Yes, the business environment has changed for the USPS. But, you have to adapt. The Postal Service still has a monopoly on letters, that is huge. I think the USPS lost almost 5 billion in 2009, this is insane. Get with the times, do the following: Go to 401k or IRA'S-defined contribution plans, not defined benefits. Do like everyone else, get rid of the BS retiree health care obligation. Congress needs to let the Usps have more flexibilty in pricing, less losses on mail, price mail for profit.

just wanted to add another comment about USPS Priority mail somewhere that will be viewed by thousands. Their tracking is worthless, it's not guaranteed 2-3 days in transit, and they lose packages constantly and will take no recourse they lose it. If you have anything of value, please do not ship via Priority Mail.

@I3eam I have never had bad service from the USPS...but I have from UPS. I've spent many days sitting on my ass for Big Brown to deliver a package that needed to be signed for. I would much rather have had the option to go about my business and picked it up at a local Post Office.

Nah, my mum has sent cookies and cheese to my sis in Japan from the US via USPS, and they're fine :D

Plus, with flat-rate boxes, you can jam them full of stuff and not have to pay by weight (aka heavy things like bike tools, socket wrench, hard drive)—it's quite a bit cheaper.

I am an eBay Sellers and its cheaper to me to ship all items in one box. I have shipping costs calculated based on weight. Go with just one box.
