In other words, it is naïve to expect that the pro-Kibaki/PNU and pro-Raila/ODM gangs, will only fight against each other forever. If there's no political settlement soon, at some point, the gangs will unite. Then it will become gangs of poor Kibaki and Raila supporters from Kibera, Kiambu, Dandora, and so on, together attacking, without discrimination, the homes of Kibaki and Raila middle class supporters. It happened in Congo. It can happen in Kenya.
Which begs the question, can the violent spiral ever come to Parklands or Muthaiga?
THE ANSWER LIES IN THE OTHER Congo, Congo Brazzaville. Some of the events in that central African country bear some uncanny similarities to what is happening in Kenya today
@Malaika3000 I used to live in Parklands but it is impossible. The meanace cant spread to the the civilized parts of nairobi? What about all the whites and the rich black elite? We will have to call in SAS soon just to protect a few villas.....
The middle class, especially the politicians, have been condemned either for fanning violence or being complacent because it thinks the troubles will not come to the rich suburbs of Muthaiga, Gigiri, and so on.
I came across this... Just a thought for the day :-) have a thoughtful day :-)
As Kenya is being convulsed by post-election violence...
"They have argued that while hundreds of "innocent" poor Kenyans are killed and displaced, the children and grandchildren of the political leaders for whom they are fighting, are enjoying their sweet sleep in leafy suburbs, and continuing to go to expensive private schools in Nairobi and abroad
This is a true color of our nepotism and despotism. We have had it in us for such a long time and we are letting it out.
@itsapuma: you might be right, but It doesn't mater if we point fingers at countries/tribes. Fact, if a country/tribe in one region is not stable, the effects are felt far and wide. As a region, we should build institutions for 'regional stability'. Lets turn our biggest weakness to our strength.
Step up your game Kenyans! You are way better than this. Above all, pray.
cursing each other and hurling insults to kamauS,onyangos or mutuas will not solve any of this chaos and bloodshed, the leaders should all grow up and call for peace. Its the poor people who are being killed, the rich cocoon in their warm homes while the poor dont even have water to drink.ONE KENYA FOR THE 42 TRIBES.
Kenya has fallen low, and from the looks of it, nothing is going to help it from sinking to its lowest. What happened cannot be changed, for years to come Kenya will be seen as a worthless country with no hope...all this because of 2 leaders who are infact educated but are acting as if street man with no sense in them. Both men should accept of what they have done wrong, it is not too late for them to solve their issues. Violence is going to continue, the only way to stop it is if Kibaki leaves.
It is sad to see the way situation is unfolding in Kenya.
We once had a powerful tribe in Somalia, guess what? They are now the weakest tribe. Kikuyus, if kenya goes down, you will pay the ultimate price. Talk to your leaders and advise this mad man (Kibaki) & his cronies.
KENYA and AFRICA in general is FUCKED UP. When the White man left AFRICA our economies and Cities were up to First World standards. Then here comes the old, uncivilized, uncouth and tribalistic AFRICAN who ran down the continent in 40 years and then they expect us the youth to come back and build AFRICA. Hell no ... let the old, stupid AFRICANS who ran the continent down build it. Thanks GOD for AMERICA ... By the way tunataka dual citizenship ama hii passport ya KENYA will be shredded soon
My God what has really befallen kenya?I did'nt hold ma tears back when i saw the pictures of young innocent children crying coz of hunger.Kibaki plize don't u really have mercy on what is happening in our country think twice before it's too late. What is the big issue for u having gone to Addis?
uhuru is a coward, and all these mfkers are just bullshitting so they can look like they are calming people down.Don't try to act like odm leaders never told people to calm down.
This is what leadership is all about! Stepping in at the hour of need! The RV ODM MP's have not shown leadership ability to their supporters by calling on them to stop the mayhem but they can start yelling when one of them is dead. Way to go UK,Kenneth n Lewis.
Thank you police, Peter Kenneth and Uhuru Kenyatta, Lewis Nguyai for your proactive response. Keep reminding the youth that violence will not help matters. Revenge will only exacerbate an already bad situation. What a shame to see such industrious Kenyan people reduced to Internally displaced people!
