Ok I like what you did here and it looks good from the above angle but from head on or the side view it looks kinda cheesy. I have done this effect before and I know how difficult it is to get right. My advice is to take the book that you took the instructions from and still follow those except cut out the part after you cover the knee in cotton and gelatin. Then just play around with it and get a feel for how you want it to turn out.
