  • d major is the hardest for me

  • these are probably the best guitar videos for beginners on youtube, thanks :)

  • How do i tune a guitar?

  • @ScreamoFann you could try with AP Tuner. I'm a bigginer so I don't know much but a friend of mine who's been playing guitar for some years recommended me this program

  • someone, who knows what the name of the intro song is? :)

  • @frilundovich ACDC - Back in black

  • i have a stagg and when ever i play majors they sound low any help?

  • @zingahallic Maybe your guitar is out of tune?

  • @TomFontana

when i got i tuned ti sounded the same, the ones that sounded lower were c major and d major but both e major and minor sound the same and so do both Es

  • I have very small hands and I can't hit any of these chords... Any tips?

  • @GaaraLover1792 You'll probably get it, just need more practice.

  • @GaaraLover1792 play the mandolin. nah im joking i had the same problem, once you've been playiing for long enough it gets easy

  • THANKS :)

  • @TomFontana are you supposed to push down on the strings really hard at first and get used to it cuz its kinda hard? or am i just doing this wrong?

  • What guitar is that?

  • i need a way to play chords but my fingers aren't that tall so it touches more than one string as a result i get a muted sound on some strings

  • Thanks so much for this video ! I'm learning alot . But to play guitar , I heard that having short nails are helpful . Ahhhh I want to keep my nails long .

  • youre a amazing teacher. i love you!

most of the lessons on youtube dont make any sense! and its so hard to tell where to put my fingers. your videos are clear and at a pace that i can actually follow.

    :) thank you again.

  • i really thought the video was helpful since I am just starting to play the guitar. Though about 4 minutes into the video the layout was changed and I found it became confusing to follow and had to watch several times to finally get it. Other than that it was very helpful

  • Thanks so much for these! Finally, I can teach myself how to play this thing <3

  • thx man i just got a guitar and i wanted to learn how to play it but i got so confused with the chords so i checked your videos and you helped me a lot thank you so so much and keep up the good work

  • @blaxyhify My pleasure, glad I can help :-)

  • @TomFontana My hands are extremely small, and I own a small guitar, but some of these chords are kind of impossible for me to play. How can I get the hang of it?

  • @monicala123 Which chords are you referring to? If the C major for example, thats hard in the beginning for everyone, since your fingers have to stretch out relatively far, but the more you practice it, the better and easier it will get.

  • You are such an amazing teacher!

Thank you so so so much! I can prove my dad wrong now!!

    xx

  • ok im new to guitar and my fingers are huge i can get a major but it takes forever i was just messing around would it be wrong to us 1 finger to cover all of the strings?

  • @the0Slayerking0 no, for example the A major is easy to do like that just be careful you dont cover any other strings

  • is this the same as acoustic guitar?

  • @Destinyblade37 Yep, everything is exactly the same.

  • f major is just inpossible i've been trying this for a week and it's still as bad like the first time i tryed it :c . I'm thinking about selling my guitar.

  • im realy strugerling with f major i just cant stop killing the other notes

  • I am struggling with changeingfrom one chord to another, but I know it all takes practice. I really love playing a guitar, but I guess I lack encouragement from my family, they think that I can't do, but I am determined to do it and this guy is great, thanks a lot

  • @GJessful you can do it.

  • @tomasvtk Thank you for that, whoever it is, I really feel encouraged now

  • its official im below beginner

  • Once you get the chords right, what you should do if practice chord changes. So go to one chord, strum, then change to another, and strum, then back to the first. This helps a lot with being able to not only do it quicker, but more accurately, and when you get to songs which have lots of chord changes, like a chord a beat, this'll help a lot.

  • Chords are so hard! My finger always take up all the room between the frets! And my fingers always get realy sore!

  • @minlip1 my friends brother started teaching me one day and he said he use to play until his fingers bled and now he has calluses on his fingers i personally think its a small sacrafice

  • i think im okay but i always mess up on the G major its so freaking hard.

  • Does anyone elses thumb get really sore especially from practicing the F major? Haha.

  • i tuned my guitar but my notes dont sound like yours. anyone know why?

  • I can't seem to get the F Major, it's freaken impossible, my 2 fingers on D and G always touch the other 2

  • @qqmoarploxify :-) I so remember that thats what I thought in the beginning as well, and actually, the same with most other chords :-)

Just practice it, experiment with moving your wrist around a bit to get the right position, and you'll get it.

  • @TomFontana Should I take lessons or do you think if I watch all the videos of these lessons that paying about 70bucks a month for lessons would be a waste?

  • @qqmoarploxify The interaction and live feedback from a live teacher is a big help, but in the end, learning guitar depends on how much you practice at home. If you are diligent, you can teach yourself guitar via the internet, but if you have money to spare, get private lessons, the interaction of a live teacher is a big advantage. Either way you go, remember to practice as much as you can, preferably every day, but at least every other day.

  • @TomFontana help!! theres an event in school called "break up ruining day " and im trying to learn a song but when i tryed to do a note it buzz :(..and my tip of my fingers get soar as hell!!

  • thanks it helped a little, but i have small hands:/ Is your guitar a Paul Reed Smith?

  • thanks alot you helped me alot also

  • Your the best teacher in youtube..

  • great video, but I'll need years to figure all these chords out!

  • I can hear anything! Why sound is so low? I cant hear anything on my laptop and I dont have speakers!!!! :///

  • @justiceleagueable Yep, just depends on the effects you use.

  • @TomFontana how do you get your fingers to not interfere with the other strings, its seems so impossible.

  • @Kman979 I know I didn't post this video, but I feel compelled to offer some advice, being a guitar teacher. Try to make sure and arch your fingers as much as you can, only use the very tippy tips to press down the strings. If things don't get better after this, you might want to try a guitar witha wider fretboard.

  • @Kman979 By using your fingertips, not the pads of your fingers

  • great video, i have started learning about a week ago and im loving it, but i fractured my strumming wrist and can't play for a few weeks now ;(

  • @justiceleagueable Practice more! The secret to the guitar is practice, nothing else.

  • check out great lessons google - guitar manual blog and see the first result. good luck everyone!!!!

  • Hey, um whenever i play my guitar, it seem as my fingers are blocking the strings and each string wont "vibrate" as it should. It's not playing clearly. What should i do?

  • thanks man

  • Thanks!!!

  • Greattttt lessonss ever...! Tom i want to know that... im not able to Tune the guitar correctly... because when i tighten the strings it brokes up... i have made 2 strings broken in 1 week due to this TUNING :( but still i guess my guitar is not in tuning but as im beginner and im doing practice on picking, strumming and chords changing... so should i leave the tuning until i get the electronic tuner... is it fine to practice the chords on UNTUNEd guitar....

thanksss and your lessons r best ever

  • @jalrox123 Hi, you should NOT practice with your guitar out of tune.

The reason your string is breaking is because of a flaw in either the bridge, the tuning peg, or somewhere where the string is in contact with a sharp edge, which effectively cuts through the string. The string probably keeps on breaking at a given point. You need to check where, and you'll probably find the fault there. Afterwards, you'll need to even that rough edge, and all will be good. Or take it to a guitar shop to fix.

  • By raw i mean like my fingures are getting worne down and the skin on my fingures are beeing like ripped off

  • i get string rattle on the chords is this normal??

  • @fingersk8dan You need to hold the strings closer to the frets (the frets towards the body to be precise), and maybe hold the strings down a bit tighter as well. Also, make sure your fingers are only touching the strings they are supposed to be touching, many people accidentally touch a neighboring string without even realizing.

  • @TomFontana thankyou very much for the reply . i am glad you take time to help people unlike other online tutors five star! i am getting used to where my stings are and how mto hold them. also i think 1 string songs are a good source of basic rythm.!

  • Can u go just i little bit slower?

  • question: if your fingures start to get raw from holding down the strings what do you do

  • @imbored434 what do you mean by raw?

  • @imbored434 what do you mean by raw?

  • @imbored434 what do you mean by raw?

  • @imbored434 what do you mean by raw?

  • @TomFontana i think he means that he's getting hurt with the fingers... i mean , as a beginner, ur fingers hurt because holding the strings....

Anyway , thank you very much for the lessons i hope one day i could play some of my favorite songs !

  • @imbored434

you will get callouses on the ends of your fingers after awhile and it won't hurt at all

  • @imbored434 The reason why they're "raw" is that you haven't gotten calluses on your fingers yet. This allows you to hold down the strings without them getting raw. So my advice to you is to make yourself just keep holding the strings down and practicing until you get them.

  • I love you :D

    I got a swift EQ-7545R At christmas

    Cant afford decent lessons

And only just came across your videos recently

When im performing at concerts everywhere in 5 years

I know who ill thank :P

  • i cant even hold the simple chords with my fingers... they keep interfering with the other strings :(

  • started playing guitar after breaking my ankle twice from Motocross racing =(

  • tnx 4 this video...im a beginner...im 16 yrs old...never too late to learn guitar...

  • Thanks so much for these videos, trying to juggle high school, driving, and guitar is hard but this helps immensely with the guitar part as I haven't been able to find any guides that really start with the basics and almost gave up on the guitar all together til I found your videos. Thankyou!

  • nice double cutaway guitar im getting one today

  • Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I have a 78 Les Paul and just now learning how to play. I got new strings and tubes for my amp and I am excited to learn how to play. Thanks for your time!

  • @LABray1975 I'm glad to see you are excited about learning the guitar, keep it up! Just practice every day and you'll start improving quickly, the secret to becoming good is practice.

  • very nice video... very helpfull .. exactly where i'm at now.. (your voice is pretty quiet on this vid though)

    thanks

  • do yooh have a video mentioning how to tunethe guitar?

  • Yep, video number 5 teaching tuning.

  • @TomFontana awsome thnxs! :D

  • I really appreciate these videos. I've known most of the basic chords for a while, but no one has been able to explain F major as well as you have. Thanks!

  • My pleasure, glad I could help :-)

  • Hi i have found a easy way to learn Guitar

    Guitarstut(.)com

  • @nightwishfinland It's like any other leason but with video you can pause, practice, take notes, and practice what he shows I'm finding these videos pretty useful. You can pick up black tab books at most music stores for pretty cheap and the one I have has perferated pages so I can rip them out and make copies.

  • iscavlee gitaraaaaa qalooooooooo

  • You seem like a very nice guy, but don't you think this is a lot to cover in ONE lesson? Too much, too soon makes students feel overwhelmed. Like myself.... Why not learn three chords and some songs with those?

I do thank you for your lessons, I just need to get the hang of three chords before moving on.

    peace....

  • great vid! thank you very much! :D

  • Hey I'm having a real hard time with fmajor it's so hard for me to hold 2 strings with one finger while putting the others on other strings w/o touching the other strings and making the it sound flat

  • Yes, the F major tends to be hard in the beginning, one of those chords that seems impossible at first, than gets very easy once your fingers get used to the shape.

Just look at my hand and fretting fingers on the close up, and try to replicate it. Make sure your strings are ringing clearly. Once you get them sounding good, take your hand away, and do over until you get more used to it.

  • Okay I think my guitar is not in tune lol sounds diff :( it has rust on the strings cuz I bought it used lol still in perfect shape other than that it's easier to remember when doing it but the eadgbe is so hard to remember for me

  • Okay thanks, ur vids help alot I wanna be able to play alot of songs and maybe make some of my own I especially wanna learn the iron man theme song by black sabbath so I guess I'll have to remember all this ugh so hard!!!!!

  • Do u have to learn all the variations?

  • Well, if you want to become good, than yes. If you just want to learn a couple of chords to strum, than not really, no. So it depends on what you are aiming for.

  • Not loud enough!

  • This was so helpful!!!!!! Thank You so much for making this video! :D

  • this is the best tutorial i have ever seen nice job man i thank you very much

  • Thanks, glad you found it useful!

  • no matter how hard i press on the d string with my first finger, it always rings?

  • cool vid, thanks for sharing
