The problem I have with DS Spamming is that sometimes, he starts attacking when I'm about to do my next DS, and I run out of OL when I have to start over. Another problem is that I do one DS too many and he gets attacked while he's playing Whacky-Flailing-Inflatable-Arm-Tube-Man.
I have issues with this and I have fought him over 12 times and everytime my characters are on a custom defend where they keep their distance from him do not move or heal so in reality its a 1 vs 1 fight. Everytime I fight him I do this his mystic arte goes off and he has never staggered or anything. He shows no sign of his mystic arte ever trying wearing him like the vid. I have let the arte hit me loads of times and still nothing. I don't understand please assist. I still recommend this vid.
I'm following this method right, but all that happens when I use Destruction Field on overlimit is activate the red Fatal Strike instead. He won't stun or anything! I'm even using the right weapon! What am I doing wrong? D:
Finally, after several attempts, I managed to find what went wrong when I tried to use this method. The thing is, if you want to easily break his defense, change the difficulty. DON'T USE the half, quarter and minimum damage skill. If you turn these skills on, you will have a hard time breaking his defense as it takes a lot of damage to break it, not how many hit you got on him. And spam destruction field like in this vid. He will then stagger, and use hourglass. Overlimit raven and spam Rain!

This went from being redico-hard to being super easy.
Yeager just doesn't stumble. I break his guard, then he just keeps attacking like normal. Or if he stumbles, it's for 0.0000000000000000000000000000001 of a second. How the fuck am I supposed to time that shit? What the fuck?
hey everyone , if you wanna KEEP attacking him or even a regular monster , & if you don't know this little trick , use Shining Dragon Swarm then before it ends keep pressing for Shining Fang , it's a good combo :D
@Absilon9Zero I would edit one of your commands and put "defend" for all of the characters (I believe the defend command originally has them down as "assist") and keep distance, also yeah those character specific commands only last for a short while then they start using the default command again -.-
I just can't seem to get the positioning right, I'm on try 24 as of now, and I'm on damn easy mode. I can easily beat him, I just can't get raven to be where I need him to be or he chases after Estelle instead of Yuri....time for lucky number 25 I guess...

I did that with Zagi and the boat. I got sick of him not getting in the water, so I said fuck it. After I gave up and just beat him he flew off the side of the boat.
thanks a lot for the method... although it's easier if you made yeager chase yuri WHILE controlling him and when he get's exhausted.. hit him with rain , i think it works anywhere you hit him as long as it's just rain and it hits

Having him bait Yuri into chasing after him is great. Since he'll stop to pause himself holding his chest. That's your chance, doesn't even have to be shot in front of him logically, just as long as the move hits him it'll work out.
I'm so P.O'ed i can't keep people away from him because yeager doesn't go after me just my allies even when they're set for distance, and when He doesn't, I just even up killing him. Ughh....

I noticed something (I'm too lazy to read all the comments): I hit him 5 times in a row with Destruction field before he collapsed. I noticed that the player here did it 3 times with something else. My problem was that in the mids of hitting him, he'd hit me and ruin my attack.
After hitting him 5 times with destruction field, he collapsed and I waited until he stood up and then when he stood by me, I was already switched to raven and hit him with rain once.
i just like to add a little something that some people are not sure off. this IS not as hard to pull off as some might think.. now i have not read all posts, so im not sure if anyone allready said this. But if you can just break his guard with the spamm of destruction field untill he keels over abit. Just backoff with everyone for a sec, as he starts to move again he is gona stop and hold his hand over his heart. and THATS the time to just use a Rain on him. and DONE! ^^
For anyone still having issues with this one. the easiest method by far is the Destruction Field, hourglass. That will allow you to get ready with raven when he runs at whoever. If you spam Rain while he is frozen hey will explode and could kill him before you get the achievement.
Had a little trouble with the AI, so just took control of Raven and spammed Rain the whole fight. Worked just as well, with much less fuss. ;D Your strategy definitely works though, no doubt about that. But for those with short patience concerning AI, I say just go for this method. :3

YES!!!! Make sure that Raven is using RAIN and not RAINSONG!!! I tried this over 10 times and couldn't get Raven's arrows to fly through Yeager after I spawned Destruction Filed on him. Deselected Crucible from the Skills, and BAM!! Got it in one hit, as simple as...salad!! = D

For those of you who are able to get him into the staggered position but can't break his defense with Rain:
You may want to double check if you are actually using Rain, and not Rainsong.
TO DISABLE RAINSONG: DISABLE THE SKILL "CRUCIBLE"!!!!
This is very important!! I spent 5 hours trying this method until I realized that I was using Rainsong instead of Rain! After disabling Crucible, I got it in one try!
I hope this helps those of you who suffered like I did...

I'm annoyed now at just how EASY that was to do when I tried this method (thank you, thank you, thank you so very much). Lost count of how many times I tried and failed. I never realised that Rain had to be done on a second stagger, and not the first, since that's what everything else I'd seen about this made it seem like.
You need a Moon Selector (You can craft one REALLY early on in the game, and I believe you get one from one of the Secret Missions, that might be the Flag though.) And when you're in battle, go to the Menu, and press Start.
be sure not to use rainsong :/ happened to me and after i turned off some arts, it was actually the normal "rain" attack again and after that it worked on my first try ... wasted an hour with rain song <.<

I got him to grab his chest by guard breaking him once and guard breaking him again with a fatal strike before he did yet another CARRESS OF DEATH. Right after his guard broke a second time, and I mean right after, I customized everyone's strategies to DEFEND so they wouldn't attack him. I waited in front of him and a couple of seconds later, he finally held his heart blastia. Then I hit him with Raven's RAIN atre. I was trying other methods when I used this one. Took me four tries, jeeze.
Hi there, I've been able to do everything fine except get Yuri to run back. How do I make Yuri run back like you did? I was tinkering with the strategies such as "Auto" "Manual" ect, nothing seems to work. Can someone please tell me the exact strategy set up for this method?
Sorry for the double post but also make sure when your doing the destruction fields that you dont hit him again after he hops and the shield is broken. He wouldnt stagger for me i did an extra dustruction field for some reason.
Yeah I tried this and it wasn't working... Come to find i had ravens arte changed to Rainsong. Make sure you turn off all the skills like crucible, dispersion, etc on him before the battle... Other than that this works perfectly.

For the umpteenth time, No. All that needs to be done is to set a strategy. The AI isn't the best at escaping, but they do enough to not ruin the mission.
Its impressive how hard it is to get 5gs and how many people want to do this secret mission. I do aswell, but i haven't go this far in the game though. I will try to get there this weekend.
I know that you said that sometimes he doenst stagger after running after yuri... but he never staggered with me!! I already tried 15 times, broke his guard but he doesnt stagger, what am i doing wrong?

How do you make people not move? Only rita seems to not move, while estelle and raven soemtimes come in and attack.

and every time im still in a combo
i have raven use rain about every second, but it always hits too early or too late or it misses

its not working for me
1) estelle wont hold distance even as i set her on heal only turn off all attack artes
2) my shots from raven are always blocked by a blue shield that wont shatter
i just stopped playing tales of vesperia
sucks that you can set strategies, but they dont work
and sucks that they implemented such a no skill much luck mission

I having trouble with this. I got him to guard and started spamming Destruction Field but started attacking again before his guard even broke :(

Thanks for the vid guy, just knowing he would restun himself was a HUGE help (i tried using an hourglass to get position with raven but it didn't break through, idk if you can do it while hes stopped?) Anyway ended up getting him with a non stopped shot, thanks again and keep up the good work.

many thanks for this one, had been trying overlimit o Raven and spamming Rain from a distance with no luck over about 4 goes.
Not a hard boss but was a pain getting the SM. first try using this method :D

For those of you who are able to get him into the staggered position but can't break his defense with Rain:
You may want to double check if you are actually using Rain, and not Rainsong.
TO DISABLE RAINSONG: DISABLE THE SKILL "CRUCIBLE"!!!!
This is very important!! I spent 5 hours trying this method until I realized that I was using Rainsong instead of Rain! After disabling Crucible, I got it in one try!
I hope this helps those of you who suffered like I did...

i found this method to be the most effective out of all the ones ive seen on youtube
this is as close to a guarantee that youre going to get
if raven isnt positioned right, you still have a few seconds to get him there, and having him in semi-auto is extremely important
also, if you use destruction field one time to many its still salvageable

I'm annoyed now at just how EASY that was to do when I tried this method (thank you, thank you, thank you so very much). Lost count of how many times I tried and failed. I never realised that Rain had to be done on a second stagger, and not the first, since that's what everything else I'd seen about this made it seem like.

You need a Moon Selector (You can craft one REALLY early on in the game, and I believe you get one from one of the Secret Missions, that might be the Flag though.) And when you're in battle, go to the Menu, and press Start.

be sure not to use rainsong :/ happened to me and after i turned off some arts, it was actually the normal "rain" attack again and after that it worked on my first try ... wasted an hour with rain song <.<

I got him to grab his chest by guard breaking him once and guard breaking him again with a fatal strike before he did yet another CARRESS OF DEATH. Right after his guard broke a second time, and I mean right after, I customized everyone's strategies to DEFEND so they wouldn't attack him. I waited in front of him and a couple of seconds later, he finally held his heart blastia. Then I hit him with Raven's RAIN atre. I was trying other methods when I used this one. Took me four tries, jeeze.

I did it ! He started chasing after Estellise so i hit him in the back as he was catching his breath but it still worked :)

Hi there, I've been able to do everything fine except get Yuri to run back. How do I make Yuri run back like you did? I was tinkering with the strategies such as "Auto" "Manual" ect, nothing seems to work. Can someone please tell me the exact strategy set up for this method?

Sorry for the double post but also make sure when your doing the destruction fields that you dont hit him again after he hops and the shield is broken. He wouldnt stagger for me i did an extra dustruction field for some reason.

Yeah I tried this and it wasn't working... Come to find i had ravens arte changed to Rainsong. Make sure you turn off all the skills like crucible, dispersion, etc on him before the battle... Other than that this works perfectly.

For the umpteenth time, No. All that needs to be done is to set a strategy. The AI isn't the best at escaping, but they do enough to not ruin the mission.

I know that you said that sometimes he doenst stagger after running after yuri... but he never staggered with me!! I already tried 15 times, broke his guard but he doesnt stagger, what am i doing wrong?

Yeah i'm doing the battle for the fourth time now and i've gone through 3 whole overlimit bars of destruction field and his block survives the whole thing... let it be noted that it IS on unknown but still 3 bars? wtf

Okay if anyone can't do this mission after seeing this video, they should sell their copy of Tales of Vesperia and play Hello Kitty. I did it after 2 tries. It was easier than knocking Zagi off the boat.
