@koto2291x1x9x Are you serious? Ra Ra Riot and Vampire Weekend don't sound much alike at all. #typicalhipsterresponse. But seriously, they really don't sound much alike. Vampire Weekend doesn't use much (if at all) of the cello or the violin and is much more guitar based than Ra Ra Riot. The main similarity which causes people to jump to this conclusion is that both lead singers sing falsetto.

I saw them in NOLA on May 2 with Death Cab, they were good, too bad the PA sounded like shit. Whoever was running sound should be shot in the face. It sounded like ass, Luckily they kinda fixed it for Death Cab. WAAAYYYY to much BASS. They mus have thought they were doing a rap show.

well, actually, i can see SOME vampire weekend in this, but only a few parts from the songs m79 and apunk, but that's it really. some of the cello brings back memories of m79, and then some of the repeated high hat kicking of apunk. so, i take back my previous statement. but ra ra riot leans more towards arcade fire's sound.

i think they do sound a lot like arcade fire, but there is nothing with vampire weekend. VW does a pretty good job at recapturing the 80s new wave/surf rock sound, but it really doesn't sound anything like ra ra riot. nevertheless, i think all three bands are fantastic.
