  • God, this is way better than any video for gay marriage that came out of California. People must be sane in Maine.

  • We'll see how sane they are come November!

  • Somehow - Someway changes need to come. It might not be the traditional 'Marriage" term as started earlier in our history but, change will come.

Until then...Love with all your heart.

  • Support fairness for all. Stand for marriage (equality), Maine!

  • Every day I hear about how my American counterparts struggle for equality, I value my marriage even more. I hope and pray that you will also feel the security we have here in Canada soon. Keep up the fight...

  • OMG IM IN OLD ORCHARD BEACH YAY

  • nice video made me tears

  • i think a part of the reason (other than prejudice, unnecessary hate and outdated religion) that people are opposed to gay marriage is because its so different from what they know - people fear the unknown, right? this video should definitely be on tv or somewhere where more people could see it, it shows that gay people are just the same as everyone else. i think it would help change some minds.

  • Yay Maine Senate!

  • hopefully the legislature in Maine cares about equality.

  • Marriage equality will one day prevail in all states.I can't wait!

  • This is wonderful, but it needs to be on television. The people who need to see these stories never will if they only live on YouTube -- break this video up into 30-second spots, and get them on TV right now.

  • Beautiful video! As a CA resident, go Maine! Keep fighting for equal rights!

  • Whatever floats your boat...

  • Go Maine! I have gay friends who have been together three times longer than my marriage lasted. How is that any less legitimate for them to be married to each other than it was for me to be married to my wife?

EVERONE must have Equal Rights for them to be EQUAL.

  • Love knows no gender - equal rights for all Mainers!

  • None of YOUR business who loves whom and who wants to marry whomever..G

  • I am a huge supporter of gay marrage! even though my family however is very prejudace against gays peole, I think everyone deserves to be happy!

excluding gay ppl from marrage is just like the racist times. white supremicy, only this is straight supremicy. ITS WRONG.

and "god" said not to be gay, but "god" mad us, and made us the way we are and feel! you cant help it is you are gay cuz "god" made you that way!

  • I dont care if someone is a conservative or a liberal. Live and let live and let these fine and lovely citizens get married. These are people not objects and deserve equal rights.

  • Good for you! Keep up the excellent work. It will never be a over night acceptance or change, but we can work on it-one person at a time changes the whole world as generations go on. Please do not give up!

  • These couples are an inspiration. Bless you all and NEVER GIVE UP!... for info, I'm Roman Catholic & I support these couples.

  • Hi my name is Art.

    I live in Maine.

    I am married.

  • AUGUSTA MAINE SUPPORTS YOU

  • Yukka2, I am not gay however, I can tell you that Jesus would tell you that love is superior to law, that was his message. He did not like people judgeing people, he did not like the tendency to hurt people in this life to justify life in the next. Study and you will see what i tell you is true.

  • I'm honestly, and not maliciously, trying to reconcile this viewpoint with my own biblical faith. I'm, curious- Do any of you profess a faith in Jesus and if so, how do you couples reconcile this lifestyle with a biblical viewpoint? ( And if you don't know or even care, feel free to say so)

  • I consider myself a Christian. Jesus never once mentioned homosexualty. I think if it were such an issue he would have at least mentioned it. Jest check the red letters in the bible. As far as the passages that condem homosexuality I beleive that anything that man has had a hand in is flawed with his predjudices.

  • i am not gay but fully support gay rights. i went to a catholic school for nine years and we always learned to accept everyone and love everyone, we always defended gay rights in religion class. as for the bible, well, it contradicts itself... a lot... anyways jesus' main message was to love everyone, and the old men who spewed hate-yeah hate- do u really think god told them to write that? or was it an easy way for them to make their own views publicized?

  • not everything in the bible is correct and i think people shud start living w/ jesus' overall message (love ur neighbor) instead of the false tiny details people use to condemn and discriminate others

  • i went to a catholic school for 9yrs and we were taught to love and accept EVERYONE we regularly defended gay rights in religion class. now to ur question- the bible contradicts itself..alot..do u really think god's word wud include discriminating his own children? or did some old guys find the bible as a great way to publicize their personal thoughts?

  • homosexuality is definitely not one of the worst sins in the bible - its only briefly mentioned. things like pride and gluttony are DEADLY sins, but people with big egos or expansive waistlines have no problem reconciling their lifestyles.

  • I DO NOT hate gays, lesbians, Bi-sexuals,transgenders or whatever you are other than Heterosexual but, I am a little torn on getting married. Why not leave the traditional union for man and woman. Why can't you just be together? Peace and Love people. It's just a question.

  • Not only does marriage affirm the love between two people, but it has major legal ramifications as well. Marriage grants 1138 rights to a couple and there is no substitute. There is no such thing as "traditional marriage" - marriage has been in a continuous fluctuation since its original concept. In 1967 the last laws banning interracial marriage were struck down, and the same arguments were used- that it was immoral and violated traditional marriage.

  • Because we want the rights that come with marriage. You can call it civil unions or what ever you want but I pay taxes and deserve the same benefits. I've been with my partner for 15 years and have less rights than heterosexuals that have been together for 15 days.

  • i for 1 think it is outrageous that the government even dares to deny people from getting married!! and what is their main argument? the bible says its bad..well last time i checked there is no national religion AND theres laws separating religion and state. as for texas' question: then wats the poit of heteros getting married? why cant THEY just live together?? why do they get to marry people they love?

  • Separate but equal is not doesn't work, and it cheapens heterosexual marriage if it needs some special status via the disenfranchisement of others.

  • I am not gay but i do support gay marriage. I think that this is great and i hope that someday people will be able to marry who they want to marry. People should just be allowed to be who they are. Good Luck everyone!!!

  • Thank you for your comment! I hope you can also help us educate other potential supporters from straight America!

  • I already commented once, but I wanted to say that Darlene Huntress of Equality Maine gave a great discussion tonight at the University of Maine, to an awesome, well-receiving audience! We've definitely got some blue card "I support marriage equality" sheets circulating around and I encourage everyone to sign these very important cards that will go to your legislator! Tell the state of Maine that you support Marriage Equality!

  • Today is Oct. 7, and I am sad that I could not go to Augusta for the 7 Straight Nights event, as there had been a change in my car ride's situation at the last minute....

  • Great work! I grabbed a copy of the DVD at Common Ground Fair and I'm very impressed and happy to see that EqME is off to a rigorous start! I was happy to be a part of the No on 1 campaign and can't wait to help with the fight for marriage equality!

  • On October 7th, 4 - 6 PM, Maine citizens will rally on the steps of the State Capitol to deliver a simple but powerful message: straight people are demanding equal rights for all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans and their families. This is part of a nation-wide action call "Seven Straight Nights for Equal Rights" October 7th-13th, straight Americans will stand up and proudly assert their respect and support for their LGBT communities.

  • Best wishes to Mary Bonauto & GLAD for helping win the victory (adoption rights) in Maine Supreme Court on August 30. I wish GLAD more victories in the future.

  • This is great. Beautiful. Nice job.

  • i'm not gay and i'm from maine.. i did five years in the navy,am married and have two kids(girls) i think it is just f-ing not right that people do not see love when it is present, you go girl....boys...whatever.

  • I want to move to Maine, and I support gay marriage.

  • Very nice video.

  • Awesome.

  • Wonderful video....very moving and informative. I wish you all luck.....Maine is wonderful and should be as grateful to have you, as you are to call it home.....RAY

  • Love is love....no one should be denied of it. Gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone. Not allowing gays to get married? thats hurting them. By not allowing two adults in love to get married, the government is denying them of the right of pursuit of happiness.

  • I plan on playing this in my Government Public Policy Class, and I have crafted a Bill for Same-sex marriage in Maine.

  • This is a lovely video. I am going to agree with masinindy-it will happen soon.

  • In 1992, about 34% of college students polled "approve" of homosexuality.

In 2006, 62% of college students polled are "okay" with people living their own lives.

In 20 years, gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states. It is a given. Just keep on keeping on!

  • My country is PROUD to have gay marriage.

    Support love!

  • is gay marriage allowed in maine?

  • No it is not allowed. I am from maine

  • Great video.

  • Great video! I'm passing it along to all of my friends. I don't understand how religious fundamentalists can watch this and truly believe that same-sex marriage would destroy society or any other such nonsense. As a civil libertarian, I don't understand the logic of outlawing actions that do not harm or injure others against their will.

  • Because fundamentalists have been brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is a choice, and that supporting it is "encouraging" it, and allowing gay people to "recruit" others into a life of sin.

  • I truly love this video... it's so informative for my friends in Maine whom I met

  • My thanks go to Equality Maine and the participants in this video. It is a reflection of "Maine, The Way Life Should Be" Let's make it happen. Peace, Mike
