Personally I'm hoping to get in the navy (next year) for a few years as a combat specialist or Weapons tech to get me some free travel, then later maybe go over to the army as either a Combat engineer or an Ammo tech. RPGS can take out LAVS. Rpgs can take out Main battle tanks like the t-90 or merkava. They did it in Afghanistan when the Russians invaded. All you need is the anti tank round. Today when overseas they carry modern modular Styers and weapons, soon will be wearing multicam, MICH helmets and ballistic MOLLE Plate carriers and the latest equipment. The F88 Austyer was chosen was to support the Aussie arms industry since our nations are so close and also to make supply easier in joint ops.
Makes sense i guess, Easier to supply in joint ops, and since the nations are so close it would be much cheaper to buy from Australia than the US or others due to various trade agreements between our countries

Being there that day, to help out with the argument basically it goes like this.
These guys are trainee's on the NZ Infantry intake course, which runs for 3 months. They are at about month 2 and a 1/2 doing their 'close country' or for better words, jungle warfare phase. This section that is conducting a mock assault is testing all the soldiers as one as a section in a jungle environment, they have worked up to this by going through their fire
maneuver in pairs, in fours (fire teams) then up to section level. On completion of this two weeks of good times they go back to base in Christchurch, learn how to march like a real infantryman, graduate, then go to their respective battalions.
Regardless of who is better or what is what, all these young guys whether still in or not, can be proud to bear the history of their unit's on their shoulders now, and forever.
Good on them. It was a honor to pass the ones that we did.

As far as I know, we use 5.56mm because they are more likely to wound. Killing 1 soldier leaves the rest of his buddies with nothing to do but fight back, but a wounded man ties up resources, it takes at least 2 men to carry a wounded soldier on a stretcher right? That's effectively removing at least 3 enemies from the game. I helped carry a stretcher once but there were 4 of us carrying him.
100s of normal nz army men try to join s.a.s and you would be lucky if 5-10 people got in the s.a.s you have to do some elite sht man crazy stuff these fukn beast can kill any mo fuka with there pinky (little finger)

@gavinsrath to get into nz army is no problem you have to be able to run 2.4 km in 11mins at least. and 45 press upz and 100 sit ups/crunchies..... and eye sight is not such a problem depending on what trade you are doing they all have different requirements, but you have to be mentaly healthy and physically healthy... i sugest that you aim for nz sas because they are realy proffesional or join as an officer all have better pay than just a normal grunt..
I already know NZ trains with Australia but I just get the feeling that we should have more extensive military exercises with Australia.

RPGS can take out LAVS. Rpgs can take out Main battle tanks like the t-90 or merkava. They did it in Afghanistan when the Russians invaded. All you need is the anti tank round. Panzershrieks were taking out t-54s so think dickheads. in August 2006, an RPG-29 round penetrated the frontal ERA of a Challenger 2 tank during an engagement in al-Amarah, Iraq and wounded several crew members. In May 2008, The New York Times disclosed that an American M1 tank had also been damaged by an RPG-29 in Iraq

From looking at the RNZAF webpage i can see what you're saying about "vietnam war shit" though the B757 and C-130H is good. I don't know what rifle your Army is using but i looks like the same one Australia is using.
I think Canada should help NZ develop its own digital camo like we helped the USA develope ACU and should give NZ some of our CF-18's when we get the F-35's

What they lack in air support they make up for in other areas such as infantry and navy forces. But we contribute with what we can and we work alongside nations such as yours to great effect. Most Kiwis are proud of our armed forces, throughout history Kiwis have paid a high price and contributed heavily in military terms for such a small nation. Our forces still have high deployment rates all over the world. As for skills our men and women are highly trained and and well equiped. Our NZSAS are considered Tier One alongside ur Delta Force and DEVGRU, well above the skill of ur SEALs and Marines.

@Ghakhull123 Not cadets. Soldiers. Not all equipment is the same. What u see here is the OLD stuff that Kiwis wear while training the Aussies used to wear the same kind of stuff. Today when overseas they carry modern modular Styers and weapons, soon will be wearing multicam, MICH helmets and ballistic MOLLE Plate carriers and the latest equipment. The F88 Austyer was chosen was to support the Aussie arms industry since our nations are so close and also to make supply easier in joint ops.

Mean, quite a discussion.
Being there that day, to help out with the argument basically it goes like this.
These guys are trainee's on the NZ Infantry intake course, which runs for 3 months. They are at about month 2 and a 1/2 doing their 'close country' or for better words, jungle warfare phase. This section that is conducting a mock assault is testing all the soldiers as one as a section in a jungle environment, they have worked up to this by going through their fire

maneuver in pairs, in fours (fire teams) then up to section level. On completion of this two weeks of good times they go back to base in Christchurch, learn how to march like a real infantryman, graduate, then go to their respective battalions.
Regardless of who is better or what is what, all these young guys whether still in or not, can be proud to bear the history of their unit's on their shoulders now, and forever.
Good on them. It was a honor to pass the ones that we did.

As far as I know, we use 5.56mm because they are more likely to wound. Killing 1 soldier leaves the rest of his buddies with nothing to do but fight back, but a wounded man ties up resources, it takes at least 2 men to carry a wounded soldier on a stretcher right? That's effectively removing at least 3 enemies from the game. I helped carry a stretcher once but there were 4 of us carrying him.

Afganistan is better than North Island trg areas. If you want to trully soldier then stag on with the Brits ..its where the combat is !

@gavinsrath to get into nz army is no problem you have to be able to run 2.4 km in 11mins at least. and 45 press upz and 100 sit ups/crunchies..... and eye sight is not such a problem depending on what trade you are doing they all have different requirements, but you have to be mentaly healthy and physically healthy... i sugest that you aim for nz sas because they are realy proffesional or join as an officer all have better pay than just a normal grunt..

I always wanted to join the regiment,but since I only moved to NZ I joined territorials instead.
They should replace the F88 Austeyr with the C7+M203+Eotech sight.

as a member of the nz army infantry i wud happilly show u what weve got and how well wer trainind. its not our falt the government sends us on peace keeping missions instead of in2 battle as i wud ratha go ther. we recently had alot of aussie army pers cum 2 nz and train wif us and they culdnt keep up plus we r anzacs u shuld b respecting us instead of tryna be the usa of the southen hemoshpere coz every1 hates the us.

I haven't served in the military and realize I didn't have to because others volunteered.
Those willing to put on a uniform and go into harm's way are due all respect and support possible, no matter who's uniform it is - even an enemy soldier.
The true tragedy is that their service and sacrifice also protect fools like limskee.
Anyone not willing to respect the military should be willing to stand in front of them, not make stupid comments from the safety they provide.
