  • Someone buy me a Laser.

  • lord nelson would get a boner if he saw this.

  • @gewizz2 ..and you would get a boner if you saw that..

  • @aphalunj ...oh haha i get it. smart mofo. try saying that to me face.

  • Dear santa

  • water worlds got nothing on this

  • pretty cool seeing it pratically out of the water

  • Beautiful. Wonder how they tack...

  • The video was uploaded in 2007 and WE STILL DON'T KNOW THE MUSIC !! Can anyone help us ?? Thanks

  • Sails are reefed in a bit and look at how fast it goes...

  • wouldnt want to fall off youd be fucked

  • 47 knots and it looked like there was a second reef in!

  • that is an amazing boat

  • look at that man hobble 0:26

  • I wish I had a sailboat like this.

  • I also use the DIGINAV system as a backup chartplotter...

  • Nice Video :D !!! What's the music please ^^ ?

  • How it is possible that in XXI century we still sail on vertical sails? Dummy and not respectful civilization, I guess.

  • @digicho Because it's fast as fuck and it's free? Are you fucking retarded?

  • @quinnweller Vertical sails are faster, because they are higher and got faster wind. We are seeing here kevlar sails which are not free anyway. Don't you ever learn dumb?

  • Horizontal sails placed at top of mast are faster then ANY vertical sails because they catch faster wind. Horizontal sails are more consistent with hydrofoils. They make boat more stable therefore less then 3 hydrofoils is needed and there is less resistance from water. More speed I say!

Next time more money to think tank.

  • @digicho Oh, I read it too fast and skipped the vertical sails part. I thought you meant ALL sails, not just vertical ones. My bad.

  • La velocidad que dicen no es cierta, simplemente es mentira, solo ahce falta ver el video,

  • Simply, truly amazing.

  • A BIG TOY - amazing accomplishment, showing the excess power of WIND we have yet to harness productively - so the crew does noot need to go to the corner to keep her FLYING like nothing else ever = well done indeed (viv la france')

  • Почти 90 километров в час. Мощно. Внушаить.

  • Ill be impressed if they beat the kiters. 55.65 kts. :-P

  • @JeffStoleman That did take a broken rib to be fair. On the upside, you can get the whole setup in your car. Stunning effort though, reminded me of the Ekranoplan ground-effect thing, I wonder if that's the next step?

  • the main sail inst even all the way up

  • That race style cockpit is just phenomenal.

  • What an amazing accomplishment. Hats off to the french.

Hydrofoil fans may enjoy a Youtube review of hydrofoil history (mostly US Navy ships in flight): HYDROFOILS--U.S. NAVY'S AWESOME TALE

  • watch?v=4JaNFoCRVOc <--- OMG YOU GUYS NEED TO SEE THIS ITS SO INCREDIBLE

  • DAMN! That looks awesome :D

  • What song is being used in this video?

  • arguing on the internet is like the special olympics: even if you win, your still retarted

  • @ringapowa9000 it's spelled "retarded" with a "d"

  • @daemonpacman hahahaha my bad

  • @kosiar100 most of the time :)

  • ahhh 240p i thought id seen the last of you

  • Sod that, looks like reet hard work!

  • if it was flying then why is is going up and down with waves???????????? because water is pushing it up i have one read the books ass holes they dont really fly

  • @bgj27030 So... how would an asshole define "fly"? Although only a junior asshole, in my humble opinion, flying is when something like an airfoil is used to create a pressure differential which causes a force (generally upwards), and is known to us assholes as lift. Look up ground effect

  • @krap101 sorry i didnt mean to affend your ass holes but you cant fly underwater

  • @bgj27030 I'm sorry, but we assholes don't tolerate dumbasses. Ever see the diving planes on a submarine? They are shaped like airfoils>>lift>>flying underwater. Air is a fluid. Water is a fluid. You can create lift underwater>>you can fly underwater. I think I am being trolled, because I don't think anyone can be so stupid

  • @bgj27030 actually yes you can dumbfuck. conversation ended.

  • and why do we still use petroleum? use our brains instead

  • FUNNY----I don't see any niggers

  • haha

  • well we all know who got the short straw... 0:45

  • @mazerhat ... and TGVs

  • @kwalliander and wines

  • I've never seen a sailboat with a Momo steering wheel!

  • Yaargh!

  • eat your heart out davy jones

  • @Tomsonrk first off it's called a hydrofoil and second off you shouldn't be swimming where they are sailing

  • 40 people have been hit by those underwater wings^^

  • What if you hop

  • incredible, magic, and I want one

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO

  • ca doit etre plaisent ...gangs de chanceux...et c'est tres joli a voir vogué...merci

  • Imagine what that will do to a shark or whale with those sharp metal bits underneath

  • cool

  • That is some kickass sailing!

  • Does anyone know the name of the background muic?

  • beautiful vid!! But why aren't all these guys attached to the boat with life-lines? We probably all remember the accident with the Volvo Ocean Race couple years ago...

  • @derkiesterkie They'd probably all break their necks if attached to this thing flipping over. But they could where auto-inflatable vests. Probably a French macho thing not to.

  • @kwalliander They have flotting vests dummy

  • this is absolutely insane! life is meaningful for these guys, for sure

  • Imagine the nose of that thing taking a dive! What if early explorers had discovered hyrdofoils? Rape of the natural world much quicker I guess

  • Magnifique!!

  • This major speed accomplishment has two components: 1. French 2. Running away from something. Probably Germans, perhaps muslims.

  • @kosiar100 they may be faster but what happens when your motor hydrofoil runs out of gas????? i'll pass you strait with this same wind power hydrofoil and laugh at you, HAHA :P

  • as anyone who's owned a Nacra Catamaran, you get the idea of flying (gliding over the water t speed with the safety over water and not the flying a plane risks

Its really relaxed loads of fun. This was awsome watching that speed just above the water Why not!!!

  • at this point, i think it would be more beneficial if you took the hydrofoils out of the water and made them into wings. :P

  • life's a reach

    then you jibe

  • Great stuff, 47 knots is crazy fast. How much did it cost to go that fast?

  • where are the brakes?

    lol

  • Nice hidrof...heyyyyyy hot boatbabes on the suggestions on the right. Right on!

    *Click on the link*

  • punishment......just watching makes me sea sick, and the water is cold on top of that !

  • awesome

  • whats the draft on that thing?

  • do u feel a hard impact when the boat slows down and the actual boat is hitting the surface?

  • These guys aint got shit on Kevin Costner XD

  • WoW, She is nice, fast too, cool guys, real nice.

    Thom in Scotland.

  • крутяк!!!!!!!!!!

  • ffing amazing..

  • Video like Starwars !!

    GREAT

  • @kosiar100 your right on the last one ^^

  • Shit i wish i could have a sail on one of those.Imagine if they had the main sail at full mast!!!! :)

  • @slideways200sx if they had the full main it would capsize! lol.

  • @kosiar100 i just said that wind is better than a engine (i)

  • are they attempting suicide by sailboat????????????

  • One ill timed gust of wind and those guys are picking seaweed out of their teeth LOL!

  • Fucking crazy frogs, thats like flying six foot off the water. LOVE IT!!!

  • Norris called, he wants his angel wings back

  • whats this speed in kilometers or miles?

  • @LordApocalypse7 87kph, 52mph

  • That is fabulous engineering. What a ride!

  • i just love how nature can beat everything that's man made !

  • Now that's sailing!!

  • Music? :D

  • LOL!! its the boat from WATERWORLD!!! the old movieee! xD

  • what is the name of the song on this video? it's oddly familiar xD

  • Majestic!

I'm so taken in by french language and etheric music!

    .

I will now wipe my ass with an angels wing.

  • @rklcardinal hahahaha

  • Wow thats cool...looks like something outta star wars with a sail stuck on it lol

  • thats a big ass boat its like a jog to get from one end to the other

  • That is a "WOW". 5 Stars. The camera work and music is the star of this show. Kudos!

  • Wow, just the best! 5 stars.

  • GREAT WORK GUYS!!! You make my dream coem true! I would love one day to sail a boat like this!!!

  • L'incredible!!!!

  • WTF is there a reef in the mainsail? 0:52

  • WTF is there a reef in the mainsail?

  • Due respect to the concept designers of this craft, however, Its stability or inherent lack there of makes it appear that the crew has to fight constantly to keep it in trim. Any minor change in its attack angle causes the crew to scurry like methed up cockroaches to get the boat trimmed up to its new configuration. I guess when you are attempting to set new records you will go through any pains to achieve them. The only person having any fun during this quest appeared to be the pilot.

  • @1955thekeeper

Didn't look any different from any yacht race I've ever seen. What you were seeing is them trimming it out for maximum speed.. they weren't on a pleasure cruse.

Wonder what the minimum speed to get it aloft is... that would be more the question as to the success of the design. Bottom line is that any time you can reduce your waterline to about a foot and a half it's got to be a plus. (grin) I loved it.

  • @PaleHearse I believe that I acknowledged every aspect of the "record speed achievement", which you refer to in your reply. I am not of the yacht race set, however the success of the design should also accomplish the task of allowing the crew to trim their craft with the least amount of peril to themselves. The whole procedure appeared to be pitched on the edge of a razor blade as it concerns crew safety. Pleasure cruise aside, running the equator of the craft every 20 seconds is crazy!

  • For everybody: 47knots = 88km/h = 55MPH !!!!

  • How can people dislike this?

  • WOOOWWW JUJUUU BUENISIMO!!!

  • what if you hit a rock thats underwater? O_O!

  • These guys are totally speaking French. That's frigin awesome.

  • the ride of a lifetime!

  • isnt that the yatch that got attacked by a squid

  • i would laugh it the boat hit some shoals!

  • =O =/ =) 8D thats beautiful! =)

  • awesome

  • marvelous, but why the arms are not very aerodynamic?

  • can somebody explain to me how hydrofoil works?

  • @Sietze10 wikipedia sure can

  • I would want a mouth guard, seat belt, life jacket, and crash helmet to take this ride!!! In 2004 I crashed my own catamaran running fast, in a down wind luff, only going about 1/2 the rate of this machine. The boat pitchpoled, I was fastened to the boat with a strong hiking strap over my left knee. The rapid deceleration inflicted a whip-lash injury at the top of my hips, breaking my third lumbar ! The lesson? Going fast is fun, stopping fast, much less so !

    Happy sailing!

  • @PDSalling Congratulations, you've effectively ruined this beautiful display of speed and elegance for me.

  • @ArtisticwithaK Speed and elegance...(violins in the back-ground!)? this clip is 'all that' and more! Its material science, aero engineering, decades of hard work and large cajones!

What ever ths is to you, adreniline abounds! The exhuberence these men feel, I have experienced my self ! But, consequences have a way of 'catching-up' to the 'thrill-seekers' !. No one wants to 'go-to-hell' for their past-time, but as they all say (after the crash) ''Life's a bitch, and then you DIE!''

  • It allready happened, it breaked down and sink. It took them more than 10 years to achive this.

  • what if the hit a whale or some dolfins?

  • Eric Tabarly was the first to introduce Hydrofoil in sail racing.

  • @syntaxerror9 That's right, he worked on the hydroptere project at the biginnig and helped the team to find money.

  • some day i winna go for this but right now optimist and laser

  • 0:27 GTFO my way!!

  • Glorioso !!!

  • Man. I love this video. Sailing is down here in Newport, Rhode Island with fall/winter around the corner. This video makes me want to sneak out and trap a Hobie for a Saturday. Thanks for posting.

  • a thing to know the "hydroptère" made by alain thébault (french sailor who worked on this project with eric tabarly famous french sailor yachtsman before his dead in 1998) has benefited the DCNS engineering for the manufacture of its special cockle to earn weight

DCNS is a high technology french state builder (french state firm with juste 5% private financial since 2003)

DCNS had made special cockle in several coats of carbon fiber soaked in resine by structure in nest of honeybee

  • @alpacks the whole is covered with a coat of kevlar ... (it's a military developed for special and stealthy ships for french navy)

He had also on his foil have a stemming suspension from the "dassault rafale" french fighter for his marine version on CDG aircraft carrier (rafale M) which goes into action from 30 t strengh by allowing the foil to go back up partly during some tenth of second of the peak

then to take back his initial position before following wave

  • @alpacks this ships had benefited lot of french military technology ...

His world record is not falling from the sky ;-)

  • obviously are french

  • This is great. Riveting. That hydrofoil is face paced...but not a fast paced as "Hydrofoil - The Musical"

  • 25 knots!!!

  • just beautifull

  • 54 mph on the water with the power of wind. Thats amazing.

  • I met a lovely young French girl last week as she was helping to get this boat ready to go to New Brittany. They were tied up next to our Cruise Ship in Toulon,France. They are going to try to beat the new speed record set by another Tri.

  • love,awe,ember!

  • You too can fly like this, and for a LOT less bucks.. Look into Moth class boats

They are using foils now too. heres a video

    youtube.com/watch?v=NCY1EAp9FfY

  • it must ride more smooth than a regular boat

  • Waterskies?

  • imagine a boat that is pure hydrofoil, nothing buoyant at all, the only thing keeping you up is speed, wouldnt that be cool...

  • @ussyless except for docking.....lol

  • id rather commute up and down the traffic so cal coast in that at 47 knots as opposed to a ferrari forced to obey the speed limit

  • Does anyone know what the song in this video is called? ty...

    Very impressive boat.

  • wonderfull experience

  • A copy of the boat in Waterworld LoL

  • Would be useful to have the comment in CC ( closed caption).

Maybe the AP Audemars Piquet boys can arrenge that.

    Merci beaucoup excellent klip.

  • I saw the boat at the Kieler Woche in Kiel. Amazing.

  • wow!! id love to be on that boat

  • I LOVE THIS KIND OF BOATS

  • Amazing

  • im jealous...i hate them...FTW!

  • That's sooo cool

  • where do they poop

  • 37 people floats.

  • Soundtrack??? Who was that??? Truly we as humans have mastered the power of wind..... kinda. Oh, and as to the comments of my fellow American's, you may think we are the greatest, but fat, lazy, an if you had a education that would stand in the world market, maybe you would know what language they where speaking.

    WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SHIP!!!
