It was a chinese something tortoise lol. I own around 22 species of tortoises and all are friendly and never bite..unless they mistake you for food of course. My sulcatas do that alot and bite my toes but only because they think it's food then they let go once they realize it's not.

I remember about 45 years ago when I was a child there was a petting zoo at an amusement park here in Southern California called Knott's Berry Farm and Ghost Town. They had a giant tortoise that we could touch and even ride on. There was also a peccary. This was in the days when kids knew (more or less) how to behave themselves. Knott's was a cool place with just a few rides, a chicken dinner restaurant, a wild west show and a whole ghost town that was moved there from out in the desert.
