Gurren Lagann is funny, moving, epic and absolutely awesome.

I recognize that I was too harsh with Code Geass.

I was very disappointed by this anime because a lot of people told me that Code Geass was a masterpiece, and finally, I didn't like it at all.

The draws and the animation are great, but I didn't like the characters, the musics and the story. But yes, you're right, It's not an abomination, I exaggerated.

The romance was good, action wasn't. and the chess thing was a horrid excuse to replace any actual combat "strategy", which to mention, seems that it's often a case of dumb opponents... paired with a bunch of "it's a trap!" scenes

Code Geass does get better around chapter 10-ish, but that's a long time

I have to say, it's been a really long time since I've seen an anime this amazing. I love the story, and the characters, and the animation. I love everything about it. I laugh, cry and feel anger with the characters. Which is rare in a show these days. Gurren Lagann is hands down my favorite anime. Period. I do not say that lightly, either.

This anime makes makes other anime look like crap! This has has straight-to-the-point speeches and action with no 30 episode fillers/recaps of an episode you just saw and long ass back stories and talking after 30 sec. of fighting, or explaining how characters are able to use abilities (Chakra anyone?) in almost every freakin episode! (DBZ, Naruto, etc)

Every second is enjoyable and doesn't leave you bored. Kick reason to the curb and watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!!!

Every character and their inspirational speeches really touch home. And the director (Hiroyuki Imaishi) really seems to care for these individuals, as whenever something goes wrong and they find themselves in some sort of life-threating situation, the viewer is always rest assured that they somehow will always pull through no matter what, and Imaishi always makes sure of that. It's in their epic adventure that we get to know these people and come to like them and for that it is a true epic.

I posted a comment way back when I was actually hesitant to give this show a chance, since it seemed a bit over-hyped. Upon finishing it, here I am to add my two cents:

As many have repeated incessantly, this anime cannot be called anything less than an epic, and it is not an epic because it looks flashy, or the giant-robot battles, and not even because of how it goes beyond logical reasoning. It's because it's engrossing and compelling. What can top this as the best anime of 2007 at this point?
