However, more and more korean went across the boundary line and caused very serious social problems ( Some North korean soldier even tried to rob a bank). It really made the chinese and the government angry. Now, you went to some villages close to North korea, you could find some specil equipments. I am a Chinese and I fell sorry for the little girl and her family.(I am very happy they were released finally.) I think who we should comdem is Kim Jong Il, Not Chinese Gov. Chinese gov has the responsibilities to protect the foreign embassies and consulates. But also Chinese gov should think about how to protect these poor people in a better way.

Are you saying that US presence in South Korea is more of an atrocity than North Korea's treatment of its citizens? Politics aside, I think the human rights violations constitute a much more appalling atrocity than anything else.
If the US pulls out of SK we'll just have a repeat of the Korean War. The massive return of American soldiers prior to the Korean War triggered the war by giving the North the incentive to invade the South.

One could argue that stopping the spread of communism IS "helping the people". We could argue back and forth about the US's true intent during the war, but I believe communism is wrong and leads to corrupt dictatorships and broken countries.

The North attacked the South with the intent of bringing the South under communistic rule, and in my mind "helping the people" means saving them from such a terrible fate. Left to their own, the South could very well be like the North today. And by no one's definition is North better off than the South - economically or socially.

That's not true. Kim Il-Sung asked the Russians for permission to invade the South. The Russians didn't want a war, but later gave him permission to invade because they thought he might be able to win. Had the U.S. not stepped in with a U.N. alliance of 16 countries, the North would have unified the country and made the whole peninsula what North Korea is today. Get your facts straight buddy.

They were North Korean refugees who escaped into China. However, China does not give asylum to North Koreans, so the North Koreans in this video were trying to enter the Japanese embassy who would give them asylum and then transfer them to South Korea for a new and free life.

I know that a good portion of the South Koreans have become Christian nutcases. I used to be a buddhist myself. But once I have found that path there is no way back. I'm just following a different route than buddhist dogmatism. It amazes me. Fundies claim respect from other while they burn down buddhist temples. As a buddhist, I cannot do other than shake my head. But if they should come to a philosophical clinch with me, they will loose. Like NKs, few of them would have ideas of their own.

I just saw this video and was previously totally unaware of North Korea's plight.
Initially, I was really angry at China for returning the refugees (I still am). However, it's important to remember that the North Koreans are fleeing from a horrific life. North Korea's government should really be in the spotlight. In addition, it's important to look at the UNHCR's role in this. According to the video they've done nothing, which is very disturbing.

The woman was already behind the fence. But because there wasn't someone watching from the Japanese embassy, Chinese soldiers just pulled her back. If the Japanese put up a guard or something to watch, they wouldn't dare to pull her back.
