  • I am a huge metal fan

  • i'm a lord of the rings fan

  • So far I've read Mort and I'm reading The Colour of Magic and I love the series so far.

  • i love him <3

  • Amazing

  • Love him!!

Imagined his voice different though... more English.

  • @lozleader how can you get "more english" than his english accent?

  • I love how we can now refer to him as 'Sir' now.

    :D

By far one of the writers story makers of our time. Love his work.

  • You sir are a genius.

  • Can't wait for another Moist Von Lipvig book!

  • @johnpaulmccain - Couldn't put it better myself :D

  • I'm only 15 books in to the Discworld series and I'm loving the ride, his style of writing is turning into a huge influence on the way I try to write myself, of course I can only dream of ever having a smidgen of the talent that Terry has with the written word.

  • i hope he makes more i just seen "Going Postal" epic!

  • love his books big fan of Mort,Jingo,The Nation awesome books

  • Sir Terry is just brilliant, best I've ever read

  • I love Sir Terry Pratchett's books. All of them. I have read, and own every single book he has written.

  • the best author. i love his books!

  • Terry Pratchett is the best at putting sarcasim into the written word.

  • Oh I love his accent :D

  • Terry Pratchett is my favorite person in the whole world.

  • I watch these videos partly because he's an incredible man but also (this may sound a bit weird) i love the sound of his voice. Love him so much.

  • Long live Terry Pratchett, lord of the laughter!

  • i love terry's sence of humor!

  • I just watched Hogfather and I must know more!! This is so brilliant. It's right up the alley of Douglas Adams. Terry Pratchett is a genious!!!!

  • I''ve just started the series all over again last week, and I'm at the 3rd book allready...

    Can't stop reading...

    So much imagination...

  • You know I read 3 or 4 books before I realized they were from the same universe. In primary school I read The Last Hero, and watched Wyrd Sisters on tv. In the first year of high school I read The Science of Discworld and Guards! Guards! Only after I read The Art of Discworld did I connect them all. Terry, I'm sorry I'm so stupid! I'm an AVID fan now so it's not too bad I suppose.

  • @Kumiyanagi

The joy of plot! Oh, Terry, you're classic!

  • His books are the most stolen books in Uk. That says everything!

  • I've just finished my first Discworld book, "Men at Arms" and I think it's a great book. Terry Pratchett is an amazing author. I think the best part of the Discworld series are the characters because you can related to them and they're lovable.

  • Best. Book series. Evar.

  • One of my fav lines from one of his books

"Shit by the fire and have shum shoop"

    lol.

I REALLY wish he'd make 3D animated versions of his books, i think they'd be extremely popular but i guess funding would be a big issue.

Kinda like Shrek animation it'd be so cool to see Rincewind and Twoflower in 3D getting up to their funny antics :)

  • Reaperman is my fav! Especially the character of Death.

  • Nanny Ogg's cookbook ... use the loo before reading... do NOT read in the library, I nearly got thrown out...

  • i love all the watch books, with vimes and the gang, but light fantastic and c of magic were brilliant too! reaper man i have read 3 times nw and is one of my favourite! Pratchett is the best!

  • i love hogfather

  • I just discovered Discworld. I think it looks cool so I'm going to go......BUY A BOOK!?!?!? Oh no whats happening to me?

  • Yes, it became one of the a very few books that I have read thoroughly and finished (voluntarily)

  • Hard to pick a favorite. After reading the series over twice; the third time around I have started to read them by characters. Reading all the Guards books atm ( Guards Guards, Men at Arms, Feet of clay Etc) Flows quite nicely that way and changes it up a bit. It really hasn't lost any of its charm even the third time through. Bear in mind these are the audio book versions read by Nigel Planer and Stephen Briggs; they do an AMAZING job.

  • my first was Reaper Man,,, and still remains my favourite,,,,

Top 3: ReaperMan,,Wintersmith,, and The Wee Free Men.

  • WOO-HOO!!! Go Terry. And not a single duff novel yet. You'd think out of thirty-odd books at least one would be a bit lame, but no, all fantastic!

  • His daughter writes videogame scripts... she did Overlord 1 and 2.

  • Also, if I'm not mistaken, Mirror's Edge.

  • sometimes i am alomost in tears thinking ` why didn`t terry pratchett`s discworld novels be made into a series of movies instead of j k rowlings harry bloody potter `

  • Watch The Colour of Magic, it's pretty good. :)

  • i did, i loved it but for me the best has got to be hogfather.

  • Hear hear! I agree wholeheartedly.

  • I'm a Harry Potter fan... and I agree. I've never seen anything like Pratchett's overwhelming imagination.

  • Then you need to get out more. But I agree. He is an amazing aurthor.

  • Er, never seen anything like his imagination in _writing_? You know, Pratchett's field of work?

Thought people could fill in the blanks, apparently not.

  • @demosj Pratchett is on a completely different level to JK...

  • @jordanbarker676 As long as it improves their work, a little rivalry can go a long way.

  • erm y not both?

  • Yeah but the movies kinda ruined those books - probably for the best this way.

  • @thanqualhighseer Probably because they're too many of them??? Or because "Discworld" hasn't cemented in the American market yet...

  • Holy crapmonkies. I see where he got his idea for Rincewind - he looks and sounds like Rincewind would to me. :P

  • oh and btw... has anyone else noticed the song lyrics thing? my favourite was in Making Money. Terry managed to smuggle in the title of Tenpole Tudor's Swords of a Thousand Men. "sword of a thousand men's blood" lol. think it started with Soul Music. i'd like to know if anyone noticed it before then.

  • He also throws in film references, references to other books, folklore, UK TV programmes and so on.

  • true but DW was a parody of the fantasy genre right from the beginning. the mythology-made-real thing was always there too. but i think finding ways to work song lyrics into the dialogue is a little different. was it always there? i'm not sure. i thought it started after soul music, which was packed with references... obviously.. my favourite was "the grateful death" :) and does the song title/lyric happen more than once in any book? it's almost worth rereading them just to find out.

  • Yeah I see what you mean. I think the earlier references were more to other books in the genre, (the first couple of characters in colour of magic are a parody) , but given his love of punning I'd be surprised if other media refrences didn't turn up right from the start. I wonder if l-space has the answer?

  • i read my 1st DW book a few years ago after seeing it rated no.1 in a list of best fantasy of all time. at first i wondered what all the fuss was about... and ended up reading all the books back to back. from the other comments this is obviously not unusual. i don't think any other series could keep me interested so long. incredible achievement.

  • i've just started the series a couple of months ago and am now up to going postal. (i'm reading in order)

my favourite character is nobby nobbs of the watch.

  • I've started reading the series over again from the start and am now currently on Sourcery, one of my favorites. Man what a great series and a great author.

  • I'm on my second discworld book now, was always turned off by the covers. Making Money at first glance looked like some kind of financial self help guide to me lol. I just finished Thud and am now reading Nightwatch and I have to say I LOVE this series, particularily the ones about commander Vimes and the Watch. Vetinari is my new all time favourite character.

  • Terry patchett plays the elder scrolls IV oblivion :D

if only there was a way to combine my favorite game and my favorite books, man, a bethesda discworld game would be absolutely fantastic

  • @Highstar25

bethesda discworld I have though the same thing a huge real time ( ish ) discworld game would be amazzzziiinn

  • @tsactuo123 Search for the Discworld MUD. If it's still up. its text-based though

  • I'd wished he'd worn his hat. It's a cool hat :(

  • i've read Terry Pratchett's Hogfather. and OMG!, it's fantastic and funny. espesily when bad language is used in the dialoge. i don't read very often, so give me a one of hes books and i promise u, i fliping read it!

  • any examples?

  • Bret Easton Ellis. Diary of a Drug Fiend by Aleister Crowley. Henry Rollins. Henry Miller. Aldous Huxley. Jean Paul Sartre.

  • Why don't you just let us have your ways and read Pratchett and you read Sartre and stop bothering us. That'd be really sweet of you :)

  • Pity me. I think Terry Pratchett is one of the grear thinkers inliterature. His views on how the world (not only Discworld) make him equal to other 'fiction' writers like Aldous Huxley.

    Have you even read Discworld?

  • woop woop !!

    terry pratchet rocks !!!

  • Terry Pratchett is awesome.

  • Terry Pratchett is the best writer in the world!!

  • one of the greatest writers of the modern era

  • its gona be a sad day when he passes away....

  • yeap, but terry pratchet will never die though, his books will keep him alive forever.

  • He might not be in so much danger from Alzheimer's atm, he's undergoing treatment that has halted the disease, possibly improving his condition. :)

  • The man is a God

  • The Discworlds books are my all my favourites :)

    Read it and find out!
