The term slumdog is maybe a reference to the traditional view of India with it's caste system. as in if you are born in the slums you will stay there no matter what , but are the new skyscrapers emerging supposed to mean the breaking of that mindset & a sign of a new Indian way of thinking ? Slum "dog" is just a term. the title was meant to say that their lives aren't good and compared to the life of a dog from the slums but it did not CALL them a dog. Slum "dog" is just a term. the title was meant to say that their lives aren't good and compared to the life of a dog from the slums but it did not CALL them a dog. The poverty level shown in the movie is completely true and the title fits, not the people, but their living condition.

the slums in Inda a real, i were adopted from India. I was picked up from the slum as well, and my brother is some where in the slums too, i dont know. But i love the movie. All the bollywoods movie never shows a poor side of india, and that kind of annoyed me. But this is the best movie i've ever seen

I am an indian, I watch many indian films. This is the first indian film I've seen that is associated with Hollywood. I thought the film was great. What if there had been an Indian director instead of a British one? Do you think that would have changed anything? I don't. This film was based on a book written by an INDIAN author, so it's pretty authentic to me.
