  • I just feel so bad for Jody because she only got in by her looks not her skill and now getting flack from instructors and classmates/competition and somehow I favor her more than the rest of the characters... =/

  • Juliet reminds me of what I imagine my ballet teacher's ballet teacher was like. According to my teacher, HER teacher would call you "dear" if you were doing something wrong. She had the same teacher as Alan Foley (the Artistic Director of the Cork City Ballet), and he says it was a wonder that no one had the piano thrown at them! Thank God my teacher isn't as bad as hers- note that I said AS bad! Still, she's a good teacher, just as I'd imagine Juliet and my teacher's teacher were!

  • Im not familiar with classic musics please tell me the name of the song on 5:50 please please please i love it thanks

  • In the cygnets dance in Swan Lake at around 5:50, the second swan from the right was Sugar Plum Fairy (as a guest artist) in Ballet Minnesota's (which I used to be a part of) Nutcracker for like 10+ years; I was in it with her. She played Odette 2 years in a row with the same company too. She also taught a summer intensive class I took one summer.

I was absolutely horrible at ballet though! :D

  • its a bit much to do romeo and juliet and swan lake on the same night, don't you think??

  • @mliaab It was probably a gala performance, like extracts from different ballets

  • When she said Stephen I immediately thought of Toby Turner XD but she said it non-hysterically

  • That woman at the performance looked like a feather. So soft and so graceful.

  • Ballet is just so beautiful

  • If this was a real Ballet school they'd kick Eva out for her awful attitude, hell, they'd kick her out of class for not being in uniform.

  • Lol I don't think Ive seen Zoe in playing such a bitchy role before. You'd think her character would be more grateful for getting a scholarship.

  • I looove this movie, but one thing I don't get is Eva's attitude. I could picture someone like her being mean to Maureen or the other dancers, but I don't understand why Eva's so hateful to her teachers and Johnathan. You'd think she'd be nicer to the big bosses in the hope of getting a job, right?

  • She looks like jelly in his arms

  • The blond girls look just the same, can't tell the difference

  • @MsSencer my thoughts exactly:)

  • i wouldnt go and make comments about peoples wait ever heard of karma morine .and these ballerinas are tiny but graceful :)

  • eva a.k.a zoe saldana is directly of dominican and puerto rican descent.

  • she does not look spanish

  • @LisaSnicket She actually is in real life.

  • @Slimhill92 but she still looks 100% black

  • @LisaSnicket Well she isn't. Some Dominicans do look black though

  • @Slimhill92 yeah shes black

  • @Slimhill92 Just to clarify, can't Dominican's be Black?

  • @Quibbles2000 they can be a similar color, but don't ever call a dominican "black". my boyfriend is dominican and he get's really annoyed when ppl confuse his ethnicity. being black refers to African American/Haitian/Somali/Jamaican

dominicans are Latin American or Hispanic.

  • @PIXIEGIRL12341 Tell me about it!

  • So far I've watched this at least 5 times this month and I never get tired of it. Watching my cous do ballet is kinda boring but I luv dis movie as well as its sequal, center stage turn it up.

  • Wow, ballerinas really have no boobs.

  • @lordportico having boobies in ballet is a disadvantage.

  • I did this exercise today 2:41 ...with the same music ...when i saw the exercise i laugh because i remember it here!!

  • @ftnclothes so did I!

  • so beautiful

  • it's great that they show what students go through at a school like this but it doesn;t include outside of ballet how they have to stay maintained....but i <3 this movie!

  • Hey. People have Their opinions and no one is going to change them whether anybody likes it or not, so don't argue with each other over what people think because you're an individual and you have thoughts and oppinions an their your own and you dont want anybody tearing it down it's more hatred to a world that has plenty of it.

  • Being a "Better ballerina" comes from VERY hard work and training. Your race is inconsiquential. (though Russians are known for their gorgeous talents of ballet). It does not matter what your ethnicity is if your truely love the art, work for it and you CAN be the best ballerina whether your white, black, asian, hispanic, anything. I really hate when people think your ethnicty defines your possiblities.

  • @Maewynn2011 Actually your the idiot here you dumbass hoe! Who the fuck do you think you are saying white are better ballerina's? Your racist ass needs to get a life then make stupid ass comments!

  • @megacupcake4444 LOL, whatever you think! :D Loser. Dont messge me back, you you say "who am I" to say what I said, who are YOU to sy what you said. Just because YOU or anyone else dosent agree with MY opinion doesnt make them right. So go fuck yourself bitch.

  • @Maewynn2011 im the loser? ok? I never said it makes them right. can you read? btw saying "go fuck yourself bitch" does not make your ugly ass seem cool.

  • @Maewynn2011 This coming from the person who called me a dumbass hoe, without EVER talking to me in your life. NOT to mention YOU harassed me first by saying that, so I replied. Why didnt you just leave me alone?????? Did I comment to YOU? NO. I dont care what you think, that is my opinion and its not going to change. I think white people are better ballerina's ... wow get over it. BTW: Calling me ugly isnt "cool" either considering you dont know what i look like. I believe I ALSO said dnt reply

  • why are they all so "flat chested" ?

  • @nellysuicidal666 it a balance thing, most of em dont have butts eitherr

  • @lukebccb it wasn't it was just certain scenes :)

  • WTF? Look I get the whole "suspension of disbelief" thing but what ballet company runs "Swan Lake" and "Romeo and Juliet" on the same NIGHT let alone the same season????

  • @lukebccb Probably a mixed rep gala :)

  • @maya52497 its an excerpt from tchaikovskys swan lake, "dance of the little swans"

  • Zoe Saldana IS black or dark if you want, I mean she's even darker than Beyoncé or Alicia Keys. But she's not African American , that is the difference.

  • The girls are so skinny! Damn!

  • this movie is awesome! eva is the best!

although i think ana should have had a different look cuz there i times that i can't tell whether if it's jodi or ana

  • Was the "ballet" they were seeing supposed to be, like, a medley of scenes from different ballets, or were they just being stupid...cause last time I checked, the pas de quatre and the balcony scene were from two different ballets...

  • @Funtabulosity329 that's what I'm guessing

  • @Funtabulosity329 i think in benefits they perform different routines from different ballets. usually the most popular or recognizable. benefits are basically to display the talent i think

  • @bnicci ahhh, ok. thanks for clearing that up!

  • @8:50 Nice bulge ;)

  • Do you see Aesha Ash at 1:27?

  • men in tights... yum =]

  • I use to love my dance classes sooo much, but my Father pulled me out, saying it was a sport and stuck me in karate! I hated it! This movie brings back some memories though!

  • People don't realise ballet is harder than it looks?

    IT LOOKS ASTONINSHLY HARD.

  • no boobs there.

  • @memer1134 yeah, near-skeletons in tutus are quite attractive.

  • @questions117 I know some wonderful dancers that are not skinny minnies. And they are amazing.

  • Zoe is a great actress

  • Comment removed

  • Eva is sooo pretty! i think she looks a little like Tyra Banks! :D

  • @23Ballerina I know! I always thought she was soo pretty

  • people dont realise that ballet is way harder than it looks! xx

  • @melissalovesjls Yes I agree. It is very physically demanding to be a ballerina. No Question!!! You have to be athletic and in top shape. Kudos to those who chose this as a profession!!! :)

  • @piccolomaster agreed :)

  • @piccolomaster I agree. I have a passion for Ballet and am trying my best to progress in my technique. I do not want to dance professionally (why an added stress?) but enjoy what I do and appreciate the beauty of it. There are millions of talented dancers out there, and though some people decide to attempt pursuing this art as a career, we should work on being the best dancers as we can as individuals. .

  • @sevrinaanastasia Best of luck to you and I wish you well. I agree with your statement about being the best dancers as you can be individually. Tough profession no doubt.

  • @piccolomaster you get paid peanuts for the amount of work that's put in as well

  • @jinpitakki33 Sad but true. Unless you are the prinicpal.

  • @melissalovesjls you're right but I guess it shouldn't look harder... it's part of the talent make it look the easiest thing to do...

  • disastrous script.who writes this stuff?

  • they wouldnt put up with evas crap theyd just kick her out

  • Maureen is such an un-ballerina-like name.

  • @Bozpot what the hell

  • @xxDancingBabyxx Sorry, just my weird brain. Over here in England it's generally pronounced MAU-reen, rather than mau-REEN and I associate it with a plump, middle-aged woman with her hair in rollers and a headscarf who runs a pub or a greasy-spoon cafe and shouts at the customers - a bit like something from Monty Python. A far cry from the pretty, young woman in the film.

  • @Bozpot hahah i understand now

  • Ugly hat alert!

  • is this where we are supposed to believe that cooper is not gay

  • i dont like morine.

  • men in tights....it's just wrong.

  • The problem when I did ballet is that I had a crappy arch, heavy build and boobs

  • Their dance at 5:50 looked ridiculous. I mean, the footwork was great, but seriously, they looked ridiculous with their bouncing tutus.

  • @lidiluvu well there suppose to be swans because that dance was from Swan lake

  • look at there heads haha

  • Zoe doesnt get enough credit in my opinion. She is awesome in every film she is in. Sassy and strong in Star Trek and absolutely amazing in Avatar

  • Their legs kind of freak me out at 6 minutes. They are super skinny and look like Flamingo legs.

  • I go to AMDA and have been told many times that the intense training there is like that in the film... Yikes. But they only take 500 students her year, so... :)

    Love this movie.

  • Hate that tall dark girl they all compliment what a nasty bitch! Jodie is beautiful and a brillant dancer

  • So, ballerinas REALLY need to watch their weight, eh? That's "no joke", then? I mean, I knew they had to be thin, but, okay, yeah, this is probably a dumb comment, but they appear to be gazelle-like. I guess the longer a dancer exercises certain muscles, the sooner his or her body will take the shape of a ballerina. Also, the muscles become more "toned." I wonder if this is where many eating disorders begin?

  • not likin' this eva one!! lol the most unattractive thing in a dancer is a bad attitude.. a big no-no ^^

  • @Backlashxox true but maureen is just as bad arogence is an ugly ugly thing in a dancer to me

  • @iluvamedic very true.. doesnt matter how good you are, its important to show respect for teachers/choreographers no matter how much theyre hard on you or whatever, because the reality is, most teachers, choreographers etc, arent exactly the nicest people youre gonna come across, thats just how the business is in the real world, and if youre arrogant and have a bad attitude, more than likely you wont go very far..

  • omg I'm dancer and my name is Eva

  • I think ballet is bo-ring! But I like this movie!

  • 3:07 Steven is cute..hahahahh!

  • "So glad you could fit us into your busy schedule, Eva"

    "Oh, no sweat"

    Hahaha :)

  • The ballet teacher is DONNA MURPHY...a phenomenal singer/actress, Tony-Award winner...the lady is FIERCE. I knew her when she started to become 'known'...check her out! x

  • That Romeo/Juliet ballet was absolutly beautiful!

  • why is that girl doing ballet when she doesnt want to why doesnt she just leave or say no in the beginnin

  • @runrockwater IKR!!!! i would kill my self to go to a skool like that!

  • Wasn't the teacher in the new Fame?

  • this movie makes me want to be a dancer!

  • PROKOFIEV! :D

  • The girl is not back, she's Dominican, just telling you.

  • I hope to get that skinny soon..

  • I love ballet, but I wish i was so skinny like that people!

  • THE Kathleen Donahue has a really stupid hat.

  • does she have no bones in her body??

  • "porta Bra" [excuse my spelling!] My brother used to think that meant a portable bra!

  • The last time in class when I was banging my toe shoes on the ground i let go of it and it hit me in the head...everyone laughed but it hurt soooo much

  • they are so skinny!!!

  • porta bra xD

  • Wow...is it even humanly possible to be that skinny?

  • @JustToPostComments: Yes and as a matter of fact, you're looking at them.

  • @FredericaBimble Actually, it looks to me as if the screen is slightly elongated, meaning everyone looks to have been stretched a bit. Maybe it's my monitor

  • I Love this film so muuch i watch it like everday ;L

  • The Rome & Juliet scene was so beautifully enchanting..in emotions and stance <3!..Thank you again ^_^

  • lol..wow..Eva has so much attitude....i love doing ballet :) & the guy with the dark hair {charlie} he is so cute ^_^

    Thank you ^_^

  • zoe saldana is one of my favorite actresses and also ballerinas she is amazing.

  • Which one is Julie Kent?

  • @americangirlballet The lady that they run into in the hall after watching the guys class

  • @americangirlballet she plays kathleen donahue

  • I adore the Romeo and Juliet scene. Julie Kent is so graceful and incredible. Same goes for Ethan Stiefel. 8:15-8:21 gives me chills every time.

  • @troubleinkw So much energy in Ethan Stiefel. I love his style. I did not care very much for guys into ballet until I saw him in this movie.

  • why are they sitting on the floor when there are sofas right next to them? lol

  • To keep their legs warm. When dancing you can't allow your leg muscles to get too relaxed ,even during breaks or you will lose the level of flexibility you have worked into and have to warm up all over again-at least sitting on the floor u can continue to stretch to keep your legs warm and muscles flexed.

  • Omgosh, The guy who plays Sandy Cohen on The OC is in this!

  • ballet daacers wear a pointe shoes

  • ♥ Zoe Saldana

  • i luv ZOE SALDANA ..she is always great in her movies especially AVATAR, STAR TREK AND HAVEN..

  • @gladysk001 I love Zoe too. This is her breakthrough role for sure!!!! I love this film.

  • Watching this movie again alway's makes me miss doing balet, thanks for uploading.

  • me too.. when they walk by the lincoln center i cry a little bit inside.

also, i DIE for this version of romeo and juliet.

  • i wish i could be zoe.

  • I've seen Zoe in TV movies other than this, she has a great smile.

  • zoe saldana is basically playing herself. when she danced in new york how many other peurto rican girls were with her answer none.

  • LOL i love how the dance made the"tough " Eva cry

  • I looooooooooooooooooooved Zoe Saldana in Avatar and this movie so much, she's beautiful.

  • omg i soo didnt know that was her shes awesome

  • ahh theres no stricter dance than ballet.. yet its addictive and this movie is great!

  • ok i cant wait till i get my point shoes...they all look absolutly beautiful when these girls dance ..this movie really made me really want to watch it again

  • vous n'auriez pas le lien pour l'avoir en français? merci d'avance

  • The black girl is really beautiful!

  • Ik HuH

  • @gullet86 She's actually not black at all, she's Dominican. Some are darker. I have a cousin who is.

  • @Domo4eva That may be so, but Ms. Saldana identifies as a black woman. She's quoted as saying: "When I go to the D.R., the press in Santo Domingo always asks, '¿Qué te consideras, dominicana o americana?' (What do you consider yourself, Dominican or American?)... I'm like, 'No! Let's get it straight, yo soy una mujer negra.' ('I am a black woman.')"

  • @gullet86 Shes puerto rican actually...

  • @JessicaBeautylol Her mother is Puerto Rican, her father is Dominican, she lived in DR for 7 years, and she identifies herself a black woman.

  • @gullet86

    She's Dominican and Puerto Rican.

  • @VntgeLve i really thought she was half black but i never knew shes latina..shes beautiful really lovin this movie much since i was in highschool...it made me do ballet even more coz of this movie...

  • @gullet86 She is spanish

  • zoe was great in center stage and avatar!

  • love eva.... zoe zaldana is the best... caribean girlll DR

  • I love Eva.

  • yyeessss!!XD eva is the best!!^__^

  • Right ! She's awesome ! Not a bitch like most of them =)

  • I'm in level 2. I do the same exact stretches they do in that video! How cool! :D

  • why are they wearing pointe shoes?

  • My mom did ballet when she was younger, and said the point has a hard material inside so that they dont break their toes when they are on them since they are on their very tippy toes.

  • I think the lift at 8:20 is way better than the Dirty Dancing one!

  • That is a huge class!!

My class is only 3 people including me!

  • Mine has eight, including me :) How long have you been dancing for?

  • I have bin dancing for 9 years.

    I love it so much!
