Who because I saw you had posted some things about it a some songs and I was just like "this sounds cool". I just watched series 1-5 on Netflix and what is put of series 6 in less than a month and now I can't wait for the next episode!
I followed you, Charlieissocoollike (spelling?), and Nerimon. And you guys just always talked about it, and then you posted the song Don't Blink and I really liked it so I figured that I might as well see if I liked the show. So this was this year, my mom and I started watching season 6 and were so lost, so we watched seasons 1-4 these past few months, and I still have to get season 5. So Alex, you're one of the reasons I'm obsessed with Doctor Who.
It's hard for me to remember how I got into Doctor Who. I remember seeing the box set of the first series on Amazon way back when and thinking it sounded cool. But I don't think I really sat down and started watching the show until 2009. I honestly can't remember what prompted me to do so. Like everyone else it probably had something to do with the internet.
I actually watched Torchwood first, because my sister told me to... she hadn't watched Doctor Who at that point either. But then I ran out of TW episodes to watch, and we both started watching Doctor Who.
I'm in England so I've been watching Doctor Who since 2005 when Christopher Eccleston played the Doctor. Me and a friend would watch the new episodes aired on the weekends then talk about it all week at school.
I heard a bunch of people talking about Doctor Who online, but I was never really motivated to go out and watch it. One day I passes it on my TV and decided to see what all the hype was about. My first episode was Journey's End, so you could imagine how confused I was. Yet, I still loved the show from the first moment I saw it, and decided to go back and watch the whole thing.
My AMAZING latin tracher has been a huge fan from he start and she told me about it, and now it is my second favorite story, next to Harry Potter. I remember the day Elizabeth Sladen died (Requiescat in Pace Liz), who was my Latin teacher's all-a-round favorite person, I was the one to tell her and she started sobbing, which was so sad to watch.
I got into Doctor Who actually because of someone online. One of my friends is lucky enough to have BBC America and he used to rant to me all the time about this show about a time traveler. I kind of forgot about it until the next time I went to the library, though, and I was looking for a movie and saw the first and second seasons on the shelf. One episode with Eccleston and I was hooked. It was just such a fun show. And that's how I became a Whovian.
I got into it about two years ago. I had just become friends with my now best friend Katie and she was completely obsessed with the show and always talking about it, making references, etc. So I went and watched the first episode and was instantly hooked. It soon became a regular thing to talk about what episode I was on in gym. I had caught up by Christmas break. And thus, a new whovian was born.
A friend of a friend randomly showed me "The Runaway Bride" and then immediately after she showed me "Blink" back in 2008. I was hooked and made sure to own all four seasons pretty much immediately. I even made sure to go to comic book stores and pick up as much merchandise as I could when I was in London.
I honestly can't imagine my life without Doctor Who anymore. In a way it's become a part of who I am. It always has been and will continue to be... FANTASTIC!
I first found out about it when they had a free download on itunes, it was I think only part of the first episode but then everyone kept mentioning it and so I downloaded all of season 5, first one with matt smith. but I didn't end up watching them until recently, spring break or so and I've been hooked ever since. and got lucky that a friend has the DVDs of when David Tennent was on so I can finally catch up on that too! :]
I Started watching Doctor Who when Martha became the companion and I think I was under my friends demands to start watching the new series and I have never looked back. Me and my friends now have discussions every week about it as we all have our own theories or we have to explain something about the episode that one of them didn't understand. My sister took my to a Doctor Who Exhibition 2 years ago and it was so much fun. But I'm missing the first episode of the new series due to a holiday :(
I started watching Doctor Who on a night when it was like 1am on APTN which is extremely weird as thats a Native channel. ... :/ And I watched Eccelstone and fell in love. XD My dad told me he was made to watch it with his son (my step brother) as he's not a fan of Tom Baker. XD Peter Davidson and Peter Cushing are neck and neck with my second favorite. XD <3
My mum's English (We live in Australia) and she watched it as a child, then she noticed that the new one (the Christopher Ecclestone one) aired and she watched it with me and my sister ( I was about 9) and I've been hooked ever since!!
Freshman year, one of my friends was into doctor who, and she tried to get me to watch it for a few months. I kinda forgot about it until I saw Charlie's acoustic "Blink" and remembered I was supposed to watch the show, so I started from 2005 and caught up kinda by the time season 4 was ending...the end of time aired a few months after I caught up.
i was in PE and my friend was talking about how the next season (3) is starting and how excited she was. a bunch of us had not seen it so she started describing it and i thought it sounded kinda lame cause to me it sounded like a young version of doc brown traveling with a girl (she didnt describe it very well)but then Netflix kept telling me to watch it and she insisted it was the best show ever so eventually i gave in and watched it and loved it. and now i bug her about watching on time
@gypsiecat1 ive seen episodes from all the different doctors and while a lot of the episodes from the old series are good i also really like the current ones
Here (Spain) Dr. Who wasn't really known, so I started watching it like two years ago or so because any particular reason, I thought it seems to be awesome, and it was (and it is). This year Doctor Who started to be in TV so, now a lot of people know it, but normally they think it's a children show. I don't know why.
I was at a Halloween party this past halloween with a bunch of my friends and on of my friends who is a huge doctor who fan was dressed up as the doctor. A majority of the people there didn't know what doctor who was and we were trying to find something to watch so we (her) ended up deciding to watch Blink. I've been hooked ever since.
My Mom has been a Whovian since the Tom Baker days and when the new series started she wanted to me to watch it with her but I thought "oh my Mom's watching it, it's not cool." Then I happened to catch a rerun of Blink and I was like this is amazing and mind blowing, so I started watching regularly during series 4 and was hooked.
I got into Doctor Who the night that Blink premiered. I was flipping channels trying to find something good to wash the dishes to and landed on it just as the episode was starting, and it was such a transfixing episode I tuned in the next weekend as well, and the rest is history! :)
I watched Charlie and Alex since 2007 and then at the end of 2010 I realized that I should watch this Doctor Who thing they had been talking about for years. And I had friends that were really into it. Plus I think you and Kristina had also mentioned it and that really pushed me into starting to watch it. As of about a week ago, I'm caught up to the end of series 5. I'm waiting for 6 to come from Netflix. And I'm very obsessed with it now. I even have Doctor Who shoes. :)
I got into DW after seeing amazing (and hilarious) drawings by Emmy Cicierega. And I wanted to know what the jokes were! Also two of my friends were really into it so I thought I would try it out! It didn't have anything to do with CC, lol.
I haven't gotten into it for two reasons. The main one is that there has been so much already and it would take forever to catch up. Another (which is kind of close to the first) is that I don;t really have the time to watch a "new" show.
I met my friend Annika ("Drwholvr" here on YouTube) in a class last September, and we made a deal that I'd watch Doctor Who, which she was obsessed with, if she'd watch LOST, which I was obsessed with. We finally got around to it in January, and I spent my last semester of college becoming addicted to Doctor Who. She, unfortunately, kind of hates LOST. Oh well, can't win 'em all.
I love the song "Type 40!" Love your EP too, Alex! :)
I finally started to watch it after one of charlieissocoollike videos. I think I left a comment, asking about it, and some awesome person responded and told me to give it a shot! Thank you Netflix for instant stream...I watched the first five seasons in record time, finishing just a week or two before series 6 started :D
A whole group of my friends are fans and gave me hell about never having seen it so I started watching it when it just happened to air on SciFy, which was disorienting at best, and then I started finding it online.
(Also I came to your show in Austin and had like the best time ever even with out lights! I wanted to say thanks for being awesome and coming and then giving me the Tardis Key Ep which I wore like a real necklace for almost a week.)
Like a lot of your viewers (and you) I found Doctor Who via Chameleon Circuit. I'd heard Charlie and Alex talking about it so much on their channels and then I listened to the music and was so confused but intrigued that I looked it up. So I got into Doctor Who partway through season 5. Matt Smith is an amazing person to lose your Whoginity to.
Well, I just watched it when it was on TV, and really enjoyed the more episodic seasons of the Tenth Doctor for a couple years, and then I really started following when the next series came out and Eleven started taking over. And there was much rejoicing.
I was over at my friends house and she was watching it on OnDemand. It was Season Five, Episode Two and by this time Episode One had gone off OnDemand. So I was totally hooked, but I didn't actually get to see The Eleventh Hour until after The Pandorica Opens. It was an odd experience.
ive been watching since the beginning of the 4th season, my friend sat me down and made me watch the first couple episodes in the first series, and then i was hooked!
i've been watching it since the 1st season in 2005... i walked into my living room while my dad was watching it and i sat down and got absorbed by it! i have been completely in love with it since then! :D
I went on a trip to Quebec with other french students in my state and I met these two girls that were the first nerdfighters that I met IRL and they also shared my huge love for Harry Potter. They were always talking about this show called Doctor Who that they loved. I decided to try it out since I loved everything else that they were into and have been a huge Whovian ever since.
My cousin got into Doctor Who, I guess when it was revived, she got all the classic seasons for Christmas an even made Tom Baker's scarf. My grandma and aunt were into it before then and they bonded over that. I got jealous an checked it out at the beginning of series 5. And I introduced a lot of my friends to it. :)
When series one first aired in Canada my uncle put it on when I was at my grandparents. He was a fan of the old Who and we watched the pilot episode. But i was still not into Sci-fi. Then I found it one tv again during series 3 and again during series 4. But they kept changing the time it was on and stopped airing it all together. So last summer I watched series 1-5 back to back and now I'm in love with it. (still have to watch it on the computor :( )
i just recently got into Doctor Who in May. My friend invited me and my two friends over to show us a few episodes. Since then I've been a HUGE fan. It's funny because I got into Harry Potter a similar way when my cousin handed me the book. It seems I need to be directed when it comes to new things.
the only thing that is keeping me from watching Dr Who is my summer homework . I know if i get into Dr Who, i will love it and never stop watching and my summer homework wont get done. but once it is done, i will start. because i dont care about school homework. just summer homework.
I saw some Series 2 and Series 5 stuff when they were first airing it, but I never figured out the timeslot so I didn't get into DW.
Until last week. I finally realized I had a DVR so I just programmed it to record all the DW episodes (there's like four a day) and I started watching them. Why was I motivated now? Because of your EP. Yes Alex, you got me into DW.
i watched the first episode with my mom and my little brother when it aired in canada, and my brother and i loved it. we both have watched every single episode of doctor who and torchwood. it the one thing that we really connected on.
I first started hearing about Doctor Who from a bunch of people I watch on YouTube (Charlie, Kristina, Liam, and you). I decided that I was going to start watching it this summer just to see what it was all about (I've always really liked sci-fi so I figured there was a pretty good chance that I would like it). I started at the beginning of the first series and instantly loved it. I'm over half way through the third series and I want to be caught up before school starts. It is amazing!
@ILars23 The third series is epic. But the fourth is even epic-er. Just wait till you see the end of "Partners in Crime"—I majorly freaked out. And DON'T LOOK UP ANY SPOILERS.
In 2006, my friend talked me into watching the show with him. I really didn't want to because, you know... Blue Box- Alien- Space and Time... He had the basement decked out with Whovian decorations. I didn't get it at all, but then we watched the Second season all in one weekend and I was hooked. He was really sick when I agreed to spend that weekend with him and he passed away before the forth season aired. I'm glad we had that one more amazing thing that we could share.
I started watching Doctor Who in seventh grade, about six years ago. I just found it somehow on tv and started watching it haha. It was before anyone had anyone over here in America really knew about it. It's wasn't until four years later I met other people who watch it too. :D
When I was in middle school my family went to England every Christmas b/c my English grandmother couldn't go on planes anymore, so my whole family ended up watching those 3 DW Christmas specials. I loved them but only watched a couple other DW episodes (usually on the plane) until about a year ago, mostly because my older sister was into super it. I ended up watching all of series 1-5 in ~3 months & it's a bit of a family tradition now since my mom used to watch DW when she was a kid. :)
I got into doctor who kind of the same way that you did. As all good fangirls, I am subscribed to both Alex and Charlie. As they were coming out with Chameleon Circuit, I liked the music, but never got the references. When An Awful lot of running was made into a music video, I went looking for more music videos, and I fell in love with Blink (someone had taken clips from the show and put it to the song). because of that I went and watched the whole new series. I started just before season 5
I had a ton a friends that watched Doctor Who and told me to watch. I didn't get a chance to actually watch it until mid May of this year when I finally got Netflix. I watch from Christopher Eccleston season 1 to the Matt Smith Season 6 midseason finale in like three weeks. All I did was work, come home and watch Doctor Who. Then that got me in to Torchwood too because Jack Harkness is one of my favorite characters. I'm totally obsessed! My brother bought me a Tardis painting for my birthday!
lets just say it had alot to do wtih your vloging talking about it and also a video of Charlies i think and also even a video i saw of MGM's about time travel with a phone booth and it was cool to find it on netflix and so now I am caught up with series 6 ...but they havent added series 6th yet
I "got into doctor who:" by means of you talking about it in your vlog and I think and I once we got netflix I was able to catch up to the most recent series but they do not have 6 on there yet ...O and it was after seeing a mystery guitar man video ABOUT time travel too
I went on a 16+ hour STRAIGHT drive to Washington, D.C. from St. Louis and the first day we were there, we were too tired to go out. So we ordered pizza and watched Doctor Who from the beginning, and I became obsessed! :)
I remember watching Doctor Who on PBS as a kid...it was the seventh doctor, I think. Never was super into it, though my dad liked it a lot. I've caught a few episodes of the newer seasons on tv, but I've been thinking about watching it on Netflix.
My story is probably not unique: i watched Charlieissocoollike for forever and when we got netflix streaming and i saw that the new Dr Who was on it i figured i'd try it since i love nerdy things, sci-fi, and Charlie. And i loved it! I watch at least one episode a day :)
I was watching a handful of nerdfighter vloggers that seemed to mention the series quite a bit. I watched the first three or four episodes and stopped. Then Karen Kavett did a video about nerd inside jokes, and it motivated me to finish the show. I actually finished season four when season 5 was airing in UK. ^_^
I got into Doctor Who last winter when "The End of Time,Part 1" was airing for the first time. I had been at home just flipping through channels that night and decided to watch it. I had heard about Doctor Who from a bunch of other nerdfighters, but I just never seemed to have time to watch. So,nothing else was on and I was bored,so why not right? I instantly fell in love with it. Looking back, season 4 finale isn't really the best episode to start off on,huh?
A couple years ago my dad got into this motorcycle accident. My family and I spent all the time I could with him in the hospital so naturally we watched a lot of TV. One of the shows that came on was, you guessed it, Dr. Who! It was the episode called Gridlock with Martha, and I loved it so much! That mixed with knowing that a lot of people I watched on YouTube liked the show got me to start watching it! I remember the first episode I ever saw premiere was Water on Mars! Good times, good times..
i was twelve and my eldest sisters boyfriend put in a Tom Baker episode and i instantly fell in love, i had watched a ton of episodes from every doctor and owned quite a few seasons by the time the new series started up, i actually didnt get into the new series until David tennant's last season because i'm an old school fan but i do LOVE the new series as well! Patrick Troughton will always remain my Favorite Doctor though! <3 Watch some old school eps, guys! and enjoy!! :D

Oddly Alex's song (this Alex, Alex C)"Don't Blink" officially got me into Doctor Who. Thanks Alex for making my a Whovian....

I can't remember not watching Doctor Who. I'm a British Nerd so it goes with the territory.

AlissaTheSquib 6 months ago

So yeah, thanks for that x3

And I fell in love <3
allison2811 7 months ago
Charlie McDonnell told me to watch it. Not, uh, in person or anything because I don't know him, but he mentioned it in enough of his videos that I was finally like fine, I'll watch it. I was kind of resistant to it at first. I knew people who watched it, but I thought it was gonna be so weird. I started on series 1 last spring so I'm kinda new to it too. And then I literally didn't do anything all last summer and just watch DW. Now I'm obsessed and have gotten all my friends obsessed too.

I watched BBC America a lot and I saw a couple of random episodes over a long period of time and I guess I liked it enough to want to record it and try to watch it from the begining.I think I started it when Season 4 was airing originally and I eventually went back and watched it from season 1.

they were showing reruns on the Sci-fi station (back when it was still sci fi) a few years ago. :D

KoussFace 7 months ago

SkiesOfYellow 7 months ago
I got into it about two years ago. I had just become friends with my now best friend Katie and she was completely obsessed with the show and always talking about it, making references, etc. So I went and watched the first episode and was instantly hooked. It soon became a regular thing to talk about what episode I was on in gym. I had caught up by Christmas break. And thus, a new whovian was born.
bibliomaniac1 7 months ago

Like a lot of your viewers (and you) I found Doctor Who via Chameleon Circuit. I'd heard Charlie and Alex talking about it so much on their channels and then I listened to the music and was so confused but intrigued that I looked it up.
