here's the final nail in your video; constellations don't play into it and they haven't been needed as reference points since Kepler. Clearly you are susceptible to labels. as part of our subjective state we experience phenomena like night and day because of the Sun's apparent motions, the fact that the earth technically revolves around the sun isn't of practical consideration.

There is nothing spiritual in nature about the zodiac predictions I find printed in my newspaper. In fact, there is nothing spiritual in nature about any book on astrology I've ever read.. everything is stated in a very matter-of-fact sort of way. I agree, newpaper astrology is bollocks. It deals only with solar astrology, which symbolises your goals. A more accurate picture comes when the moon and planets are concidered. Then there's house placement, and relations between planets. Your Sun sign can easily be overshadowed.

There has been a tendency lately to justfy spirituality by scientific means, which harms it in two ways. 'Average people' jump to hasty concusions, and serious people look down upon the whole thing.

And in any case, if you need some sort of way to visualize your personality, your traits, and your goals, why not look at something a little more reliable? Say, Meyers-Briggs tests? I feel like those personality tests that deal much more concretely with the lives of particular individuals are of *far* more use, and even of far more interest, than basing all of your predictions on the date that someone was born.

I'm not sure I understand your reasons to find symbolism silly. Mathematics is all about symbols, defind in a ridgid logical way. Astrology is much more bendable. So are the basic teachings of religions.

Religional symbolism, unfortunately, mostly is bent by religious leaders to control people, and promote intolerance. Astrology does no such thing, and seducted me this way. :D

Inspiration and mystery are basic needs of the human mind. That's why I agree, to tell people what to do, is not okay.

Well, in the meantime, I took the Myers-Briggs test. Appearently, I'm quite introverted and thinking. Sun Gemini, Moon Taurus is all I have to say. Sun in my case is afflicted by other planets, so it doesn't function as well as I'd like, but I'm working on that. :D

Anyway, I support these tests, and hope they will someday be of the depth astrology offers. Did you you know Karl Jung used it frequently in his therapies?

By the way, Namari12, it may be true that sun signs are vague but that is because there are many factors in the chart that alter the sign qualities. The moon Mercury and the ascendant alter much of your sun sign. I have Sun conjunct Mars and feel like Aries when I'm Cancer (read the rest in my first comment). If you create INDIVIDUAL CHARTS based on the time and place of birth and read it WITH COMBINED INTERPRETATIONS then out of the 10 only 1 will claim the chart is theirs.

Are you familiar with Vedic astrology? Probably not. For your info which you badly need they use ayanamsha which is the precession of the earth's axis. You use it to disprove astrology when in fact another astrological system is using it. As an astrologer I doubt that I am a retard. Besides even if in the tropical zodiac precession is not used it IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. The stars and the planets are merely symbols which reflect the human psyche and are not involved directly. Astrology has a close link with psychology. The only difference is a horoscope. Should we therefore also condemn psychologists? (Based on your argument that would be logical) The sun is the identity which is not easy to find because we are stuck with our ascendant which represents early conditioning.

The sun signs makes so much more sense to me than the norm astrology. I always thought I was more like a Gemini and not a Cancer despite my birth date in late June; very close to the borderline of the two signs. I have never been a big believer in astrology, though. Very simply, because the descriptions they give you could apply to just about anyone. For example, look at newspaper horoscopes-- those things could be interpreted to apply to anyone. Get 10 people of the same 'sign' who follow astrology together in the same room and compare their personalities; I'll wager they'll all be radically different in personality type, and every one will claim that sign fits them "perfectly"

You're a bit misinformed, but it was a pretty thoughtful vid. Western astrology uses the spring equinox to mark the beginning of the sign of Aries. You might want to look into sidereal astrologies like Indian Vedic, which continue to use the constellations.
