  • Did we forget to say " Clive is hot"

  • This guy is from another planet. His mind, the way he expresses psychology and emotion into words is everything beyond fantasy and horror literature. People like this make the world a better place for provoking imagination and enriching the way we interpret life around us. He's literally so ahead of his time that his influence will still be felt five-hundred years from now. Clive Barker is more than just a horror legend, but a God among men.

  • I'd love to have my arms and legs cut of by this men with a rusty saw and grind it to minced meat and feed it to me....am I a dark dreamer or just a reborn soul ?

  • I'm sorry but the host...! "...Bueler? Bueler? Bueler?" I know it's not the same guy but good god, man! Some vocal expression would not go amiss!

  • Sex gets in the way of art? Then he and Jodorowsky have something in common lol

  • looks a bit like an older chris cornell from a distance

  • Wow...!

  • Im in love!!

  • Make one more! The final one!

  • that man is sexy.

  • I met Clive Barker before in Berkeley during book signing. A great man with unique ideas who gets it done. Love Hellraiser!

  • Yeah Clive, u are as good as Faulkner and Hemingway and your movies are masterpieces, i dont know how u dont have an oscar.

    get real.

  • Hey not trying to steal the spotlight and I am certainly not trying to compare myself to Cliver barker. But I am letting everyone know that I am a first time published author. My book Rasciss tells the story of Hollowawk a man who literally defied death and now must face the wrath of petty gods. Come onto my channel and check out the promo video I made for Rasciss. Leave a comment and if you like what you see than please pick yourself up a copy and let me know what you thought about it.

  • if clive barker worked with guillermo del toro to remake hellraiser or adapt abarat to film, i would SHIT.

  • Clive Barker reminds me of a modern day Clark Ashton Smith.

  • This man is a true original, an artist in the fullest and broadest sense of the word, his imagination is expansive, deep and prolific without equal, his dreamscapes and hellscapes plumb the hights and depths of the human and inhuman heart and soul, he is a genius and stands above most other genius people, he is a great visionary whos work will last for all time, he changes and tranforms lives, including mine...

  • Alot of people hate on Midnight Meat Train. I thought it was fucking awesome.

  • @wesclev83 Agreed, I really enjoyed Midnight Meat Train movie and the short story!

  • I love what he says at 3:56. He's talking about the cathartic hurl and then the assigning. That's why you get some artist who do many different things.

  • This guy is truly the ultimate doer. There are dreamers and wishers, then there are doers like this guy. A true renaissance man.

  • I don't think God is guiding him!

  • Wtf is speaking, a robot?

  • @Mistermax30 I think he's trying to sound distant like he doesn't have emotion you would hear in a human voice

  • I am a dark dreamer...WTF!!

  • what happened to his voice

  • @drewcox010101 i maaaaaaay be wrong but i think he had throat cancer

  • @TheAreyon

    throat polyps removed from surgery.

  • he sure has outlasted his critics who said he'd burn out in 5 years. a lot they knew.

  • Are you a dark dreamer? hahahaha this guy he so fucking cheesy.

  • Haha, the narration is terrible. Such a monotone guy for an awesomely awesome subject matter.

  • He's like the Shakespeare of dark fiction. truly endless imagination that bloke has.

  • C'mon, Clive!! Where's THE SCARLET GOSPELS!?!

  • I don't expect him to ever finish any work ever again. I don't know if it's the Abarat experience or poor health that ruined him, but it's damn ridiculous when he has to stall his publishers by putting out books like Coldheart Canyon and Mister B. Gone while the fans want The Third Art book and Scarlet Gospels.

  • @sickfixxreturns I agree to an extent. But lately he has heavily hinted at giving up the film-making business. He says it takes up too much of his time only to get fucked over again and again.

  • @sickfixxreturns I agree mostly, but "Coldheart Canyon" was pretty damn good anyway!!

  • The most imaginative man alive!

  • I have worked with people he knew as an actor/playwright years ago. It sounds like he has enjoyed his cigars. If I was gay I would let him do me.

  • I want this man to live forever

  • Me and Clive have the same birthday!

  • Clive is a very intelligent man and I can relate to everything he said. He's like a god to me.

  • At the end of his life, the deadliest gunfighter of the Old West is given a choice: Hell or redemption. He chooses redemption and God's Archangel transports him to modern day Los Angeles to serve bloody, frontier justice on the worst dregs of society.

  • He's such a fantastic mind. It's like you fall into his world and can take an endless number of paths in his volcanic imagine. It just makes me feel so alive.

  • I hope he is like Clint Eastwood and will still be directing in 30 years time.

  • my favorite writer and director , thnx :P

  • I need to read more of Clive Barker's book and try to see some of his paintings up close and personal.

This guys is everything I want to be and seeing that it's humanly possible is a huge inspiration.

  • Interesting person. For someone who delves in the darker side of life he's said to be a very nice man.

  • Thanks for this. Clive Barker is a constant inspiration for me. I went to the preview screening of Nightbreed at the NFT in London. He's a very kind and funny man.

  • Using heavy pens and books maybe? :P

  • hes pretty muscly, lol, for a guy who writes all day

  • @loveupskirts it's interesting how he went from a nice gentle geeky office-clerk appearance in his late 30s to this dangerous muscular badboy in his late 40s. And now he's 58 he looks even scarier.

  • He has a really strange accent. Mix of British and American

  • Must be easy to get chicks there.

  • Just finished sacrament, one or two left to go and then i'll need more.

  • Clive Barker is GREAT~!!!

  • i didnt know clive barker is gay

  • eh,whatever. Doesn't affect my life any.

  • clive barker might be kinda screwed up in the head but i love his work

  • Thanks for posting. It's great to hear from a writer in a personable interview. Thief of Always has got to be my favorite one.

  • narrated by stephen hawking... his voice was so dull....

  • There's nothing that gets between me and the art -except sex !!!!!!!!!

If he weren't gay, he would be just the perfect fit of a woman like me!

He's a real genius with an amazing imagination!!!

  • I don't believe that...

  • Can you please put up the dark dreamers one with richard laymon, thanks.

  • Richard Laymon! That's a good idea!

  • he is a hardworker, big respect to the man for that.

  • really wish he would finish the great and secret show series some year but he might not

  • Is he directing a remake of Hellraiser?

  • There is a remake of Hellraiser in the works, though Clive isn't directing it. From what I understand, he is the principal writer and producer of the piece and has a singificant amount of creative input. Fingers crossed for a decent re-working (rare as they are).

  • This was 8 years ago; he is now 56. I'm wondering how much longer he's gonna stick with it!!

  • He almost looks like an older version of Chris Martin! hehe

  • Im sure there were one of these with richard laymon, could you please put it up?

    Thanks.

  • he seems to be a nice guy

  • Hes got some guns on him there. Damn how does he have time to work those pythons?

  • This is a fantastic post. Thank you.

  • His voice has improved.

  • I concur, but I think his "Weaveworld" is one of the most randomly epic mind f@ck

and can't believe noone will make the movie?! No "Silver Surfer" or Dark Towers, either. Anywhizzy...

  • i read Books of Blood when i was 11. now 21, in retrospect, i think i scared the shit out of alot of my teachers and classmates with my art work and English Lit classes lol (i drew bits from Pigs Blood Blues where the Sow eats the main protagonists feet and the hands from body politic) allways an inspiration, Clive is truly a legend but the words Legend, Awesome, Increadible dont seem sufficient to sum him up or do justice. They'll have to do for now, fucking awesome! lol cheers for posting.

  • Barker changed my life at 17--- he showed me that I could write about any insane idea I wished. Those books of blood anthologies are goldmines of imagination.

  • @sisyphusorianus9787 Amen brother

  • @sisyphusorianus9787 Well, the Books of Blood are all written by Barker, thus they're short story collections, not anthologies (according to today's industry definitions). But I agree with everything else :)
