  • think Nick Cave see's Shane for the genius he is dont think he'd mind the madman doing his song...better imho

  • I felt like this when i was 16. 35 now still feel the same.

  • He writes all of his songs directly from his heart!

I love you Shane! Greetings from 16 year old kid in Sweden :)

  • This song makes me want to have son on my own. Such a wonderfull expression.

  • The picture saddens me - such a brilliant songwriter... Sad to see anyone in that shape...

  • I love Shane. Thanks for the music!

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • The time has come to switch off mtv and get back to music that is real.

  • As long as you dont have to look at the picture of Shane, absolutely brilliant!

  • absolutely brilliant. 'Just like your dear old dad'

  • There is a certain indescribable quality about this song and Shane's voice that make it irresistible and then of course the profound reminder of the children in Palestine, Beirut, and so many other trouble spots. After all, Christmas time will always be a time for children and remembering them, wherever they are.

  • i love this song long live shane!!! :D

  • I don't mind admitting, i'm a grown man and i cried like a baby the first time i heard this song....the saddest, bleakest and most heartbreaking lyrics ever written. Proof if proof were needed of the utter and absolute genius of Shane MacGowan.

  • Every time I hear Shane It's like the first time I heard Bob Dylan, I thought someone was puttin me on........I lisiten a little closer and end up thinking THIS GUY IS F'n GREAT! Carry on Shane.

  • I hope you grow up angry, unlike me all weak and sad..........

  • No Fairytale but not bad !

  • absolutely class...Shane is my musical hero, the bloke is a legend

  • The picture totally kicks ass.

Song is great. Dad repeats it all the time :).

  • great picture great song lol

  • LEGEND.................

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • @ mag

i am far away from being a "person-cultist!,if that makes sense in english, but THIS "being"influenced me alot.

i think i´d even pilgrim to the grave he´ll one day(hope not soon)

    visit.

  • @mag

    not on any rec,cd?

only found this precious here either;)

  • Just heard this song for the first time its made the hair stand on the back of my head, its funny and sad a clasic in my ears THANKS SHANE.

  • I agree with saxcoltrane. I really thought the lyric was 'But you have a future and a big world to save'. Can we get some sort of confirmation on this please.. Graet song whatever; i like the bit about the Electricity going dead

  • shane is god,

i fear though he´ll be an angel soon watching us helpless poor cunts from above and take the piss.

  • What album is this off of?

  • haha noone knows how to do a christmas song like shane

  • its not just the hard hitting lyrics and honesty its the fact that no-one else in the world could do the song any justice!!! wish he would write more

  • What a nice tune, melody, lyrics. Performed by one of my favorite artists, the genius, pure, autenthic SHANE McGOWAN ! Thank you for posting!

  • yeah it is a big world to save

  • It sounded to me like in the second verse he said: "But you have a future and a big world to save" rather than the line given, which to be honest makes no sense.

  • met shane a couple of times in my local shop and he's an absolute gent - talkin about gettin the nipple erectors going again - can't wait

  • Always loved this song. Anyone got all the lyrics?

  • lyrics on the right

  • @jayoo15 no, i don´t , but it reminds me of tom waits´ martha- not the lyrics though, but the melody....

  • @jayoo15 If you don't get the lyric you ain't drunk enough

  • "Stumbling i fell down and prayed on my knees"

"I hope you grow up angry just like your dear ole' dad not like me all weak inside"

    Shane MacGowan is incredible

  • i THINK sHANE mC gOWAN IS A LEGEND BECAUSE hE KNOWS HIS MUSIC BUT i MET HIM iN MY LOCAL TOWN dUNGLOE

  • the tune is nicked from Nick Caves 'Lucy'

  • yeah your right, shanes lyrics are better though

  • I agree

  • @peacefrog1916
