A friend of mine died of ALS, and had this played at his funeral/memorial. the song was so much like him, I remember it so well. This man I am talkin about was without disease, a marathoner, bicyclist, mega go getter. He said when he got to the point when he couldnt eat or drink himself, he wouldnt do anything to prolong his life, and he didnt. whenever i hear crash test dummies, he is in my mind, and i bet he hears it!!!
Making sense.....Neil Young's WATCHTOWER videography following a cliffside trail,, as with Ben Stiller's footage on Letterman. "I've have life measuared Life measured in coffee spoons", as though the value every step~ facing fear, making their days and afternoons count. Yesterday, on Law and Order, the darker side sidee of coffee spoons as he confessed to disappointment and corruption. Read the poem, can't really come away with a clear context yet.
@ themotorbyclist - T. S. Eliot is not just a random writer, but the one whose poem they are referencing repeatedly in this song. The particular poem is "The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock." Read it, and then listen to the song again.
i love how i look up their songs i love and the videos are completely opposite of what i imagined...even give the opposite feeling. it's interesting, but it destroys the image I had, ya know?
@nikotwasik are they? Mitch came to my school today and he said he was touring with the band this year.. Hes an awesome guy btw ;P got his automagraph :P
@nikotwasik I just saw them in Portland in I think it was May 2010. They are still together. This particular song is funny. My neighbor and I always refer to it when he wears his pajamas when we drive to get coffee. "Pajamas in the daytime!" Just a fun song.

I use to sing to this whole album when I'd drive, actually I still do. I was told I could sing CTD good, I'll take that as a compliment. Not that I have a deep voice like Brad. Do any of you still live in Winnipeg? I used to see you guys at Polo Park or biking down Osbourne.
Such a memorable album! Definitely one of the best of the 90's.

Really like this album. Who is T. S. Elliot he refers to?
themotorbyclist 1 year ago
He's a writer. Like Hunter S. Thompson. The crash test dummies are from here in Winnipeg Manitoba. Canada. The band is broken up now.

Hehe..
Awesome song.
Does anyone know where I can get the guitar and/or bass tabs for it?
Brad plays with a capo but I can't tell which fret it's on.

Very awesome song. Always makes me happy when I'm depressed.
Anyway, here is the piano/guitar/vocal sheet music for the whole album which it is from:
h t t p : / / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / l y n n c t d / C T D /
(I scanned it in last year.) For tabs try:
h t t p : / / w w w . e - c h o r d s . c o m / t a b s . a s p ? i d a r t i s t = 1 2 9 5
Or just google ' "afternoons and coffeespoons" "guitar tabs" '.
