The level of skinny where muscles were visible in my back and i didnt work out. i weighed 60 lbs in 6th grade

im in my last year of high school and because i have ADD it's estimated that i have the same brain development as a year 10 or early year 11 student, i can truly say that ritalin helps a lot. and while the side effects like depression, anger, small hallucinations, and sudden involuntary movements (i have more side effects) are difficult to contend with it's so much better then not having a chance at passing high school.

I took it only as prescribed but still experienced psychosis which got me expelled from the very school I was medicated in order to "function" in, appetite loss, daily stomach aches, hyper sensitivity, rage and agressive behavior. When I was expelled instead of being taken off the med my dosage was increased and I became dependant on it. Those are just words to many...but to me the scope of emotional effect words like this created in my life will be with me forever. I did not ask for or need it.

The thing with ritalin is, it facilitates self motivation. If a kid or an adult took ritalin and then went on and killed someone or partook in some sort of criminal behavior, chances are that those were things they had already considered but lacked the motivation for. This is a perfect example of why doctors shouldn't just hand this stuff out like candy. For otherwise healthy people (mentally and otherwise) who simply have a problem with self motivation and inhibition this is a great drug.

I take offense to this statement...there is nothing wrong with me yet I still took the medication as prescribed and still became dependant on it, developed tics and tourettes after 9 years of being forced to take it...I had a neck injury 6 months before my diagnoses that put unecessary stress on my brain stem which in turned caused ADHD type symptoms.

I don't know...my little brother was taking ritalin and he was really "dead" like a zombie, but when they lowered his dose he kind of went back to normal. I think it is really hard to draw the line between who has ADHD and who doesn't with children because all kids are hyper.

Danny was always quiet and when his littler brother joey started taking it, they were almost exactly the same. They had basically the same personality. I noticed it right after he took riddlin.
