    What is the purpose of oxygen/nitrogen in a laser cutter?

  • its to blow the melted metal away.

    some gasses react with the metal that's why they use different gasses(to prevent it)

  • Oxygen and/or Nitrogen increase the cutting speed, particularly when cutting thinner material.

    Use of Oxygen & Nitrogen also raise the cutting efficiency of lower powered lasers -i.e, a 2kw Industrial laser can be made to cut at the rate of a 3kw laser by use of Oxygen/Nitrogen.

    There is less need to use supplementary gasses when cutting thicker materials.

    I want one!
