I'm for it! No different from Social Security(actually an expansion of social security),and mandatory car insurance(so,I am sort of suspicious of the reason for certain states demanding a law suit). It actually protects and concentrates on a MORAL imperative for the aging section of our population. Overall,MORAL obligations versus Corporate entity! Yes,it's a LAW. Nancy Pelosi's tweet congressional map should be looked at and compared with the Law(Bill). The Health insurance companies are wrong.
Well actually 3. The other factors: 4) What the Professor had said and if its in the Bill 5) The U.S. Constitution is a naturally progressive document which means it evolves with the times(Spirit of the Constitution). 5 factors while I read it.
I will NOW read the Health Bill online. I will factor 2 things as I read it: 1) Defense spendingor budget has to be REDUCED or CUT! 2) The National deficit. 3) The U.S. Constitution.
Cut defense spending! Cut defense spending! give room to deal with the deficit. Then some parts of the Health Care will then have room for POSITIVE changes. I am thinking the Health Bill will have to be the last thing as soon as significant parts of the defense budget is cut and then the deficit and/or Health care together.
America should adopt the same healthcare system as Britain. The British love the NHS, and to be honest, not even having to think about "am I going to afford this life-threatening surgery" when in hospital is a blessing.
hard to believe that a professor of medicine and economist could describe problems for those currently insured, when it is the opposite, currently even insured people can be deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. The new law limits the excesses of insurance companies over the sick insured population. As a professor he should be better informed before making this analysis.
@imaginetheresno, @gravityisweak: Enjoyed the comments. Healthcare works in other countries because cost is under control, and maybe, just maybe, costs are under less adulterated market influence (ironically) abroad. US phama and doctor lobbies are huge. Plus culture is focused and rewards a cures rather than preventions. Insurance companies have not served their customers by helping to cut costs. It's the 3-headed monster that is phara-AMA-insurance. The bill only redistributes profits.
It's just a growing pain. Would you rather pay taxes for injured on welfare who WANT to work...or pay for Healthcare so that they CAN work and put back into the system? It's really a NO BRAINER! It works in Canada, the U.K. , France, Australia...........
@imaginetheresno it works? Where do you live? I've lived in Canada and the US and god help us if our healthcare ends up like Canada's. Canadians come to the states all the time so they dont have to wait months or years to get treatment.
@gravityisweak FYI Top Priorities DO NOT wait. People who go to the States feel they ARE a priority. I guess you figure paying hand over fist for a Healthcare Plan...and then fingers crossed they accept you when you DO need them is better? How many pay and THEN are denied, or held up in the courts? That's NO way to be treated (and DO injoy the pun!).
@imaginetheresno The only problem with that, is that the government decides what is a top priority and what isn't. I don't want any government making decisions about what part of my health is a priority. That isn't what government responsibilities are. I don't think turning socialist is the way to build a better country.
@gravityisweak FYI NO ONE has died waiting THEIR TURN for care in Canada. Alas, quite a few HAVE died in America because their Insurance Provider DROPPED them (due to policy holder's medical needs cutting into their profits) and the others did so by waiting for the courts to decide that the Insurance SHOULD. THAT's the Health Care you want? You're welcome to it! You'll rue the day when YOU are denied my naive little friend. I'll bet my LAST dollar you THEN go to Cuba to be taken care of.
@imaginetheresno People get sick and die of disease. You may not like that fact but its a part of life and can happen to anybody. Just because someone has insurance doesn't mean their life is worth millions of dollars in medical treatment. Especially if its treatment they cant afford on their own. Call me biased but I have a job and have to pay quite a bit for my own insurance. I don't appreciate being taxed even more money to have to chip in for someone elses.
How will this bill affect health care employees, particularly nurses and nursing aides, x-ray technicians and other hourly paid employees. Will this bill affect our income. There are many health care employees against this bill for fear of pay-cuts.
wow this was very much like a usual weak news report ...
what about the fact that for many people insurance will become actual insurance and not a "maybe" depending on the insurer's will not to f*ck with you?
omg this health bill sounds horrible . . . im pretty sure most of that was the republican additions to the bill. a public option would save everyone money. expanding medicare would save everyone money.

i am willing to pay higher taxes for a cause like health care. I think it's horrible that people are destroyed for lack of medical treatment
