My favorite Beatles song as well. Great idea they had to keep the ending going so long! As far as I'm concerned, it could have kept going for another 20 mins haha. na na na na.... love it!
Paul McCartney wrote this song for Julian when John and Cynthia were in their divorce proceedings in an attempt to cheer him up. Named after John's mother Julia, Julian, john had some other nicknames for Julian, some of which include Jude, and Jules.
@00792756 Right. It is a very warm attention that Paul shared for Julian. And I think John agreed that Paul was absolutely warm-hearted when he wrote the song for poor little Julian.
If you listen at about 2:58, you hear a sound from John Lennon while Paul keeps singing. It sounds like "Ohh!" at first, but it is really him saying "...chord!" You can barely hear it, but if you listen really closely, you can hear him say "Got the wrong CHORD." He says "chord" much louder than the other words. And @3:00 you can hear McCartney say "F**king hell
@McLovinguitar4 They recorded different instruments and vocals parts at different times so when paul says "F**king hell" is when he was recording piano among others and vocals were at another time. then they just put the different tracks together right.
@Geoffteyyyyyyy I read that the sound engineers said it was Paul who said "f hell" because he made a mistake on the piano. They also said it was John's idea to leave it in "'Paul hit a clunker on the piano and said a naughty word,' Lennon gleefully crowed! Given that Paul was a perfectionist and was bossy about getting things perfect - i'm surprised he agreed to leave it in.
I was comparing flac files of the stereo and mono versions to decide which one to buy, but apparently the FLAc files for mono are smaller than stereo (all the ones I've found available). Anyone knows why??
Hey, where do you get the pictures that you use in your videos for the album covers? Cause I'm uploading mine into my iPod and I want some good artwork :)
ahh, Wikipedia's a good site my friend :). I use that for ALL my album covers for my songs. 500x500pixels for the size of an album is perfect for iTouch, mp3's, etc. when it shows the album art.
I am 56 I grew up on these guy's it would be interesting if they put Hey Jude and Revolution on the Cd's they make now as bonus song's that is where they belong ....It would also be nice if they finished releaseing the U.S. Capitol Albums (Vol. 3) Yesterday & Today, Revolver, Hey Jude and Rareties...
The Beatles had a habit of not including singles on their studio albums, because they wanted their fans to get their money's worth out of the singles. It probably was a mistake that they left this (and Revolution) off the The White Album. I'd have replaced Revolution with Revolution 1 and made Hey Jude the closing song on the album. If they'd have done that, The White Album would have kicked even more ass than it currently does!
sorry i thought he mean't revolution 9. lol i love revolution 9,it's a great song if you guys wanna call it a song,i think it is. but the majority of the public wouldn't think the same.
more a sound montage..and to the BEATLES (or really John lennon's credit) brave to put it to disc although only they could get away with it...yeah ..i like it for what it is...
This sounds great. Didn't know that Let it Be was released in mono. Wasn't stereo gaining popularity at this point. Seems like bands no longer record in this great format.
1968. 13 years old. This was THE SONG at school dances, the best slow dance of all time that lasted a blissful 8:22 minutes with my main crush. Ahh, memories. :) Still the best after all of these years. Mono rocks. Thanks for posting.
41 years ago this time when some people thought the Beatles were washed-up they came roaring, screaming, exploding-atom-bomb-back with this their greatest single which stayed at #1 for 9 WEEKS IN A ROW at the end of the summer in 1968. Simple aren't enough superlatives in the dictionary for this incredible piece of art. The mono version has a slightly longer fade-out than the stereo. Thanks.
thespermdonor, if i may call you that, there are Paperback Writer vids on here from vinyl 45's you may want to look up that have more punch and balance than the stereos. I haven't seen the new remasters of it here yet but check out the vinyl drops they have here.
cafewindows... Get Back in mono is on the new mono masters disc which has not been put here. Check out on here the needledrops of Get Back where people play their old mono 45s here and you'll get a good sense of it.
these are digital remasters... just cause even the vinyl version (no remasters) had WAY better quality then the digital version we had before 9/9/2009 :)
i prefer this mono version, better than the stereo mix (piano right/ guitar left/ voice drum... middle)
