Okay, so the video of a single wind turbine signals the utter failure of wind generators altogether? Are you familiar with the creative process, at all?
In the US there are around 14,000 wind turbines left to rot b/c they simply don't produce enough energy to justify the very high cost. So in other words, they are left to decay and litter the land while the environmentalist who cried so loud to have them built are nowhere to be seen cleaning up their mess. Oh and now they don't want them built b/c they kill birds.
Just another knee jerk idea that environmentalist failed to think all the way through..
another great idea down the tubes / open up the coal mines again ..we have enough coal in the UK to last hundreds off years .. but thats to easy ..we need looney daft things like windturbines to waste time and money on ...WE are sitting on an island of coal ..please tell someone ..
I mean what was the thinking behind building these? Did they not plan for 150+mph winds hitting them cuz UK climate is gonna get a lot more storms like this in future infact its gonna get a lot worse as the worlds climate is going through huge changes so these retards who build wind turbines need to take this shit into account or we gonna see a lot more vids on Youtube like this lol
lol us government spent billions for wind turbines that are now all broke down and the people that built them have vanished, the usa is littered with thousands of dead multi million dollar wind turbines.
That's nice you Google wind farm then click and paste info that is written by another yuppy like yourself. U bring up bats? The bats that are killed by the farms is going to send ur world into total meltdown? 30-50 workers? Where has any farm in the US been build by just 50 people? Wikipedia isn't the best source to reference for facts, its alot of times a compilation of BS. And yes delusion, more than 10000 construction jobs in the US are created by farms. Not to mention all the related fields.
Illusion... Your retarded, wrecking habitat? Inefficiency, wrong again retard. The turbines not only create tens of thousands of jobs but also land owners that have mostly never had steady income receive very fair amounts of money during the lease. The money the land owners receive goes into the usually rural areas where these projects are located, as with the on average 100 workers building the farm living and spending money in those areas. Crawl back under the rock dummy.
@SDSuski Always nice to respond to such a polite and well thought out comment. Tell you what, why dont you actually research them a little further before you say I dont know what I'm talking about hm? And yes the drop in pressure kills bats and certain small animals, while the turbines devastate endangered raptor populations. 10,000 jobs? Wind turbines produce 30-50 jobs during construction and 3-5 full time operation/maintenance. 10,000 across the world, significantly less in the area
@SDSuski They provide some money for land-owners and they SEEM to be tackling our energy situation therefore they're brilliant.Go research them objectively and see what you think about windfarms, because we're decades away from going green, and the money from windfarms goes directly into the pockets of the businessmen who build them.Capitalist enterprise at its finest.Funny they got so many hippies thinking they're benevolent
No energy source stands up well to 165 mph winds e.g. pylon power lines came down too. The fact is that wind turbines are part of our future energy supplies, especially as fuel prices rise, why the daily mail spends so much time bashing them I do not know.
@checkyoursources Alrite first off let me say I'm not looking for an argument when I say this, but please, just look into wind turbines and the amount of energy they actually supply. They last for 30 years and then often there is no fund to take them down so they rust and ruin the landscape. The drop in pressure and upheaval of construction decimates the wildlife in the area. And when you look at the negative points they really are hugely inefficient, costly and damaging to the country
@IntangibleIllusion79 Agreed that careful placement is important but the harmful effects of fossil fuels on wildlife and humans far outweigh the negative effects of wind turbines. Most power stations only last 30 years.
@checkyoursources Yes, fossil fuels are not good in any way, but the fact is wind turbines actually need sources of fossil fuel in order to operate, with the power stations they require. And, they dont even cover the higher uses of electricity, so yes, wind turbines are more environmentally friendly, but you cant get by with just wind turbines alone. They're somewhat useless, yes they help out but they cant carry the burden and because of their cost and low effectiveness they're very inefficient
@IntangibleIllusion79 "wind turbines actually need sources of fossil fuel in order to operate" None of the windmills between 1st century AD and the industrial revolution required fossil fuels, we just use them at the moment because our industry is based on them. Agreed that more than one source of alternative technology will be needed. The UK has enough wind energy resources to power the whole of Europe.
@checkyoursources The fact remains, wind power cant handle high energy use, the primetimes of 7-8am and 5-10pm, they need another form of power to cope with these times. The regulation and distribution of wind power takes power stations running on fossil fuels. And the construction and maintenance of turbines does cost a high amount in fuel and transport. Wind energy is only effective around 30% of the whole year, so the "resources" are mere potential, the truth is far less
@checkyoursources It's good we're doing SOMETHING, but it's not enough, and other sources of green energy aren't even viable across the world because of landscape issues. Let's just hope somebody can be highly innovative and come across the next great fuel for the planet, because to be honest I really doubt Earth can accommodate us at the level we're operating at currently, and soon to be even worse with Chinese and African development
@IntangibleIllusion79 "I really doubt Earth can accommodate us at the level we're operating at currently" I agree, so the best way of reducing our impact is more investment in reducing teenage pregnancy and better funding for voluntary family planning as no other single factor plays a role in reducung impact on the environment.
@checkyoursources All I'm saying:there's good reason for people to point out the negative aspects of wind power, and their output shows they aren't the sole solution. We are making a change by using wind farms, but we're nowhere near ready to stop depending on fossil fuels, unless something more effective is found we'll never be able to switch to a more eco-friendly power source.Cruel irony if we ever find more sustainable power and our landscapes and wildlife are scarred with these monstrosities
@checkyoursources All that being said, I do agree with you that they and hydro-electric are the future, just look at Norway for a good example of how well things can work. However, a far better option is to build giant wind farms off-shore
@ghostRs1 Wind turbines blades are locked when the wind speed rises above their operating threshold - this storm was WAY above that of any turbine on the market. This turbines brakes were failingand the fire was caused by the heat of the blades turning against resistance.
In very high speed of wind the wind turbines are turned off. This one probably turned off correctly and at started working again, which probably led to overheat.

ZERO-NOISE from gears and generators since they are sealed underground.
SAVES THE BIRDS AND BATS since slow-moving.
DOES NOT NEED TO OCCUPY A WIDER LANDSCAPE since the turbine can be very tall.
MAY BE LOWER-COST since it may use timber and other cheaper things.
ELUDES HURRICANE FORCE since the V-type folding blades automatically close.
NO FIRE since it is kept cool.
