@FloppyHatPhotos It's mostly so I can see the keyboard underneath it. But I do think it also looks cool. Unfortunately the desk is covered in stuff more often than I'd like to admit...
@TwiggyPunky It's been a few years, so I'm not sure the dollar amount would be the same, but: 2 4'x8' boards, a hand jigsaw, a gallon of really dark grey (almost black) paint, a cheap Ikea drawer, a used keyboard holder ($40 but usually a lot more), a pane of glass from an old entertainment center, some screws, and a corded power drill with some drill bits and hole cutters. So depending on what you already have and what you get elsewhere, from a hundred bucks to like $500?
This video is GREAT! Thanks for posting it. Now even more importantly, where can I get the song? I went online and found "Warm" and liked it very much also. Where is your music available for purchase? I LOVE this sound.
Wow this made me dizzy watching this. But hell buddy that is some work station. I have been meaning to sort all my stuff out and the desk i have is now far too small. Great video and an awesome desk. Nice One.
Very cool, both your desk and the video itself (not to mention the 3-point sharpshooting). I made my own treadmill desk two years ago and have been walking/working at it ever since (about 6 hrs/day at 1.2 mph and 7.0 incline). You may have inspired me to shoot a video about it. Based on my experience, tho, I'd think your lowered keyboard would cause elbow tendonitis over time. Have you experienced it? Kudos!
thats was awesome brothah, im building a desk for a school project and i reckon ur desk gives me a good idea of what it needs, how long did it take you too make it??
@jomacro4lyf Thanks! It took a few weeks' worth of daydreaming about how to make it, about a week of actual drawing it up (that is, I spent 20 minutes here and there for a week), and I think 3 days to actually build it. The 3 days were pretty intense, because I work from home and really had to get it set up by the time I had to get back to work on Monday!
@keykjokey When I make the new desk, sure! I'd actually probably sell it for like $40, just because as practical as it is, it's really pretty ugly! Cool, but ugly. Like the bad guy's ship in the new Star Trek movie.
Funny line about the star trek movie, but seriously $40 man you put so much time and thought into that project. Show them the vid before you sell it. Phewww!
very nice desk but i am building one too but i designed mine in a 3d program for product design and the reason i want a custom desk is because my desk is too cheaply made and small and newer big one are too expensive for what i need so i found some big 8'x4' mahogony board and im gonna cut the desk from those because i need it to give 2 23" apple monitors and 1 20" apple monitors and a mac pro a home
Sweet design, and I love that you considered mounting the two monitors. I have mine on a rack...got to wait until I'm out of a dorm room to do some actual building.
@JAScott2008 Yeah I made a enternainment center when i lived in an apartment and nearly got myself evicted. Turns out indoor powertools carry sound well :3
I'm thinking of doing a little corner desk in my house too, not as sophisticated as yours but your video inspired me to get off my rear and do it, great example you put up man thx.
I've made a few other time lapses, but none really came out. I'll probably put it together sometime.
The 2 LCD monitors are insanely handy when doing web design. I usually have my email open on one monitor (telling me what I'm doing) and the program in which I'm working (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc.) on the other.
Did the glass have a purpose or just to look cool?
