I'm not going to teach it to be played strictly Green Day's way, since other people can put together their own fashion in playing it. If I added palm muting, it takes away imagination from it. If they want to palm mute, they can.

@Thehappyman901 The chords in the verses are the same for both rythym and lead guitar...so either part you play the chord structure is the same. The chords in the verse are G5, Csus2, D5 repeated. Then the hook before the chorus where it starts "So make the best..." is Em, D5, Csus2, and G5. The chorus (the easiest part) is Em, G5, Em, G5, Em, D5, G5. the reason you couldn't figure out the strumming pattern is because it's all downstrums, which is traditional in playing punk.....there is also a lot of palm muting in punk but not necessarily in this song. it's a little harder to do all downstrums on an acoustic since you don't have the volume of an electric, but your pattern works fine. thanks for teaching!

hey that break part in the song where theres like 4 chords. i think u played it wrong cuz i play it on the 5 string 6 fret. then 6 string 6 fret, 6 string 8 fret then back to 6 string 6 fret. i think thats right. i subscribed!

The break where he doesn't sing can be changed around...in the book I have it stays the same, but live and stuff like that as long as it's in the same key you can play any power chords your heart desires. :D

In the verses it's E5, move down a string to...B5 I believe, then C#5, move down a string to G#5, then up a fret to A5, then back to B5, then repeat. Chorus is A5, B5, E5 twice, then A5, B5, C#5 and back to E. The part after the first chorus is just the first four chords of the verse double timed. The "solo" is a variation of all those chords, and the strumming is all eighth notes, any more questions feel free to ask! Thanks for the view.
