There was a Mark VI prototype during the events of the Fall of Reach.

1st: The UNFC demands "A Spartan never dies, they just goes MIA (missing in action)".

2nd: The Master Chief, Spartan John 117, never died... he is in a cryo chamber. Cortana was told to wake him if she needs him at the end of Halo 3..... Halo 4 starts with the Chief being pulled out of cryo sleep and Cortana shouting "Chief, wake up!... I need you!!!"

Halo 4 will be out in September to November 2012.... I can't wait!!!

@ShadowJubJub have you read the Halo series?.. Noble 6 does die at the end of Reach (based on the book "the fall of Reach"). The Noble team all die in Reach, they give their lives so that the Chief, Dr Halsey and the Package (the Cortana AI) can escape the plannet Reach before it is completely glassed by the Cov forces. The level "Lone Wolf" is where 6 dies (and you see it) after being out numbered by the Elites in his "Noble" last stand.

The books are great, you'll love them. :)
