i-Mate JAQ Problem -- the 99999's

man i have this phone it makes me want to kill myself about 10 times a day. if you have get rid of it, if not stay away. i wish the "999" problem were the only problem i had but theres aout a million more problems. BEWARE

Guys, I had the same problem, but FOUND THE SOLUTION:

It is very simple to do:

1-open the housing

2-remove the mainboard carefully

3-look at the keypad board, there are 2 connectors in the top side that has holes for screws. THE PROBLEM IS HERE, these connectors are disturbing with static, so SIMPLY CUT THEM, don't let it touch the motherboar.

4-SOLVED! I tried this and worked like a charm! NO MORE 99999s!!

Hey everyone -- yeah, don't buy this phone. I sent it in to PocketPC techs ages ago but they still have it and it's not fixed. iMate acknowledges there is a problem but has no fix yet. I have had some emails from PocketPC techs on the issue -- but no resolution yet. I'll post when I know more.

the speaker isn't good, at least its not for t mobile. A bluetooth headset is a 100% necessary... Does anyone know how to setup the Internet on the phone please let me know

Is the call quality still good? Everyone says it sucks in the online reviews, but I can't imagine it's that bad... After all it doesn't take that much to make a good speaker.

I have exactly the same issue. And many other people do too! Did you get any response from imate?

The phone is at PocketPCTechs right now -- they are the US service center for i-Mate. Let's hope they can find the problem and fix it. I only used the phone a day before finding the problem and starting the warranty process.

The repair people say the normal turnaround is 2-3 days, so lets hope it really is.
