  • Dangerous for ligaments and articulations to practise this like that.

Stretching need long time to relax muscles and really stretch oneself

This guy is not a professional of martial arts !

  • @vasylin lol he'd kick your ass though

  • @vasylin do you know him personally do you? no I thought not you fucking mug

  • @vasylin they probably warmed up before this

  • 2, 2, 3 4 5 LOL xD

  • @kevinlau69 yea, thats how you count when your doing the same exercise the second time... you would know that if you exercised instead of trolling ....

  • after this exercise u can blow yourself

  • oh I see when you kick you'll have balance and you can be flexible with your kick

  • If it's not a parody than you're destroying and degrading this martial art and all that work behind. By the way it can cause serious injury.

  • @algernom so i should not try to do this right?

  • johnny dosnt have very good ballance

  • @shadowstikeman johnny tired of these mofos...

  • @shadowstikeman he shows that you wont learn this at least for two years :D

  • @shadowstikeman I love johnny. lol

  • love the back-kick

  • AS BRUCE LEE once said, every muscle has counter-muscle. When you produce such pushing 1-2-3-4 movements when stretching on the limit, the counter muscle subconsciously receives signals to work AGAINST IT to prevent injury! This seriously damages muscle and it is VERY inefficient stretch.

To understand what I protective mechanism Im talking about do a unusually far and sudden step forward. You will feel muscles engaging.

The proper way is to RELAX and go deep a bit and relax again and again.

  • haha the back kick looks funny

  • this teacher and student crack me up 4 real, like where's the director on set????

  • Retared :(

  • at the beginning when he says "Now" IT freaks me out

  • that kid sucks

  • shut up u crackers , u guys no nothing these ppl are doing what right ,, wat helps them

  • dats d point of kung fu...injuries make ur body muscles strong...lol

  • These stretches are completely whrong... don't do it!

  • lol

  • loser xD

  • Moronic.. He's a drop out from kung-fu. SoB

  • This stretching is very good as I know off people who have done this for 70 plus years and have had no issues with joints..........

A couple of things need adjustments, these are:

    1) The foot on the floor; point the toe forward towards the wall, to give real increased stretching and strength of the legs.

    2) Keep the back straight when bending in towards the elevated leg.

  • kid can kick all you asses

  • Good prove of spelling too!!!:)

  • this can damage your joints

  • ouch

  • These are not Shaolin monks....

  • Yao Ming's children

  • easier said then done dammnit

  • Raydred, Your Wrong Bounching can hurt you as much as holding. same rules .. warm up or do this after training.

  • haha 0:20 kid goes to do the next one but the guy carries on talking so hes like 'oh shit' and tries to recover and make it seem like he was just scratching his head. lol.

  • @tobymarp hahahahaha

  • Um... that is totally not a side kick stretch. He did turn the hips away so the lifted leg was externally rotated a bit, but only about 45 degrees, not the 90 you would want with a full side kick.

  • leave the kid alone man, least he out there doin it not chattin shit , hidin behind a computer..!!

  • how do u get rid of the text?

  • @elgranviaje push cc button

  • u`r both leg`s wern`t straight dumbass.....ahhahahaahha

  • static stretching like this is VERY effective,i do Shotokan Karate and i am alomost double my previous flexibility, most guys in there has this guys flexibility...so yes,id say this is very good to use.

  • Fuck why wasnt my mum + dad chineese :(!

  • wtfk this isnt a shaoling kung fu master. he doesnt noe what his doing. bouncing your stretches actually stresses the muscles and can cause them to snap.

  • this guy does not practise these stretches very much. in demo he wobbles when on one foot, nearly misses his foot in right side stretch and couldnt touch his foot with hand in left side stretch.

  • with the first strech i learnd that with the foot on the ground u should let u thoos face the wall.

  • whit the first strech i learnd that u shoud face the thoos to the wall.

    .

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOW let me show you some streching exercises against the wall hahahahahhaahhahahahaha

  • You can't bend your knees,

  • Very Hard

  • This upgrade my exercises!!!!

  • I'm always doing that ^_^

it's absolutely true that the guy on the right doesn't know some kung fu...

    well...me too...xD I know a 'lil

  • Fake.

  • @kosamk1 whats fake ? :S

  • @franck932 wana know whats fake to him? his mom ...

  • @raydredX You are talking about the 'normal stretching.' This monk may not be a true shaolin monk so I am not saying this monk is right, but the monks in the Shaolin Temple do all kinds of craziest practices everyday. For examples, 4 monks hold the entire body of a monk and use his head to knock a heavy sandbag or the solid ground for two hours a day.

  • faux moine

  • 10 15 o25 or more :D

  • shaolin are ancient methods thats why they bounce. modern science has proven that bouncing is harmful. although both methods produce the same outcome. do not bounce

  • hahahaha he counts funny, you raff you roose

  • You seem to be a lot more flexible on one side

  • ya me too...not good for muscles...hold for about 9 secs and stop

  • yah, me too

  • yeah i totally agree with raydredX

  • I actually advice to not do this, it injuries your body. It's ballistic streching, instead of doing the 1 2 3 4 5 thing just hold it and go a bit further and a bit further, etc. Don't bounce, just hold it there and go further and further.

  • @raydredX After that, they hit each other's head with their bare hands for another two hours. They do all that for making their head hard like steel. And that's only one system of Kung Fu that they are training called IRON HEAD KUNG. So, everyone in the modern world would think that's insane. But that's how they train their entire body to become weaons.

  • @MrHueyhuey I don't think that's insane. That technique helps strengthening the skull (though if the one who uses it doesn't know his body, he may damage his brain).

The bounce technique is not insane either. At a very short term it does work, but at a longer term it does the opposite.

  • @raydredX

i'm sorry but this sounds so dirty... Just hold it and go a bit further and a bit further. don't bounce just hold it there and go further and further... Do you see what i mean? Maybe im just a perv but thats the first thing that came to my mind...

  • @raydredX he looks fit as a fiddle from it

  • actaully been proven that billastic stretching is a btter way that static wen training for martial arts !!!! if done properly it will never tear or injure a muscle unless u r a shit truck !!!

  • @damesy26 if this is the truth, your comment should have more thumbs up

  • @damesy26 i meant this in a good way(just reread it under a different vibe and it can be easily misunderstood lol)

  • @raydredX so the disciple is wiser than his teacher at this?

  • @terra382 The disciple is also try to bounce. Fortunely for him he doesn't bounce as much. He's probably not wiser than his teacher(but he may be, I have no idea); but the thing is his not harming himself as much as his teacher, though he's still not doing it right.

  • @raydredX yes, if your a fatass who rarely moves or does any activity then you shouldn't do this, otherwise try it.

  • @raydredX but since this guy managed to be like this can you please explain why this is dangerous and his case... i am asking with all my humility because i want to try this out.

  • @ac98521 I'm not an expert. There are people who are much better qualified to answer this to you. I think the reason may be this. When a joint is streched it won't force you back immediately because of dynamic flexibility. But holding it past the static flexibility limit (static flexibility is the used when you slowly reach, dynamic is used when kicking up) as they try to do puts a lot of stress on the tendons, it gives them no time to addapt. And it damages the tendons tissue.

  • @raydredX So you've gotta slowly strech the tendons. Or as fast as yours tendons can addapt. Also these streches can even cause you to loose flexibility.Anyway I think these guys are "fine" because luckily their lunges are not that brute.

  • @raydredX Also "possible possiblities" are that their body train helps them diminishing the damage of this type of strech, two very remotes possibilities are that doing this since a kid gets you used to it(which i doubt), and that since people in asian martial arts populations have done this for centuries, and they have either got resistant to it or were previously resistant(which I doubt because I think shaolin munks can't even have kids).

  • @raydredX Anyway there was a time I was using this myself. But fortunely it was only for like a week. And if you try to do it seems to help. You get further and further really fast. But when you go practice. The effect is lost, your joints feel weak. And if I conitnued to do it I bet my joints would be fucked up.

Anyway I'M NOT AN EXPERT! Ask someone smarter and more informed for a decent answer. XP

  • Yeah,I train kung fu and we never bounce like you say.. We just go easily till our body can go,its forbiden to bounce..

  • @raydredX you shouldnt do this before youre muscles are warm

    first do a warming- up

  • @emofaraway Why are you telling me that? O:

  • @raydredX Bouncing while your already warmed up is completely fine.

  • @raydredX im pretty sure its worked very well for them.

  • @EntroJERKtv Thing that works=/=Thing that may work extremely better

  • @raydredX Actually bouncing is good before doing activity. It tells your muscles your about to push them to limits and helps blood rush there. What your talking about is stretching to become more flexible. Example: You hold it and push yourself further and further to tear down muscles and rebuild them more flexible. Why would you tear your muscles before exercise or lifting weights? For the the training a shaolin would do this would be better unless he's done with his exercise.

  • @goatnuts8288 what you describe is called a ballistic stretch, and is very harmful, yet quite common. These stretches shown are not of shaolin origin at all. The most proficient way to stretch is to push down with the leg in a continuous pressure while reaching with hands but not pulsing. For example you put your leg on a fence, touch the toes and try to push you leg down into the fence. Very effective and not harmful.

  • @raydredX very true.

  • @raydredX true

  • @raydredX

If you not careful any type of exercise can injure you. This type of stretching is the best type for martial arts, since you will be kicking for alot of force, and you want your muscles to be able to handle;e that. For the average joe who just wants to cooldown/warm up or do yoga, then they should do slow stretching. If you want to be able to do high kicks without hurting yourself, doing slow stretches actually temporally weakens your muscle and is bad for martial arts.

  • @raydredX ... agreed, most martial arts advise this, however this guy i obviously a little advanced and doesnt really touch on "beginner" training, therfore though these stretches DO work, they are Not advised for beginners... static and passive stretching is far better until your body can start responding to more ballistic type stretching, but quite impressive nonetheless!

  • @MrTeejaysingh I have no idea but shaolin's early body condition may make this stretch fine, although for begginers ballistic streching isn't advised just as you said.

  • @raydredX ill just stick to what the person who actually knows kung fu says

  • @SanchezzzzHD You're free to do whatever you want.

  • @raydredX right this takes time as seen here too much:)

  • @raydredX Ballistic and ACTIVE isolation stretching, is healthy for those in competitive sports. I have been a fitness instructor since 2000. Does your opinion have any credentials behind it (no sarcasm)?

Muscles are like rubber bands. Static stretching for flexibility is good. Ballistic stretching for keeping muscle tension is good. KICKING IS A BALLISTIC MOVEMENT, and training ballistic-ly is part of Kung fu.

These are SHAOLIN monks and you can trust a 1000+ of experience. This is not HS.

  • @iwantpoker You probably know more than me, but I've also read a lot a lot from people with different perspectives.

I'm no expert I'm using the information I collected and accepted, I may be wrong obviously. There's no credentials behind it.

Yep kicking is pretty ballistic. At least it seems so.

Europeans have 1500 of experience in knowing the earth is the center of the universe.

What is HS? I googled it, do you mean high school? I don't really get you.

As always. I may be wrong! ;)

  • @raydredX HS = High school. Touche about the flat world and earth being the center of the world. Active Isolation stretching is the modern take on ballistic stretching. There's still a place for it in the world. It's just not the end-all be-all.

I agree that this type of stretching is not for John or Jane Doe, but it has its place in competitive sports.

And no one really gets me. I'm a professional poker guy who also teaches yoga for a living. I fit in a strange box.

  • @iwantpoker I don't really get what you mean with "no one gets me"(ironic? yes XD). You could be referring to HS but...

Anyway, even though I bet it's harmful for common people, I wonder if it's fine for active, healthy, well physically developed people. Have you any credentials behind your argument? (I'd just like to read what they have to say. I don't think I'll ever use ballistic streching out of apprehension but who knows)

  • @raydredX I'm having trouble figuring out how to reply and include a link. So I think I will have to send you a private message. But for the benefit of everyone else -> I am going to include this link to an AI stretching vid. AI = Active Isolated Stretching. "This method of stretching is also known to work with the body's natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia." - this was cut and pasted.

  • @iwantpoker Just googled it, thanks.

  • @iwantpoker You mean completely different thing. Muscle can either relax or it can contract. Those are opposite directions whose maximum points define the flexibility of a fibre.

Relaxing equals stretch, but contraction is opposite.

If you force 1-2-3-4 on relaxed muscle it will immediately provoke preventive anti-rupture neuromuscular mechanism - preventing the stretch itself.

But, if your muscles ALREADY have and you move within that flexibility, doing 1-2-3 within will improve "elasticity".

  • @lin545 Do you mean the golgi tendon reflex? Where is your information coming from? I don't really understand what you are trying to describe. The body is an amazing piece of equipment, and I agree with you - there are fail safes to prevent injury.

Have you ever taken a yoga class? Yoga is all about contracting muscles and increasing flexibility. In order to deepen the stretch in the hamstrings you contract the quads. You do not have to be relaxed in order to stretch.

  • @iwantpoker No, friend, I was talking about protective subconscious reflex.

You can test this as follows:

    - stand on any type of polished floor (place a chair at the side for protection however),

    - place a small carpet in front of you and place your foot on it,

    - free the mind and start observing without thinking,

    - relax and go immediately in frontal stretch, not slow, but falling down

you will feet the muscles activate to prevent tear injury due to overstretch

  • @iwantpoker (2) The muscles and nerves remember their state & capabilities. If you can perform a split without hassle(which means you are already stretched) you can and should train exactly such "falls", or miniature forms that monk performs in the video to remove "the muscle memory". But such exercise has no relation to stretch, but is form of muscle cond-ning. If you try to "stretch" this way forcing or breaking the limit by breaking this reflex you will >unconditionally< damage the muscle.

  • @iwantpoker I have trained nearly 10 years in days of soviet karate, yoga was very, very extensively used there as well as I practiced yoga myself(although I'm not a doctor, though my brother is) and I hereby share my practical experiences, observations as well as own research. The most efficient way I found to stretch is passive, relaxing one. You can add weight if you can force relaxation (this mechanism activates even by passive overload) but only to limited degree.

  • Ive got it! Its all in the shoes! thats how they do it! (yeah right)

  • shut up bitch!

  • how the fuck can a shaolin monk sell out?

they do this stuff all the time....

there just trying to teach others to be as good as they are.

  • thats disrespectful man

  • NOW!!! ;^)

  • yeah, no shitty ads!

  • THe exercises look effective, but the guys look a tad weak.

  • kyokushin is great 2 kung fu...

  • Enough with the shitty ads!

  • ai meu deus ...

    funch steech

    =P

  • wel tats y its called advanced which is meant to be after basic which already register ur stretch

  • 这家伙哪山的? 跑国外招摇撞骗去了!!

  • Ridiculous!!!!!!

  • Ridiculous indeed.

Doing some calisthenics before stretching isn't bad either (kata/taolu/form practice combined with stances, like the horse stance). Without any muscle in one's legs, it becomes pointless to stretch, unless one is a hermit yogi.

  • that bouncing looks hurt ful

  • That's gotta be the worst stretching advice I've heard. For one thing, he's giving no time for the muscles to register a stretch. Secondly, and most importantly, ballistic stretching is dangerous! You can seriously injure yourself from bouncing in a stretch. Avoid ballistic stretches!!

  • Yes. Expert Village videos end up being really bad...

I prefer to do only static stretches not too extended, before the rest of training, and then dynamic stretches, once the muscles are warmed up and a little worked out. Then follow extended stretches, and semi-bouncing stretches, such as switching between splits and doing all the low stances, letting the gravity to do its job first and then deepening. Sounds any good? That has ensured distinct lack of injuries.

  • He's not going to stretch five minutes for each stretch, it's just a demonstration. And these are probably advanced stretch techniques where you should consult a physician before you try Shaolin Kung Fu stretch techniques, lol! Breaking bricks with your skull and stabing yourself with a spear is dangerous too, but these guys are conditioned for all of these things.

  • hahahahah

    johnny!!!!!

  • so the shoilin are actually monks but they practice martial arts when they are not meditating ??? atlest they stay fit

    Could be wrong though...
