Thanks, I would have prefered a longer version too but all my videos are taken with my tiny photo camera and it creates really BIG files on the SD Card.

So if I wanna have some storage left for the macro photos, I have to record only short videos.

in a fruitful field trip in summer, i often use up more than 6GB of SD cards with movies and photos of many critters.

most of them are nothing but garbage, tho. lol

btw, thx to the book by monsieur H. Fabre, most of the japanese ppl know about the french scarabe dung beetle.

Yes, JH Fabre was an awesome naturalist and writter. His writting style is very rich and is very pleasant to read, I dont know if it was well translated because it must be hard to translate old french language :o

Don't you have any dung beetle in Japan ? There are many common species in France, particularly near the Mediterranean sea. This one was found in Corse, there were dozen of them on each dung (4 different species).

yes, we've had very good translators.

all kids in jpn enjoy reading a translated story of Fabre's immortal masterpiece in the class of literature.

many species of dung eating beetles are distributed in jpn.

but only one species (Panelus parvulus) makes a ball out of dung.

ive never found one yet cuz P. parvulus is so tiny (2-3mm).

once i have filmed another dung beetle (Geotrupes auratus) rolling a poop.

Ahah, I didnt know a 2/3mm beetle could make dung balls ! It must be nice to see, but indeed hard to find.

I've seen the video, it surprised me because Geotrupes dont do that in France, they just dig in fresh dungs or gather some pieces of dung in the soil.
