This song was the best to dance too in the early 90's in LA. Party crews battleing against each other...best ever if you grew up during this time! I'm 35 years old and proud to say we had some good ass music during MY time.
@HerAkanE505 Lol, funny. I seen that exact episode, fell in love with it but also wonders if theres any connection of this song in the Religion Santeria
@rwtruler I'm Sure Sense They're Chanting To Yemaya Who From What I Understand Is The Ocean Goddess You Pray To For Good Luck/Travel, Among Other Things. I Believe Ochun Is For Love Too But Both Are Santeria Yoruba religion Practiced In West African and Caribbean As Well As Brazil Too.
@rwtruler from what I know she's singing in a dialect of West Africa, some of the Cuban god's like (He is an Orisha, representing the Supreme God Olorun on Earth. The name Babalú-Ayé translates as “Father, Lord of the Earth” and Jude are god from Africa and brought with the slaves to Cuba.., so I guess it a since it is Santeria
wow i rememer this song! my sister used to blast this track at like 2am like if it was nobody's damn business! i also remember when this track was featured in a spanish coca cola commerical... shit was phenomenal!
@Kmesa48012 I'm not from Boston but i like 30 minutes away in a town called Lawrence. Monday nights theres a house class/jam/bug out/and so on. It's only 1$ to get in and its from 7 to 9:45 its freaking fun.
This brings back some memories, original version as always is the best version. Has to be right up there as one of the best house music female vocals of all time!
@Kmesa48012 Oh yessss. I agree. The first time I heard this was at Limelight in NYC on a Wednesday night for a party called Res-Erection. The attic room had creaky wood floors and go-go boys. Heaven in a church.
the best song!
