@mystermerry If you take the time to read the URTEXT edition of the score, you´ll realize that the lower notes on the first page of the Aria are indicated as optional. That`s what Händel wrote. I generally decide to take the optional notes when there is a repetition or a Da Capo form, but this is not the case. This is not a Da Capo Aria. I invite you to study the piece from the URTEXT edition (Original) and show us your version with Orchestra. Greetings and thanks for the comment.
@ColoraturaBaritone lol, I don't have a URTEXT edition. Mine just says "* Handel wrote both notes." I just think the lower notes sounds better; that's all I'm saying.
@IntelligentSEEKER Thanks for your comment. Yes, traditionally, these solos are sung by what we understand as bass in modern times, however, in the baroque, the male voice was divided only in Bass and Tenor. What non-professionals often ignore is that "baritone" is a more modern term for what used to be just called bass in Händel´s time. So this piece was indeed written for a lower voice, baritones most likely who can sing the coloratura aria more accurately and clearly than basses tend to do.=)
A pleasant way to start my day, with your harmonious singing. Thanks!

Is sad he didn't take the low notes. I think it's the best part of the song. Also a bit fast for my taste.
