  • Stewie: Hwip, hwip, slow.

  • The song is "La cumparsita"

  • What is song name?

    I like song.

  • This is the classic English tango folks -- not my favorite but has its own style...I'm an Argentine freak but this does has its merits and is primarily danced in England, Austria and Germany.

  • The start of the music reminded me of the opening for insidious

  • they lack emotion

  • They're awesome!

    I really love Tango ~

  • one question the figure after 1:44 till 1:51 is not a basic is'nt it because in d and c class ist only allowed to dance 5 quicks?

  • he is so authem!

but i miss a contra check!

  • The greatest ever ballroom dancers.Never to be bettered. Anyone know the tune?

  • LMAO

    kwik! kwik! sloooow

what a ridiculous dance; wonder how they have manged to massacrate argentine tango into this BS

  • @matiseq Not exactly. International Tango has a bit of play with its timing. There are slows that are meant to be long and legato, then there are slows that are meant to have sharp motion, and a hold. The dance has a lot of play (sadly not as much as Argentine) but notice how some quicks are quicker than others, and slows slower than others. Just the fun nature of the dance.

  • nice dance.i like it!

  • thanks it would really help me coz we're going to have our dance competition in every section ... ^_^ thanks again

  • Amazing technique!

  • Das ist absolut perfekter Ballroom Standard Tango! Hier tanzen die neunmaligen Weltmeister! Ich wünschte, ich könnte so tanzen!

  • my favorite part: 1:44 - 1:51. quick quick-to-quick quick quick quick quick quick quick and quick quick and quick quick and slow. Alright, I got it know, thanks dude

  • My favorite part : 1:44 to : 1:52 .... quick quick -to- quick quick quick quick quick quick and quick quick and quick quick and slow.

  • What is the name of the song please??????????

  • @katezzzz I think it's called the quick quick and quick slooooow

  • @diegobaccino

    Hahahah!!!!!!I know now..It's la cumparsita! ;-)

  • Great video to get some ideas to work with... I'm a beginner and it's one of my favourite dances. With a friend at a higher level it's videos like this that help me to keep up and learn new things!

  • I really love tango..

  • Don't understand why lots of people made bad comments on this dance, to me is pretty good, also seriously they are few of the best ballroom dancers in the world, if they are bad at this dance what does it make us.

  • Dance is something that you express your feelings. I am not an expert to criticise theri dancing. But it is too mechanic. So I do not like it. And for me the steps seem very comic. I think this style originates from Europe. It has the signs of walse.

  • @ogikate umm yah lol the basic tango was derived from the argentine tango. Lie any competitive standard ballroom dance, it doesn't really open for too much expression, and BTW it's the BASIC, they didn't go far with it, which they could they r some of the best. They just d=showed beginner-level basic tango :)

  • @Juenther

I agree with Juenther. This is Standard International Ballroom, the type they use for International Competition. Not to be confused with Argintino Tango, which is a social dance and a totally different dance. I have taken classes in both style, and I prefer International Ballroom Tango.

  • TOTAL GARBAGE !!!!!!!!! Learned routine that has nothing to do with the music played. Too much syncopation killed the dance and they look like two monkeys

just going thru the motions. Dancing is...your body swaying to the music...

    GET IT ??????????????

  • @zxcvbnrebus An improvised instructional video is of little use. When you are learning what you need is to watch someone's learned routine. Once you progress you can chop and change to suit the music and the traffic on the dance floor. So this is an excellent instructional demonstration of basic ballroom tango figures and not 'total garbage'.

  • @zxcvbnrebus Also, if they swayed, they wouldn't be able to call it ballroom tango any more. If you want a ballroom dance with sway, the waltz, Viennese waltz, foxtrot or quickstep might be more to your liking. To call this a ballroom tango they need sharp movements and an upright and level frame. If you want a completely unique and improvised dance you could try your local nightclubs.

  • Most of the quicks and slows look exactly the same.

  • 253 DISlike????? CRAZY!!!!!

you don't know this is NOT argentine tango (milonga) the tango the you see in tv!!! this is the STANDAD tango!!!......the music is the same but the dance is different!!!

  • Ooo~ This looks like the tango that I've been learning in class. *____*

  • Beautiful

  • Compare the different types of Tangos like a couple going through their life relationship. When they first start dating, it is like the American Tango--very systematic and polite. As the relationship moves on, it becomes passionate like the Argentine Tango--the two become almost one and they don't want to separate. After 20 years of marriage, it is like the International Tango--they are so sick of seeing one another that every time their eyes meet, they turn away as fast as they can.

  • @jonchowsf that cracked me up! :0)

  • @slam5

Thank you for the comment. I am glad the analogy brought a smile to a few people.

  • The shame of this is that they don't need any music to dance... I prefere argentine tango. And I'm a ballroom dancer... I know what I'm speaking about...

I think the argentine tango has more feeling...

European Tango is like dancen an English Pasodoble!

  • song? please

  • @luky1943

    Percy Faith - Sombras =)

  • Definitely ballroom tango! It has nothing to do with Argentine tango.

  • Some people are just acting stupid. Argentina Tango, Ballroom Tango, Bachatango (Bachata Tango) and Saltanga (Salsa tango). All tangos, just with a little bit difference. It's all about sharing and bringing something new to the dancefloor.

  • does anybody know the name of the figure they dance in second 36-40 ?!

  • @teropampa

exactly! because it is NOT a tango ergentino.

  • @teropampa

As you wish, but it's like "football is something else", someone from UK would say to a person from USA.

  • Just like any other invention, other cultures have adapted and modified Argentine Tango to fit its needs. Argentine Tango should be celebrated, but those loyal to the original form shouldn't waste their energy arguing with people (who enjoy the other forms of Tango) over what to call it.

Could you imagine having this argument regarding religion, telling people that your God is the true God and their God isn't? I think you know that nothing good comes out of those arguments.

  • kwack kwack kwack and slo!

    it issa de ducka dance!

  • Bravissimi

  • Man, tangos are lovely. What's the song?

  • The song is called "Sombras"

  • parecen 2 robots

  • This is one of the best basic ballroom tango demo. It is basic and educational.

To those who can't tell what is ballrom tango, my advice is 'Do not make any comment about this demo'.

To those who keep picking the word 'basic', my advice is 'Go learn few steps of the dance, then you will know this demo is a really basic demo'.

  • não é tango porcaria nenhuma!!!

  • Awesome video. Keep on with that good work!

  • No idea what the most People here Talking about...This is a real Basic Ballroom Tango, presented by the best Ballroom Dancers ever....If i look at the Comments, i think the most users never had a single Ballroom Step in their Lifes, but talking about something of which they have no idea....and Stop comparing Tango Argentine with the Ballroom Version, they were totaly Different....

  • @Juenther

Oh dear, it was never going to be long before the Krauts came stomping over the hill, telling us all to obey orders. To repeat, mein Freund, Youtube is a public media, for which reason the term 'basic' is best left for the Oxford English Dictionary to define, not some esoteric technical dance manual. I'm sure there are endless places to which you can go to engage in arcane microdetail, so may I suggest that you go to one and leave us peasants in peace?

  • @Czerniakowska

No idea what you want, but I will spare myself any further comment

  • @Juenther

A Wise decision and one you would have done well to reach somewhat earlier.

  • @Czerniakowska

Aus was für ner Irrenanstalt hat man dich eigentlich versehentlich rausgelassen? Oder haben die Wärter nur vergessen den Schlüssel von deiner Gummizelle wegzuwerfen?

    ...schönen Tag noch...

  • @Juenther

Er, absolutely. Mein Boomerang wird nicht zuruckkommen (that's about the only Kraut I know).

  • @Juenther

They probably don't know the different between Argentine Tango and International Ballroom Tango. In fact there are also American (Social) Tango and Taiwanese Tango. So there are more than one dance in the world.

  • Yes, ballroom definitely doesn't have anything to do with Tango.

  • Um, tango is a ballroom dance.

  • Tango is from Argentina and Uruguay, this is a deformed version, this ballroom dance has nothing to do with real tango.

  • I appreciate the historic significance of your point of view, but you are missing a bigger point: Once human beings share their ideas with others, they lose ownership over the idea in so far as other human beings will add their own spin or take on it. This is true for all ideas. We should appreciate from where ideas come from, but that should never dictate what happens to them once they are introduced to the world.

  • To gitana50,

Yes tango is from Argentina, then it went over to France, then Europe and America, and all over the world ---- The style is called International Standard Ballroom. It does reflect its original style, and added Ballroom dance techniques. This style shows beautiful elegance and passion. Maybe you don't want to do this way. But that's not how a lot of people feel. By the way, can you do real tango? Show us -- we like to see.

  • This craziness isn't tango. This has been a public service announcement.

  • esto no es tango!!!

  • Great demonstration & timing, very useful as working towards Ballroom Tango medal exam. Excellent to see the footwork, posture & positions by professionals. Thanks P ;-)

  • They did a great job. The only problem (present in most of their videos on youtube) is that the audio and video are out of sync. Otherwise, I find it very educational.

  • this is a great tango, whoever said this is a foxtrot is a retard lol i should know im 3rd in britain

  • This is international style tango.

  • Song is "Sombras (Merveilleux)" from Ultimate Ballroom Album 4

  • 2 assholes, I just threw up in my mouth.

  • WTF?

    no passion!

    they look like robots!

  • yh i totally agree

  • Love this couple. Heard of their name since i start learning ballroom dancing. Pls.Stop comparing Agentine tango to international ballroom dancing. They are totally different style and character.

  • this blows. theres no passion and its all choppy and rigid. i know part of it is the style, but still....any dance is supposed to be fluid and the fact that its latin means you should be able to feel the sexual tension.

    i give it a 3.

  • fyi, in international style ballroom. this is NOT a latin dance. and please, you don't have to profanity to get your points across.

  • Does anybody know the name of the song? It is one of my alltimefavorite Tangos, but i dont know the name

  • this is not Tango, is a mix with Flamenco, the music, ...

  • Someone from Latin America or Argentina is really easy to recognize in comments. No, it is tango, to be more precise: ballroom tango. It is something different as TANGO ARGENTINO, what is the only, you probably know. :)

  • Looks like a number of people on here have a dance background.

Can I get some (detailed) critiques on my dancing?

    YouTube: blong206b

  • perfectisimo!!!bravooo

  • great music!

  • I think the name of the tune is, Quick Quick Slow

  • jjj,tangoaflamencado

  • instead of arguments... why not put the names of the figures/syllabus in this dance? i think that wud be a big help to others who wants to learn this dance... pls help... kindly post down the syllabus/figure names.. thnx...

  • To be completed...

2 walks, link, closed finish, five-step, (? tap), open reverse turn, (? german "kehre"), natural turn, rock turn, closed finish, (? similar to a link but stationary), chase (not cassé!), cassé (now... :P), wisk, ... some advanced figures, some quick reverse turns in between ..., same foot launch (the poise close to the end), (? the stationary link thing again...)

  • wats the name of the song???its beautifull...the intenational tango is so poised yet dramatic and fired...loved it....

  • I like the music but... what the hell is this shit?!

  • Fantastic

  • Wow, just wonderful. Concise Layman DOABLE tango. Well done.

  • I dont mean to be rude or bash anybody but this doesnt look remotely close to tango.

  • What s the music name?

    Please tell me

  • Uff tango music rocks!

  • This is a beautiful example of Intl style Tango, Basic figures.... This is Not Argentine and is is not better or worse.... It is an Excellent example of Basic Intl Tango!!!!

  • Beautiful music.

I dance tango to it too! ^^

  • whats fuck is this?

  • hmm I dance real Tange i.e. Argentine! And this does not even come close to Tango - its Whiplash Jumping....

  • then post a video of you doing it better, fool

  • i would like that international or standard tango video where entitled standard or intrnational tango, or ballroom tango, but not simply tango. this would avoid misunderstandig. and if i do accept that to you it is a marvellous way to perform a dance, let me be of a diametral opposite opinion. my comment is not stupid, it's just my opinion and it's worth as much as yours, whether u like it or not. have a nice day.

  • This is tango...

  • So tango isn't always just slow-slow-quick-quick?

  • no, since it's a quick slow combination... the rythm also varies.. although this is different from real argentine tango...

  • bleah!!! don't really think this can be called tango.

  • Yes it can be called tango!!!!

It is international tango, not tango argentino. It's the same thing as other international dances, like samba or cha cha or rumba. They are not the same as they are danced in brasil or cuba because they originate from that places but they have been modified for ballroom dancing.

Cn you tell me please which salsa is the real one, cuban, portorican, venezuelan, LA style??? There is no right answer! So . please stop writing stupid comments!!

  • Comment removed

  • hey calm down... Ò.ó i agree that this is more like walked-waltz than tango. i also know that when it comes to tango, it is even harder to say where it came from and why.what i mean is that it is not because someone said something u disagree that u have to be unpolite.

man, and the guys say that people here in brazil are wild. O.o

  • wha' fuck is this?that not is tango,is pice shit!

  • es tangoaflamencado,jjjjjjj

  • Can someone tell me the name of the song?

  • Can someone name me the music plz?

  • Very good great music

  • Forgod sake stop arguing about Tango and Argentine. There both different. Ones American Smooth the other is international. Leave them alone.

  • that bad imitation of the beutiful Argentine tango,if six able ones not to dance the Argentine tango by is dificul learn,i advise to them tdance a rock

  • Amazing couple!CONGRATULATIONS

  • This type of standard tango has little to do with real Argentinian Tango. If you want to see Argentinian Tango look for names like

    Chicho and Juana

    Pablo and Dana

    Damian and Nancy

    El pajaro and Belen

Daniel Montaño e Francesca del Buono

    Murat & Michelle Erdemsel

  • Please tell me what s the music name?

  • I've watched some competition videos now. I can see more differences indeed. But not enough for me. I dance salsa, bachata, merengue and bolero. Not competition standard but for myself. And they all have unique basic steps. Ballroom dance doesnt have that. There are different emotions, different tricks, different tempo, different flow. The basic steps, though, are the same in all. But, I do like the waltz and the quikstep. Thank you dacheran and dancetjoen for your help.

  • riskjo, Ballroom dancers are not restricted to the so called "standard" dances. In fact we like any dance. We did chacha steps on bachata music, rumba steps on bolero. I know only the basics of merengue.

But about salsa, can you tell me the difference with mambo? And I still don't know if the first step should be made on count 1 or count 2.

  • There are a lot of steps in the dancing world that are used in different styles. Hip hop and Jazz have a lot of steps borrowed from ballet. BUT, they dont look like ballet. there's a posture, a way, a style of the body.. you can not dance different styles with exactly the same body posture. If the steps are too much alike the body posture should not be, and viceversa. About mambo, you are totally right, so I dont see the need to call the same thing by 2 dif. names.

  • About salsa.. You are talking about salsa on 1 and salsa on 2. And, for me, they are as different as original tango and ballroom tango. But that's another subject.// About this couple, I do believe they are fantastic, even if I dont like the style, when you see something done wonderfully you have to stop and bow.

  • ris: You are a wise guy, keeping on avoiding the critical issue of on one or on two. Go to look at Slavik's 2341 and learn if you can from him how to do the correct Cuban Motion, and then you probably have the answer there.---dancewu(dot)net

  • riskjo, thanks for the info, Got confirmation from elsewhere. I understand that I only know the on2. Happy dancing.

  • I can see that the Tango is more violent than the other dances. I cant see lust between them though. But in tango, foxtrot, waltz and quickstep, the posture is the same, the steps are the same, the arms are in the same position, the distance is the exactly the same. The difference is the tempo. And now that you told me the motive for each dance is that Im more confused. Im just trying to be objective. But I believe I will not find my answers here. Thanks anyway for replying my comment.

  • Mind if I try and help? The basic posture is the same, true, but you can't have anything without building from the floor up. There is a REASON the dances are classified together, after all. When you get into more advanced movements, and particularly the style of music they should be done to and how they should be expressed by the dancers, THAT is where the motive comes into play. Through movement and expression, rather than form. You can dance a tango with the basics, but not a great one.

  • This type of standard tango has little to do with real Argentinian Tango. If you want to see Argentinian Tango look for names like

    Chicho and Juana

    Pablo and Dana

    Damian and Nancy

    El pajaro and Belen

Daniel Montaño e Francesca del Buono

    Murat & Michelle Erdemsel

  • Riskjo, I'll try. But don't be misled by the videos because those are just showing the steps.

Tango is lust, you expect him tearing her gown any moment ;-)

Both Waltz and foxtrot are a couple in love, tenderness, feeling floating like a balloon in the air.

Quickstep is joy, flying like a free bird.

The steps are just the tools to be able to express and feel those emotions.

    This is just my interpretation.

  • Hello, i have watched the hilton's basic tango, waltz, foxtrot and quickstep. Im just wondering... besides the tempo and the music the styles are danced to, which charasteristics, aspects, tricks, etc. make each dance (tango, foxtrot, waltz, quickstep) unique and different? I watched the videos with sound and without it, and it looks like the same. But, what does a judge, for example, looks for in each dance that makes them different with each other?

Note: im not trying to offend anyone.

  • Its very pretty but I must say to you like Argentinean who that is not tango the tango is sensual

  • anyone know the title of this music- i would love to download it! thanks

  • This is a very mechanic way of dancing tango.

    I dont like it.

  • Please teach a title of this music.

  • nunca me gusto este estilo para bailar tango..

    aguante el tango argentino che!

  • anyone knows the title of this song?

  • Take it easy guys, no need to flame!

I too love argentine tango and, personally, dislike this one (as I dislike the "tango nuevo").

I think we all agree that these ones are two dinstinct dances, but I can find no reasons at all to blame each other.

I'm deeply in love with argentinian tango, but,if someone else prefer other ones, why hating them?

Each one has good reasons to prefer one to the other, but it's a matter of personal choice.

Just take it easy, and enjoy dancing.

    The one or the other.

  • ugly...

  • u: What is "ugly..."? your 37 years old Italian face?---dancewu(dot)net

  • No, wha I see here, a very bad interpretation of a Dance wich is intimacy, listening and care.

This interpretation is sterile, mechanical, ridiculous.

  • U:so you prefer Mirko and Alessia or William and Allessandra

  • They have 253,540 viewers, try yours.

  • I checked out also the others.

I definitely do not like these interpretations and this Standard Style.

I think "mine", that is Tango which is usually referred to when people talk about this Latin dance, is a different thing.

It is my opinion, that you are really missing something -and here I am not speaking of steps or posture- something very rewarding and BEAUTIFUL...

If you have time, look out for Tango too. Maybe you can feel some emotion, some freedom, some other thing that you may like.

  • utopiadaniele, in Italy "tango" is what is danced by Mirko/Alessia, Roberto/Morena, Michele/Monica, William/Alessandra, Domenico/Gioia. Don't talk about "rewarding" and "beautiful" in your dance. In your dance people only learn to hate other dances, so I cannot accept your invitation.
