It's simple. I reckon 99% of drivers obey traffic lights, probably 100% of cyclists obey traffic lights, they just mount the pavement and drive across at the pedestrians light at green along with the pedestrians, if it's also at red then cyclists can always ignore them if there's a gap in the normal traffic and drive off pavement at other side of junction.
ANY CYCLIST WHO SAYS THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN IS ONLY KIDDING THEMSELF ON. IT IS A FACT.
yes and in another video, you created a dangerous situation for yourself and then shouted obscenities before calling a woman driver, ` A Fat Cow !`. The poor woman had done nothing andf was trying to converse in a civil way and you acted like a yob. If you want other people to respect you, you need to learn to respect other people.
When did it become legal for cyclists to cycle on pavements. There is nothing gets my goat up more than a grown adult cycling along the pavement. Why don`t you make a video showing all the cyclists that are a hazard to pedestrians.
Hold on a minute, on another video you said I should cycle on the pavement! Make your mind up! LOL! Anyway, feel free to point out wheh I am on a pavement. Is your eyesight failing you...?
Sometimes it's difficult to imagine the mind-set of some drivers who are little more than trained monkeys. Add to that time pressure, the petrol-fuelled testosterone rush, the red mist resulting from a cyclist impugning their manhood by daring to overtake them [or just happening to exist] and we have a new menace on the road.
Large companies like Amey take seriously dangerous driving of their drivers, although you might never hear anything back, they will rain down their paranoia of being sued etc on the drivers.
Too many company car/van drivers drive their vehicles like they don't care. Some extend this to how they drive too. Maybe they feel they have some kind of corporate protection... "its okay, my multi million £ company has good lawyers and will defend my driving no matter what".
Hardly name and shame. Honestly, who gives a fuck if someones car is on youtube running a red light. The quality of this helmet cam is so poor that you couldnt make out if a "dim" green filterlight was on, which it almost always is anyway. I know that road.
I don't jump red lights, I use them to rest on my journey. Those cyclists who say I can't be bothered to wait at a red light cos it involves a long wait (of what around a minute max), other road users have to wait at them and so should you.
And importantly they willingly submitted to the process of applying for a licence and registering their vehicle. This is how they unwittingly gave their consent to be governed by the rules of the Road Traffic Act. I believe that cyclists don't have to give any such consent?? They instead presumably use their good judgement and common sense in these situations.
@drsquirrel0.. you would think so wouldn't you.. However, I've been researching this for quite some time and it's not as clear-cut as that, especially if you know whether you are a person or a human being. Do you? ;)
Oh, and legally, a "driver" is somebody who uses the road for the purpose of commerce. If you are merely a traveller, you have an undeniable right to travel unhindered on/in a conveyance of your choosing. It's a fascinating subject. There's an awful lot of assumptions made out there right now that aren't entirely lawful.. Note that I didn't say legal there! ;)
I understand your point, I can see how certain things can be, if read literally, a bit weird, but realistically defending these points... a bit harder?
Would like to see any references or anything to read up on this a bit more...
Check out a Canadian guy called Robert Arthur Menard, or John Harris, or TheAntiTerrorist user on Youtube (who's also got a very good book on the subject).
By the way, the word "understand", in legal terms, can quite literally mean to stand-under.. Be very careful how you use that word when dealing with contracts and other legally binding documents, etc! ;)
some traffic lights work with a coil of wire in the ground and when a car goes over there is an EMF enduced in the coil which signals there is a vehicle waiting. We cyclists do not have this so sometimes indeed we can be stuck at a red for what feels like years. I say stick a magnet to the underside of ur bike!
Sometimes there is a problem with the traffic lights, they are on red for ages. Trafflic lights do fail now and then and all vehicles go through on red because you can't stay at the traffic light all night. Of course, this is a rare situation though.

I hope you didnt take at right at those traffic lights to head up your usual route of Crow Rd

This should not be a cyclist V car verbal contest!
The fact is an AMEY VAN & a car travelling approx 20-30mph neither had NO intention of stopping on a RED (amber also means stop!).
This is serious dangerous driving.
If only you could report the matter to the insurance company - with this evidence it could increase the drivers premium! lol
This should be reported to the police

Well if the police dont care then maybe AMEY will wake up!
You have a driver using YOUR vehicle and is jumping RED lights and has been caught on camera and is now on youtube! LOL
Name and shame

Frankly, you're talking bollocks. And you know you are. The only reason a green filter light isn't visible is because it isn't on. "Dim" my arse.

ha ha. Aye "dim" filter light, very good. and a non existent filter light for the other RLJ video magnatom posted. Good wan.

I wait at red lights when I'm in the car. I tend not to on a bike though, because it's dangerous.

I use them to rest too, then I often sail past any RLJ cyclists LOL!

But THEY have passed a test and pay road tax!! ;-p

Thats no excuse for bad driving. Negligence is no excuse in the eyes of the law.
I've done my cycling proficiency at school lmfao, and have a motorbike and car licenses dosn't give me the right to drive like a tw@.!

He was being sarcastic mate :p
Remember kids! There is no such thing as Road Tax.

Road Traffic Act is for everyone on the road, regardless of licence, registration, mode of transport.
Otherwise, drivers without licences wouldn't be governed by these laws... which is obviously not correct.

Classic bad driving. You should see some of the accidents in the US about red light jumpers, they are all over youtube.
cyclepod1 2 years ago
You are still not allowed to go through a red light, even when broken, unless directed to do so by a Policeman.
mrcellophane99 2 years ago
Interesting, so what do motorists do? They are at the traffic light and they can't a policeman on their mobile and it may be awkward to turn round...
Most people tend to drive thru them really slowly.
cyclepod1 2 years ago
I don't think that's correct.
lsmike 2 years ago
'99 you're allowed to proceed with caution if it is broken but you obviously must be sure it is broken.
downfader2 2 years ago
fantastic, caught on tape at last, i see it all too often from drivers pushing it past that red light.
