@createtoserve Well, It looks much better here than in the pictures (why can they never do an item justice?). Do you have any experience with either the Hanwei Solingen or Torino rapiers? I can never decide which one I want more. What I really want is the Windlass Pilsen rapier. To get one in England though, is a pain, and too pricey.
@jagerma5ter I've never used either the Solingen or the Torino, or any Windlass rapier, although I do have a Windlass cutlass that is decent, other than a soft edge. For my next rapier I want a Darkwood Pappenheimer IV.
@createtoserve Ah, I've seen Darkwood, they're nice. I just can't afford one. I don't have a rapier yet, so I'm still in the market for my first. There's no schools near me though which is a pain, you know of any good sources for self study to get me going?
@jagerma5ter Well, my background was originally sport fencing, so when I decided to study historical styles the rapier was the obvious place to start. There are a lot of good videos here on YouTube, but you have to be selective and it helps to know something about which school the people come from and/or which historical works they favor. I highly recommend checking out the "resources" section of thearma.org. Lots of great information and helpful links, presented intelligently. Good videos, too.
@createtoserve Awesome, thanks. I do know a bit about it already and the different schools, just haven't put them into practice. I think Destreza would suit me quite well.
@jagerma5ter Since you were able to name my rapier on sight I figured you'd already know a fair bit. :) Glad I could help. Now if only you were close enough to set up a match...
@createtoserve Haha, I wish! I'm in England, I figured you were in The States. Are you? ......Besides until I actually get a rapier, I'd only be able to face you with a hand-and-a-half.
I like that as a training idea, keep it up. is that the hanwei bone hilt?

@jagerma5ter I'd love a longsword bout too, but yes I am in the States, and the Western part. But I have a brother in London. Not that that helps.

@createtoserve Sadly no, haha!
