This is the only game I saw in Yankee Stadium. I stood before the game in the stands along 1st base and looked at the ground there thinking that this was the spot where Lou Gehrig stood valiantly year after year, game after game as he became a legend. When Derek tied the record I took a picture of the scoreboard at 5:30 thinking he would surely not try to break it since the season was almost over. Wouldn't it have been a more noble honor to be beside Gehrig in the record book than above him?
