You're all morons lol. Zeppelin didn't copy Hendrix, and Hendrix didn't copy Zeppelin. They both came from essentially the same influence, and if you hear a riff that Hendrix made you can't say Zeppelin stole it because chances are Hendrix recycled it from one of his old blues heros. Same goes for Zep.
I love his use of "9" chords, he just rocks those so well. It also makes it so the root "chord" if you will is in the middle of the scale.... I know that sounds really general but it definitley helped me out learning guitar adopting his sort of style. It's too bad he didn't stick around just imagine how much more he would have influenced music.
Sounds like a guy just beating out some chords to me. What's so great about this? I do it and people say, man that sounds like shit, but Jimi does this and every says, wow, what a guitar god. LMAO
Page and Hendrix were different. Electrically Hendrix was much heavier with his amps and distortion, Page was cleaner and in my opinion had more "feel". I prefer Page's solo's over Jimi's as they draw more emotion, I like Hendrix best when he is picking or chopping. My fave Hendrix song is Little Wing, possibly unmatched by any rock guitarist. Too many by Page to list here.
I wish Hendrix would have stayed with us so that he and Page could have jammed together, imagine that gig?
this sounds like bron yr aur by led zeppelin.. and the song no quarter page took the riff from machine gun .. well they did say the page , clapton , townson and all the british guitarist used to look up to jimi so it doesnt suprise me that the all stold shit from him
As was said previously, music is always a rip off, but there is always evolution... but sometimes someone comes along and there is a paridgm shift which pushes what is known to something new, that is what Mr Hendrix is capable of, a fucking paridigm shift.
Just enjoy the fuckin music for what it is. If you wanna bitch about Hendrix playing a Zeppelin song, go listen to zeppelin and get the fuck off this video, dummies. Page, Hendrix, whoever.. They all just wanted people to enjoy the music, either you do or you don't.
This is a poor use of the term "ripped off." Today the term has an all encompassing definition, when applied to one artist taking the chord progression or basic riff of another. Go back 80 years, when the blues was first being recorded by major artists. Apply the term then, and Robert Johnson ripped off Son House. Further down the road, BB King ripped off of T-Bone Walker. These men did not rip each other off, they instead sought to emulate and enhance, same can b said with Page.
@osirouslui70 Hendrix is a Rip off old blues musicians who were a rip off of older musicians who were a rip off of older musicians who then ripped off of older musicians. Music has evolved over many years pretty much this way...building off what came before.
Jimi Hendrix was murdered by his manager, James "Tappy" Wright alleges that Michael Jeffrey, once confessed to killing him by stuffing pills in his mouth and washing them down with bottles of red wine. Jeffrey's $2 million as a beneficiary on Hendrix's life insurance policy -- feared Hendrix was planning to fire him book, titled 'Rock Roadie', claims Jeffrey -- who died in a plane crash in 1973 -- told him in 1971 that Hendrix was "worth more to him dead than alive."
Bluesman always "rip off" other bluesman. Robert Johnson and Howling Wolfe both made a living in part by playing other peoples licks. Its a sign of respect. Btw Page, Hendrix, and all the other great guitarist from that time until now have one thing in common, Lenny Breau.
Nah that's not true Lupin. Breau came after Johnson and Howiling Wolfe. And Hendrix wasn't influenced by Breau. Hendrix got his jazz influences from Christian and Wes.
you must be kidding!!! are you saying that "Rain song" could possibly be a rip off??
DUDE,,, Get a grip,,, i like hendrix better too, but to say that Page is a cheap imitation of Hendrix??????,, thats lunacy !!! Sure,, he did copy some licks, but MY GOD Page,,, and you have to admit it,, was a GREAT writer! They are and will always be great in my mind,,,both of them!
Pages playing isn't influenced by Hendrix. Every guitarist including him looked up to him but he certainly wasn't influenced, SRV, yes but Page no. He wasn't robotic.
no it was'nt led zeppelin either. GOD are there any people with just a little musical intelligence here???
anyone saying Page was a rip off is nuts,, sure he played some of jimi's licks,,, but dont ev ery other guitar player on the planet do the same??? COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
i think rip off is a harsh term - i like to call it more "appreciating" than stealing
he never tried to pass all of his riffs as his own, he acknowledged that he derived much of his material from early blues guitarists, simply because he loved that genre so deeply and wanted to incorporate its sounds and ideas into zeppelin's heavier style
watch "it might get loud", the scene where he plays "rumble" by link wray. he was not a thief, merely a true lover of blues, only wishing to carry its meaning into a new realm, even if that meant "borrowing" a few riffs here and there
If people weren't copying licks, I doubt we would even have that many guitarists on this world. Stevie Ray Vaughan is heavily inspired by Albert King, but nobody blames him (nor should they)
@joetheman0131 They ripped off the prolific blues songwriter Willie Dixon, who wrote "You Need Love," recorded by Muddy Waters, which became "Whole Lotta Love," "Bring It On Home" (Sonny Boy Williamson), "You Shook Me," (Waters), & many others & they had to pay Dixon a 6-figure settlement before he died. Page took the position that his guitar work made the tunes theirs, but Plant didn't bother changing any of the lyrics.
@mphillips0052 I'd love to know any licks from zeppelin, the yardbirds, or anything that bares any similarity to Hendrix, because im almost possitive there aren't any.
You're all morons lol. Zeppelin didn't copy Hendrix, and Hendrix didn't copy Zeppelin.
