I thought originally that the reaping was random choice & let it go but once I finished the serious; the whole thing behind "reality" TV made me start wondering if The Capital actually is way more big brother in the districts. Buzz from peacekeepers on who would be a good 'bet'. Katniss once mentions how sometimes people bet on who will be picked-who would put on a good show. They got the best viewing with Peeta & Katniss, from her volunteering to Peeta's love triangle. what do you think?

@MsPurefunk you have a point cause later in the series Katniss mentions that the victors children's names get chosen for the reaping, and that this happens more often than not.

@lovesbooks2012 Exactly. In catching fire all the victors begin to discuss how the capital uses the victors after their wins & tortures all their loved ones. I always wondered why Haymitch didnt explain more of this to Katniss & Peeta. But then I also wondered how much he manipulated them too. I think he saw the potential of them being a leading *couple* long before they won the 74th hunger games.

I agree with @gummybears719. Ms Collins wrote her story to be thought provoking.

I love this series, and it helps me keep up with all of the definitions and the latest movie news, but get your facts straight! Katniss had 28 entries, not 20. And Gale only had 42, not 60. If he had 60, I would have just shipped him off to the capital myself, because he was definitely getting picked!!
