  • The refugees wear white shirts.

  • how can you say that HL2 is the original....that make you sound like a n00b....if you play hlaf life 1....ONE.....all you questions will be answered...n00b...

  • You are funny as shit. I wish i could subscribe on ipod but i can still watch your vids

  • Did you ever play HL1? You get to see several occasions on the zombies feeding on people, making them genuinely scary, despite them being even less dangerous than in HL2.

There's also at least 2 places (early in the game) where you can see the morph, and it is shown that the people are most likely dead, knocked out, or in some way paralysed. It's also evident there that the process is relatively slow through these (despite you walking into a zombie at the very start, which doesn't make sense)

  • 3:32 makes me laugh like every time

  • Jalyss... Have my fucking babies, OK? You rock... period... :D

  • Everyone makes one basic mistake... It is in fact possible to see an infestation occur, believe it or not, but only in one level, as near as I can tell. During level 2(when you first encounter the head crabs and zombies, or at least are required to) if you rush to somewhere you can see the exit before killing the nearby enemies, one or two headcrabs will kill and infest one of the NPCs. I've only pulled it off once, mostly because I never again cared to see it. It was very disturbing.

  • The spot where you first have a headcrab pod hit near you, specifically. I may be wrong about the exact methodology I employed to see it, because as I recall I managed to get lost, and was forced to kill dozens of headcrab zombies. It was sometime during this process I saw the infestation. I have, as I said, never attempted to see it since.

  • 4:47 - Exactly, thus the reason the Combine uses them as a biological weapon. Unfortunately, you could only see them infest a victim in the first Half-Life game. Otherwise, fast zombies ARE STILL FUCKING SCARY!

  • I have a question for you, why is it that there seems to be a max number of around 7 different kinds of people who aren't important story characters in the game? Black Guy, Black Girl, Asian Guy, White Girl 1, White Girl 2, White Guy 1 and White Guy 2. And those people are just repeated to infinity for the whole game to essentially fill minor story placement and act as cannon fodder. If Valve spent 6 years on this game you'd think they'd have more than 7 people to act as filler.

  • @RabidKanid They had to remake most of the game in a year after a big code leak, IIRC.

  • @Izayoiaki24 So this game could have been better (and I could have actually liked it since I don't in it's current state) but some cock eyed bastard leaked the code and they were forced to essentially start from scratch?

  • @RabidKanid They spent 4 years on Half-Life 2, which is still comprehensible if we take into account that they coded a second game engine from the ground up. I mean, even with the updates, it's still the source engine that is used by all their games, not to mention all the mods.

  • @BlinkingBulbStudios I was told it was 6 years the game was in development.

  • ... still... CRABYS!

  • Incorrect. Half Life 3 would change the math so there would be 3 half lives which makes it 1.5 lives. This also makes it another trilogy that has god forsaken names when they try to tack on new games such as "Halo Reach." What are they reaching for?

Since they are now going to have spaceships that would make me think that they are reaching "for the stars" but that's wrong too. Especially since Halo 2 starts and ends in Space.

    I digress.

  • so...eas the comic canceled? there are no updates since october 2009...

  • ive seen them infest people on the playstation 3 version of the orange box they just never infest you and the grenade toting ones have different clothes than the the other ones and they charge at you and try to kill you with the grenade that they hold which must mean they were suicidal but didnt want the player to kill them they wanted to die killing us apparently

  • Haha wow. I did the exactly the same thing. You've actually just made me remember that I also have half life and team fortress. XD

  • i agree that they go to gap to get the official headcrab uniform

  • in half life 1 they eat ... but i never saw a single one eating in half life 2

  • Why, why did she not make something about Team Fortress 2 :`(

  • That was absolutely brilliant.

  • That was hilarious, I as is everything else you throw out there.

  • actually:

1)headcrabs tend to harm you so bad till you get weak to finally grab your head

2)they wear white because most of them came from Ravenholm(where they had to wear white)

3)They ARE eating the people`s brain(or something like that)

4)they lay on the floor waiting to harm someone then leave it for some headcrab come and get it

5)still,ppision headcrabs tend to harm leaving them vunarable for more of them(so does the fast ones)

    Explained???

    Hope you understand : )

  • PS:you should Check the "We Don`t go to Ravenholm" Chapter

  • nerd

  • i prefer the term player since 3 years old

  • Poison Headcrabs! The screech, the screen flashing as your health drops to 1, your suit telling you that death is (kinda) imminent, although not imminent enough to interrupt your suit telling you so. The tense seconds as you wait to recover. It all usually leads to a lot of grenades being tossed at any room that -might- have an infestation of the horrible malcontents.

  • lol the suicidal monster bit was funny

  • yea but they could of not given them retarded names and just gone 1,2,and 3.I know thats how I count

  • Alright, suicidal monsters are ALWAYS funny!

  • lol i never get a christmas sweter my grandparents give me $

  • dat made me go lol

  • starfleet ensign expendable smart joke lol

  • Still Alive was written by Jonathan Coulton, not Coulter :p

  • Pure gold.

The zombies in the original Half Life were much more ghoulish looking and slightly more dangerous from what I remember. The HL1 zombies were quite scary for a bit, and a geniune threat for most of the game, but in HL2 they're... useless. They're big wandering clowns of enemies, as are the Combine when compared to the Marines of HL1 which were efficient and again DANGEROUS. Nearly all of HL1's original threats were dumbed down in HL2 to some degree and the game just isn't as fun. :(

  • @bigwhiteyeti not exactly.i agree that in HL1 they were downright scary.but in half-life 2 they are much more gory-looking and pop out of random places.

then there are the zombies that carry those poison headcrabs are not common or at all fatal.BUT they pop out in the SCARIEST places and look gruesome, gory, scray, etc.

  • @bigwhiteyeti THANKYOU, someone else noticed.

  • Uh, there are people with white shirts and blue jeans.

  • Not only that but in Half Life 2, the only actual place you see the head crab zombies in a large mass was Ravenholm, which was a refugee village, the refugees where blue jeans and white shirts. And HOW THE CRAP DO YOU SEE A PENIS where there are PANTS in the way!

  • I am crying, that's how good this is.

  • I couldn't actualy stop laughing when you got up to the headcrab thing.

  • I'm a new immigrant to Canada. That put, I've never even noticed the GAP stores before that video. Now every time I walk by one, I can't help but check from a safe distance if there's any headcrab zombie inside.

  • Well... the clothing comment seems to pan out in, oh, every zombie game I can think of (which is really just House of the Dead #1-#4). But then, that also goes as far as appearance and areas of rot/decay.

Still, just found the comic and all its awesomeness, so I'm happy.

  • I think you better play Half Life 2 again, if you actually played it in the first place. Not far into the game, you witness a rebel being infected with a headcrab, thus turning him into a zombie.

  • There is a short scripted sequence behind a closed fence when you first see a headcrab shell land. A headcrab zombie model struggles with the headcrab on its head and eventually collapses.

I don't count this as witnessing an actual infestation though because you don't see the person without a headcrab on, you don't see any transformation occur, and (unless I'm mistaken) it does not get back up to try to attack you.

  • I distinctly remember it being a citizen model, and it breaking the fence and attacking the player. I may be wrong though.

  • I went back and had a look. You're right, it is a citizen model, but he has the headcrab on his head the entire time.

And despite my valiant attempts to get the headcrab to get up and attack me, he never did.

  • Even better than the first one! Also, does your voice modulator translate as well? I can clearly hear the words, "Muchas gracias" as it is warming up at the start.

  • A voice modulator is a program that alters the sound of your voice when you speak into a microphone, all it is doing is giving me a slightly robotic and hollow sound to my voice.

I believe you are thinking of a voice synthesizer, because for my voice modulator to produce spanish, I would have to speak spanish.

  • Very "Zero Punctuation"-ish

That's where you got the idea, right? :P

It's still very good though :O

  • My first video gives due credit to Yahtzee as a source of inspiration, although he was one of several different influences.

  • Zombies are fashion freaks (hate them xD) Nuff said.

PS- And fashion freaks are ussaly retarded ppls so that explains why they dont give a shit about walking thorugh toxic acid near explosive barrles on fire near sawblades, etc.

Ohh and they are male, well, because they wont make the lad unsexy, atleast rape them to dead first. That was all ;)

  • I think headcrabs were bred for the express purpose of zombifying Homer Simpson, but were ultimately unsuccessful in this pursuit. On a related note, did you know headcrabs are delicious?

  • Interestingly, the original version of this script had a picture of Homer Simpson with a headcrab pasted over him standing for the "three point inspection" describing every zombie, I'm not entirely sure at what point that got cut from the script though, I suddenly wish I had left it in.

  • Actually, there is an explanation why all zombies wear the same clothes. It's because all people wear the same clothes too. The white shirt is white people wear under their blue jumpsuit.

  • Interesting theory with some merit... do you have evidence supporting this?

  • Yes, just look closely at citizens. The white shirt is visible.

  • You're right, they DO have a white undershirt. But interestingly enough... so do the zombies.

At very least this is the first bit of evidence supporting some thought out consistency.

  • This is comedy gold from start to finish.

  • But...the orange box is only one box...the games are all on one disk

  • It was given to me through Steam, So there were actually no boxes at all. The description of ignoring them was only metaphorical

  • One of the few vids that force me to laugh. Truly amazing.

Although, in HL1 the zombies are seen eating some humans, but...

Forget it I'll just shut up :P

  • Zombies eat through that large slit that opens up on their chest. They eat dead human parts, by picking them up and puting them into there chest

Funny that Zombies are all the same, and wear odd shirt and pants combo, and are all male. Guess Valve went cheap on us

And that none of the actual head crabs infest anyone in front of you. though this was seen a couple times in the Original Half life, the infestation process takes a long time, they only do small damage to you for balance reasons.

  • Is there any point in the game that a zombie is shown eating anything? If there is I didn't catch it.

Or is this another of those things I missed out on by not playing Half Life 1?

  • Zombies in HL1 eat dead scientists and even you, if you die.

  • Actually in the AntiCitizen One chapter, I had died, screen went black and I heard loud chomping noises, damn poison headcrabs...it was either a glitch or I got eaten

  • When you were all "wait a second, they're exactly the fucking same!" It sounded as though the voice changy thingy had an epic dose of lose and fail.

I couldn't tell you if it were true, but that's what it sounds like.

    Oh, and epic win!

  • The voice modulator actually did not change, that is what my normal voice sounds like through the modulator when I'm not doing my robot impression, I only stopped doing the speak-and-spell voice for that line for comedic effect

  • Wonderfully funny!

Of course, you will get the inevitable game "nerd" commenter who misses the point and proceeds to give a detailed explanation about things you overlooked/misunderstood -- as in your BioShock video. :)

Nice work -- I hope to see a lot more of Jalyss in the future!

  • I died laughing, heaven has computers.

  • x3 Paper of detail!
