  • Hi there. No, we dont freeze the catch. We usually go in every day to land the catch. But we have got this "sorting machine" wich sorts the prawns by the size. The smallest prawns get thrown back to sea, the medium should not be cooked, and the large ones get cooked. Those medium prawns we pack in fish boxes in the fish hold and have some ice on them. Just to keep them cool to we get to shore.

  • Nice one :) we are stuck sorting by hand and keep the soft and damaged prawns (headless) uncooked. We call them "green prawns"

  • Hey olibjarni, what sort of sorting machine do you guys use, and does it reduce by-catch..Just curious and by the way thats me in the video lol.

  • We do it almost the same way here in Norway, only difference is that we pack away the prawns in boxes right away after cooking and cooling. We also salt our prawns in the boxes.

  • Do you have snap freeze? some trawlers here pack their catch into boxes and freeze it straight away too. hope you're enjoying the videos :)
