Kind of a strange hack, why do you say they must be ni-cd? When the OEM batteries in my similar norelco died about 5 years ago I desoldered them and replaced them with ni-mh of about 2000mah capacity, and there's been no negative issues at all.
@JAMESMAC442 It also may be useful if your battery in the shaver has worn out and you have choise: discard the shaver and buy a new one or replace the internal battery.
What about using some 2500 AA NiMh instead of NiCD? In theory, it should work

what is the point...rebuild the shaver to get a little more battery time???...lots of work for not much value..

What did you use to connect the positive and negative terminals of the batteries to each other? A bridge of solder?
