The holly echmiatsin is apostolic. There ìs armenian orthodox church, but it's a minor one and isn't the national one. As far as I know it's headquarter isn't even in armenia.

it's odd to me how similar some of the hymns are to the western catholic hymns, if you compare them to the greek church especially. It is as if the Armenians became Latinized and the Greeks stayed authentic...what is the explanation for this???

I do know that there is a more authentic armenian chant than the hymns, perhaps like whats at the beginning of the video.
