  • oh dear, well protoss sentries are probably going to get nerfed quite heavily soon then :( and i cant say without reason cos credit to minigun cos this strat is lethal, but im afraid if u can govern the battlefield this easily for this long force field is just broken, it just is, way too powerful

  • @Stratocasterhead51 FF compensates for unit cost, and I doubt it will get nerfed. Remember, all toss units cost a lot, including sentries, which are 100 gas. 100 gas is 2nd tier, and in order to fully sustain 1 FF for an unlimited time you need 4 sentries. 400 gas. I think that it is fairly balanced considering the amount of units zerg and terran can pump out while the protoss can do much less number-wise, so they compromise for it with unit efficiency.

  • @Stratocasterhead51 before you say something is broken please consider that the other player didn't scout very well and did not make the correct judgement of his enemy thus he couldn't have known this was coming, I bet if he knew the match would of ended differently.

  • This is Spoon's build, not Minigun's.

  • The build mainly worked because I played ignorantly and pretty much didn't scout the entire time. The forge timing that I saw being chronoed etc I assumed +2 blink stalker, and when i saw limited sentries it supported that theory. I lazied out, didnt build an overseer, and paid for it. is this game imbalanced? no. i just played lazy and paid for it T_T

  • The point isn't the positioning or composition or anything - it's the fact that force fields can quite literally win games. Even if he had lings in his base, he would have just walled the ramp and delayed his expand/delayed it long enough to out macro. Yes minigun is a good protoss, but the zerg had what blizzard list has a hard-counter, and a lot of it, and gets beat because of a unit that's ability may as well read "map control".

  • I think the best way for zerg to counter this is to have full vision of ur main and better map vision and control in general. If the zerg had spread his overlords out more, rather than having them all clumped up in his main, he probably would have seen the warp prism and been able to react in time with his lings.

  • @Nickschades 2 sentries can FF the roaches long enough for reinforcements. Forge first FE is very strong on this map, because of the super long distance that those roaches have to run. It's literally from one corner of the map to the other.

  • @Youcansuckme69 the ramp is wide, takes twice the energy to ff so even less time than usual. moreover he only had 1 gateway, so where do the reinforcements come from? if he had a warning, it might be different, but without map control he wouldn't even have any warning. im sure miniguns a much better player than i (only diamond), but im sure if i tried a FFE with 2 sentry macro id get rolled.

  • @Nickschades As the zerg walks his slow roaches across the map you will be making more and more units. When he gets there, you FF and you have even MORE units when he comes into your base. Not only that, but you have cannons which if placed correctly can outrange roaches until the wall is destroyed. If he reinforces his push, his roaches will have to run all the way across the map, while the toss units get to spawn in immediately.

  • @SatoshiAnime because.. like idra said.. protoss players are fucking retarded ;) they don't do shit like this.. i never saw a warpprism in ladder.. maybe in the lategame to harass some bases.. but that doesn't do anything at all, maybe kill some drones.. whatever.. . and I get countered alot with roach/infestor.. they just use storms and feedback to counter it, it's really easy to win as protoss, IF you use the right units ;)

If anything the problem is Map ^^ remember Desert Oasis? ^^ It was almost impossible to get an expansion because zerglings could so easily get everywhere on the map. That didn't make zerg OP it just showed that zerg could exploit the map.

  • @EditZP agreed. i played this map yesterday against a protoss, he spawns at the north, i spawn at the east... now.. my third is in tank-range of his main.. just sayin', and his third is completely safe.. and i got raped by mass stalkers who went trough the rocks... but this is absolutly bullshit, i veto this map from now on ;)

  • @EditZP this cute build works on every map with a choke (big or not) from main to natural, so that means more than half of the current map pool.

  • @Mardolin Your stupidity is infinite. Especially for quoting IdrA. Fact of the matter is that certain Protoss players (White-Ra) have begun using the Warp Prism, just like Zerg has begun to learn to use drops themselves. Fact of the matter, however, is that Force Fields are the only reason Protoss don't get obliterated in 9/10 fights vs a zerg, except for ultra lategame battles and IST composition battles. It also takes a fair amount of skill to use FF effeciently, compared to Zerg's a-move.

  • @BruteChieftainSUX in bw yeh watching ur replay u'll notice staggering mistakes and general missteps that can be fixed that was no fault of the game because the game/maps/units/spellcasters were all fairly balanced. SC2 is not at that stage especially with the current map pool and game design. for example. 1/1/1 has at the least, 3 variations that toss cannot scout early unless they 1 base robo. In which case u would die to the 1/1/1 anyway.

  • @BruteChieftainSUX If u tried a 3 gate or 4 gate build u would straight up die to 2 rax FE or be so far behind economically, T could literally mass ravens and kill you. It makes even less sense when the counter build to an all-in is another all-in and you need to guess whether the all-in is coming. This is even more stupid when zergs have been doing this since forever. The game is not terribly broken, but please don't pretend like every dumb loss is a human mistake.

  • @BruteChieftainSUX i disagree, terran is op and protoss is the easiest to play. Zerg is the hardest to play and only has potential on a master/grandmaster level.

  • @CrankLee zerg can be played very well at lower levels, the player just has to have good expansion management and keep injecting larva like a boss and every whines that terran is op but terrans can be defeated by SMART PLAY, at high levels good scouting, knowning what is comming and getting good counters means you'll win no matter what race you play. although i will admit protoss is the easiest as it requires the least apm

  • @TausMunk Zerg benefit from getting a surround, protoss benefit from fighting at a choke. This is one of the basic ideas behind protoss and zerg. If zerg just a move, its much harder to get a surround. In addition, many protoss and terrans have walls, which zerglings tend to do bad against. This is something most bronze league players already know. As a wise man once said, "I can't tell if you're stupid, or just a troll."

  • @dcoxen Oh shit, an internet meme, you must be smart. But no, really, several zerg units do well if they get to sandwich the Protoss army, for instance, simply because the Force Fields become obsolete then. A Roach/hydra based army also, however, does well if it gets to stand in a nice wide concave against the protoss army in a choke (this rule is practically universal for ranged units), and a infestor roach army also destroys if the enemy units are cramped up in a tight space.
