It's So important we have these films.... to show us how much has and has not changed. 31 years later. The rag tag parade of 78 has grown to BUDWISER horses and every other commercial sponsor presenting our Gay Pride.. We have become Mainstream yet STILL having to fight for our equality !!
Wow. A few things ran through my mind. How many of those people died in what I consider to be one of the worst plagues of the 20th Century, AIDS. I've lost a number of good friends to that disease.
Then another, we're still fighting the religious bigots.
kd1s, similar thoughts ran through my mind as well. A large number of the people in this video are now dead. I even recognized a few whom I know are gone. Sad and tragic. These videos are like time capsules. Moments in time. In a way, I miss those early days. I've lived through them and survived them. Many were not so lucky.
Stunning. Thank you, historian.

1978 was not that long ago.
It was not that long ago that gay people could not gather openly without being arrested.
It was not that long ago that homosexuality was illegal.
They marched so you could be so insouciantly, obtusely, and OPENLY gay today.
They MARCHED so you wouldn't HAVE TO. We march today to remember THEM, to remember Harvey, and to remember that there is still a long way to go.
Google Stonewall, young man.
You have NO idea how fortunate you are...........
