  • it was the best tv show

  • @MsH1h1h1h1 AGREED!

  • Makes me happy and sad at the same time. When I was a kid I used to stop everything I was doing when this show came on--Cmdr. Koenig/Martin Landau influenced me quite a bit the way he made decisions (good or bad) and stuck with them. Good show, and a fitting tribute to those who have passed on.

  • @waverly24 Hey waverly24! I too rushed home every saturday afternoon just for space 1999! The thing with the Commander?....did he EVER make bad decisions???? LOL! He always had something going on in his head that we were not privy to it seemed. He was the hero of the show. truly. And I simply loved the John/ Helena story....still do! ha! thanks for watching and commenting...most appreciated!

  • Lynne Frederick was gorgeous. What a tragedy about the miserable way her brief life ended.

  • Yeah, this was GREAT - Thanks for sharing ! :)

  • I remember this when it first started I was 12 years old. We would meet over at my friends house and watch it every Saturday at 4pm. This was back when we only had 13 channels on the boob tube and no computer. We even pooled our legos and built the moon base and a few eagles to fly around the base. What great memories. What a great vidio to add to youtube, it brought back so many good times I had as a youth. Thank you, I had a bad time at work to day. You have put a smile on my face again.

  • @tinroofbusted Hey tinroofbusted! LOVE the name and singing the song right now!! B52's were so much fun!! Space '99 came on here at 4 pm on saturdays as well! And yes...I had forgotten that there were only 13 channels...actually 12...as the first one didn't work!! HA! forgotten that! Hope you have a better day at work this week! And thanks for watching and commenting! Very much appreciated!...all the best...jan

  • yes they were NOT big stars but they helped up believe in the story that way being told. But a big thanks goes to you. Yes you for taking the time to help us remember them. You took the time to put this video together. Wonderful job. Thank you for taking the time to help us remember that you don't have to be a huge star to tell us a story.

  • @scanning599 VERY sweet of you to say so....and just a nice thing to say! Happy holidays to you as well my fellow fan of the show! All smiles here...you made my day...thank you!

  • you know while we have the dvds and vids there not really gone definately not forgotton just carrying on giving so much pleasure to those who loved and still love the show

  • this show was way better than star trek

  • I wasn't a big fan of Space 1999, but watching these actors and knowing them from my other favourite TV shows just makes me realise how old I'm getting. People like Gareth Hunt were my heroes 35 years ago. Excellent tribute and fitting music. Well done!

  • man it made me sad to think all these wonderful inspiring people are gone what a lovely song so fitting and lyricly appropriate i love space 1999 and yes gerry sundquist belongs in here not much is known of him or what other film projects he was involved in before guest starring on space, you know its been 35 years since this show premiered i have the dvds but lost the eagle back then yhis is done with maturity and caring .

  • @azzorroww Thanks for the lovely comment! If you want another eagle....you'd be surprised what you can buy off ebay or ioffer! I bought a comlock and stun gun! LOL! Long live Space 1999! Loved it always will!...thanks for watching!.....jan

  • wow never knew so many had gone

  • Very cool tribute to the secondary characters.Haven't seen the show in years and forgot about many of them. Including Peter Cushing who played, SW geek moment here, Governor Tarkin in SW.

  • Lovely to see Gerry Sundquist in there. Tragically committed suicide in 1993.

    Nice video,

  • Yes, you are right...and I was surprised to see that....shame that! It was interesting to see all of the stars on the show that were so young that have died....Doing this project I was expecting the older ones ( Christopher Lee...and bless him...he is still going strong!)

  • @cinnamonnut

Are you saying every single star on that show is now dead??? How can be, they weren't that old. That is too sad.

  • @mrtrek64 WHAT? of course not! Barbara Bain, Martin Landau are still active in hollywood and making movies! I have not followed the beautiful Catherine Schell's carrer...but she is still alive...as is Zenia Merton, Prentis Hancock, Nick Tate...and the rest of the cast....I was showing all those that have died since being on the show!.....It will be a very sad day for me to hear of the cast regulars passing...for sure! I hope I won't hear that news for a very long time yet!!

  • Hi Jan, honey!

Well didn't that just make me cry again! I was holding it together till Johnny Byrne! :(

I was just listening to CBC Radio and Randy Bachman has a VERY cool show called "Vinyl Tap". lol His theme for people calling in the last couple weeks is stuff you'd like played at your funeral. I guess someone suggested this song as it was just playing. I knew I heard it somewhere (it's new to me) and I felt is was a S:99 vid so came here searching!

    Once again, great ideavideo!

  • Hey girl and thanks! Kind of a sad one eh? I was surprised at the "young ones" that have died! Christopher Lee...bless him is still going! My brother listens to Randy's show faithlfully! But I got this song from Bachmann and Cummings dvd...loved it then! Cried all the way thru the song! The challenge for this was "Lost Loves"...and this song popped in my head...and thought...Why NOT?...So there ya have it! keep smiling my sunshine!...smiles jan

  • Ok, I'm just going to throw something out there to see if anyone can corroborate. I was reading online and some fellow was saying that the reason Landau and Bain got divorced was that he found out she had been having an ongoing affair with David Janssen. Does anyone who is a fan of ML/BB know anything about this? I can't really believe it.

  • hahahahaha....good one! I've NEVER heard of THAT rumour!......But that broke me right up!! Who really knows the reason...we can all speculate! To their credit....the Landaus handled their divorce with discretion! Thank GOD! So we can't point fingers that so and so is the bad guy (or girl)! But thanks for the laugh...that one was good!...ps...David was a hottie!......HA!...jan

  • Thanks for this. You did a wonderful job.

It's sad to see all those who are now gone.

    Great job!

  • Thank you...and sadly...I can see alot more leaving us as well in just a few years! We aren't kids anymore...and the stars and creative ones that made the show...well...are older than we are!...

  • So true. But they will never be forgotten.

  • You are so right! And thanks again!

  • A good song for a space 1999 video would be Video Killed the Radio Star by the Buggles It's all about nostalga and bygone eras.

  • I'm still astounded by the amount of research and work you put into the making of this video....It is simply sentimental brilliance...Thanks so much for this....so well done!

  • thank you darkstar....thank you

  • Opening = the single best scene from the series, and reduces me to a blubbering mass each time! Thanks, Jan! :)

Heck, I don't think I knew that Gareth Hunt had passed away.

What a sweet and thoughtful idea to commemorate all those people.

    You're a true artiste!

  • Love the scene with Victor and John as well.....also the cigar scene with Victor...that one STILL makes me smile when I see it! And ...well...thanks girl!!...xox

  • great video. I didn't know so many had passed away. I'm glad they all had a chance to be in Space 1999 and be remembered that way. This gives me some inspiration to finish my latest fan fic also. I realy love Space 1999

  • Hi and thanks! It surprised me too that so many have passed on. Good luck with your fan fic...send me a link sometime!

  • Jan

What an amazing piece of work

a truely fitting TRIBUTE to the best TV programme EVER !!!!!!

AMAZING and SAD all at once.......

  • AH! the music is great eh? And seeing scenes that are so familiar...with our Barry Morse and Tony Anholt now passed...kind of sad! I was AMAZED that Toby Robins (Diana Morris) has passed...that one shocked me...as i just LOVED to hate her character! so that kind of saddened me too!...but some died so young!...shame that! I know they will always live on ...in Space and our hearts though!...loads of hugs!...jan

  • I'm loving the trivia! thanks for the post!!

  • Wow, really nice-- getting all those names must have been hard!

Trivia: "Gwent" (Leo McKern) played "Number Two" three times (including as the final "Number 2") in "The Prisoner" BBC TV series. Many fans felt he should have been Number Two for the entire series. Personally I think a constantly-changing Number Two was an integral idea, reflective of one of the main points the show was trying to get across. But that's for a different video thread. :)

  • Jan that was really beautiful,I love it .All that hard work has paid off.Diane

  • THANK YOU!!! for helping me get the pictures of the directors!!! YOU DA BEST!! xox

  • Wow Jan, I'm totally choked up...what a swell idea. What made you think of doing it? It was awesome. I'm posting it on the S99 group. Arlette

  • Hey girl...the video challenge was for "Lost Loves"....now...I COULD have done yet another John/ Helena video...but to be truthful, killing off those characters is so HARD for me to do! I heard this song from Bachman/Cummings and fell in love with it a few years back! When the challenge was issued...I just had a brain wave...about those that we have lost since the show had aired. I was totally blown away at how many (and in some cases YOUNG!!) the people connected to the show are now passed!

  • Simply outstanding...What an incredibly unique tribute to the co stars and supporting actors and actresses of the show.I was blown away...... I can't imagine the amount of research you must have put into doing this tribute. Well done...5 stars.

  • That was a really nice tribute. Lovely work, Jan.

  • Thanks! it took some work!

  • To see so many whom we lost in a few moments of video, it was just so moving. Very nicely done, Jan.

  • Thanks girl...appreciated!

  • Nice tribute. Thank you.

  • Thanks so much...the music also helps!

  • It works! YEY! Great job Jan:)

  • YEAH! It took 4 uploads before the audio would work correctly!...thanks Supsi!!
